I bought a house I couldn't afford and boom , a recession hit (2008) and then the struggle began , long story short lost the house, credit ruined.....etc. But God... still here, wiser...

i love how the wife ask great questions to dig deeper into details she is an asset because she brings real life scenarios to this platform. He is good with the facts, so they are great team.

A new car would have to: A) get a great deal at purchase, B) pay off as fast as possible to not add to cost with interest, C) owned for 10-12-or more years to offset all depreciation losses in the first 5-8 years, and D) well maintained to sell at a premium to get back what you can from the car. Also, if paid off and well maintained, sometimes a $200ish dollar really good detailing revives the car to keep longer instead of getting something new. Paid off and driving is always cheaper than new with payments

We just sold the big house and went into a home that is 25% of our take home. Such a blessing.
