The fire extinguisher is mandatory in Europe, along with the first aid kit and reflective triangles. I think the reflective vest is also mandatory. In my circle of acquaintances, everyone also has a bottle of oil and replacement bulbs in the car. And I always have a few liters of water, countless times being useful for washing hands, for the windshield or even for drinking To these I add a personal recommendation: a size 10 fixed wrench (I don't know the equivalent US size). It is the most commonly used screw size. From tightening the battery terminal to changing a light bulb, there are size 10 screws everywhere. And maybe a screwdriver.

I also carry a Swiss Knife that has many functions. Also carry a glass bottle of drinking water in the cabuol in case I get stuck in traffic for several hours and get thirsty.
