Completed Stormy Ascent with 9 lives and with special gem yesterday, RAGE QUITTED THE F#¢€ HIGH ROAD with more than 10 game overs and without getting the second checkpoint T - T
Stormy Ascent just requires good precision and timing. Not easy, but not absurdly hard either. Also the time trial is super lenient. The High Road is unfair. New jump physics make it harder, too good hitboxes make it harder and it was already ridiculous in the original. Took me 7 hours to get the gold relic there. In ONE completion. It took me 7 hours just to beat the level in time trial. Thank gods it was a gold.
High Road wasn't as difficult in the original. Precise jumping and controls made it tolerable. Crash 1 suffers from slippery mechanics that 2 & 3 work well with. Causing Crash 1 to be ultimately much much much more difficult.
"Welcome to the Salty Spitoon, how tough are yeh?" "How tough am I? How tough am I? I beat the High Road without losing any lives!" "Yeah so?" "Without using the side ropes..."
Lol i died like 10 times before figuring out how to damage him then i died like another 3 times before finishing him off. But i completed the game except for the 2 dlc levels.
I finished the whole trilogy without any game over and got all platinum relics on each game (including stormy ascent and future tense) I was 12 (no joke)
As the co-creator and lead programmer of the original 3 Crash games, this is hilarious 😆. Most of the cry inducing moments were of course there in the original. You should have seen the original version of the High Road. We took out about 75% of the challenges. Haha. But something they made harder in the remake. Most consequentially, they screwed up my carefully tuned jump variable logic and made it a single fixed larger jump. It’s actually a lot harder and less nuanced than the air controls in the original. Make all the tight jumps a bit harder. Of course they did fix our ludicrously bad Crash 1 “save” system.
I just beat Crash 1 105%. I had to do it over again because of the 104% bug glitch and now I have to get all Platinum Relics and majority of Developer times beat over again. I’ve lost my touch because of doing Crash 2 100% then most of 3 and it’s affected my gameplay of the first one but hopefully after many tries I’ll git gud again and 3 will follow. I know it’s hard but I thank you sir for making such a good game! 😊
Hi Andy! Once a year I become nostalgic for Crash Bandicoot and I'll either play the games and/or watch videos of them. Crash Bandicoot 2 in particular is one of my favourite games of all time (I can count my favourite games on just one hand). Crash 2 is so well-balanced and finely tuned. It was also my first playstation game as I was a little late in owning the first Crash game and a playstation console. It was 1997 when I received a playstation console and Crash 2 as my first choice of game for Christmas, so I am now an older gamer. Making a remake of your favourite game is always going to be a tricky thing in case of ruining it, as well as having your memories attached with it, and in my case, my childhood memories. All I wanted from a Crash remake were better graphics but with the same style and some quality of life improvements. I think that they made a very good game (N. Sane trilogy) but the platforming is different, I much prefer the originals. It is crazy to think that the originals are better than a remake made on a 4th generation console 20 years later. I was searching for you and your views on the N. Sane trilogy and Crash 4 but couldn't find anything and then I randomly stumbled on this comment of yours! I am curious to know which specific part in the game did they change/mess up your "carefully tuned jump variable logic" for the jump? You Sir and Jason Rubin are my gaming heroes - you both created and gave me one of my favourite games of all time and gave me some of my best childhood memories that will stay with me forever, Thank You! Excuse the pun but Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back is an absolute gem of a game!
I just recently got it on pc and plat relic'd every level on crash 1, just got all golds for crash 2, and now im gonna do crash 3, after that ill probably go back and platinum relic 2 and 3 since the gold just isnt good enough lmao
Crash Bandicoot has taught me that I have gotten worse at gaming over the years. As a kid these games where very doable, now it makes me rage so damn much that I have had to (temporarily) abandon the first game to regain my sanity
Wait.. that first level.. you can just hit the thing and jump accross.. I speed ran that level getting the 3 masks (the ooga booga as I have always called him) so I can run accross and get them all thinking this is what I had to do. The first hour of my game went there
M Wadud They gave every game the same physics- most similar to Crash 3. So while some levels, like Hog Wild, are easier. Many (especially in the first game) are much more difficult- for example Crash's jump distance is now effected by momentum- which makes high road _even more_ difficult as Crash can't always jump as far he needs without a running start but there is no room to do so, so you gotta jump very close to the ledge often times.
Capdo Joe Yeah that one and Bee Hive MY GOD WAS HELL for me other then that it was easy oh and the time trails in the 1st and 2nd crash games where annoying in some levels like high road but crash warped was easy
Ah yeah I can remember when I called my dad with tears in my eyes that I beat N. Gin on the Playstation 1....good times. edit: okay apparently people still see this 4 years later haha. at that time i must’ve been like 6 or 7
You know, having finally gotten to play N. Sane Trilogy, I realized that they're actually harder than when we were kids. I think its the modeling for a lot of the platforms, they're rounded now instead of flat. Go and check it out, I'm telling you. Anyway, my level that put me through the wringer is The Great Gate (I think that's the name) in Crash 1, I must have spent hours playing through it.
I forgot how hard crash was, don’t remember it being this hard when I was a kid,I do remember getting far tho,and I had no space on memory card, then had power cut, sods law
I have 1 and 2 completed with all gems, relics and achievements. What's stopping me in my tracks trying to complete warped is that rings of power level. And water physics in jet ski levels too (but I did get platinum on hot coco with that nitro glitch)
Getting the gold relic on The High Road took me over 2 hours and was the last thing I needed to do to finally get the platinum trophy. Then they released Stormy Ascent I just can't even.
AnimeDoomOfNoD Lmao true. That thophy set looked unfinished without the Dlc ones tho, now I have the 100% but the trial took me about 3-4hrs. Try it guys.
Having the Platinum trophy didnt look so great when you noticed 87%. Now i beat the Stormy Ascent trial that took me 3hrs. The 100% trophy feels good tho.
“...A collection of three games that are every bit as fun as I remember... and also every bit as hard as I don’t remember.” Couldn’t have said it better myself. Three levels in had me wondering how I ever finished the story of the first game.
So I decided I'm going for a completionist run and platinum the game but I'm trying to get the Time Trial for "Native Fortress" and I'm already regreting my decision.
Ive platinum trophied crash 1 on ps4, and Ive gotten every plat relic + all achievments for crash 1 on pc and ive done all gold relics on crash 2 but not all gems and on crash 3 ive beat it but only have some of the gems and relics
Omg I laughed so hard, all the while feeling just about every inch of the frustration he talked about! Crash is not for the weak of heart indeed 😂 (I'm currently struggling on Slippery Climb)
I'll never forget the original "Crash Bandicoot The Wrath Of Cortex" on Sony PlayStation 2. It was the first game I had to learn to play one handed because I had broken my finger on my left hand and had to have it in a splint, so I could only use my right hand. Do you know how hard the time trials were one handed???
So so true! When I first got the remastered trilogy I could not believe how much harder I was finding it...but then the more I played the more I remembered and then unlocked the memory I had of me breaking my ps1 controller... nostalgia hey? I'm currently re playing through the triology now in honour of the 4th 😬 I am dreading a lot of levels...high road is one of them
I never played this series, it looks so good , but difficulty is giving me pause. Someone recommended starting with the 3rd, easiest, and work my way to the 1st, which is hardest. Would you agree ?
Actually, we WILL get a Spyro remake. Just like this game, the first 3 games from the Spyro series: Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! and Spyro: Year of the Dragon will be released in a compilation entitled Spyro: Reignited Trilogy. It comes out in September.
the oldest video image in my family is my dad recording me with a camcorder when I was 12 as I did the great hall crying cause i finally finished it. shout out to Gamewinners(RIP) cause never woulda beat it without them back then
I never played the original Crash so I died a lot until I realised it allowed you to hit while he was spinning, I thought you had to wait until he stopped. Once I knew he died straight away. Now I need to farm some lives for Slippery Climb.
Crash 1: Native Fortress, High Road, Sunset Vista, Fumbling in the Dark Crash 2: Cold Hard Crash, Bee-Having, Piston it Away Crash 3: Future Frenzy, Area 51, Hot Coco if i missed any hard levels put them up
1000% so TRUE!!! 😋 I'm preety sure that there are more then 7!!! 😋 Very nice video and scenes!!! 👍 I've completed all crash trilogy games 100%, but only for the 3rd i've got the platinum trophy! The first 2, ALMOST all trophies and daimonds and relics!!! But the timed levels gived me a hard time!!! 😋 I almost got them all!!! 🤣 But they are impossible!!! 😁😋 I even finished the SLIPPERY CLIMB WITHOUT DAYING!!! But there wasn't enough to! 😋 So YES, Crash Bandicoot is a very hard platinum trophy game! 💪
Disagree with Cortex and N. Gin boss fights - they were both enjoyable and fairly straightforward. Stormy Ascent, The High Road and the dark levels of the original game are the hardest Crash levels from the original trilogy but they are doable if you are patient and have many lives. The time trials are challenging in some levels but the trick is to watch platinum relic runs on RU-vid and then try to emulate them. Remember that for relic time trials you have an infinite number of lives so it's nowhere near as frustrating as losing 50 lives on Stormy Ascent. p.s. I have the platinum trophies for all three Crash Bandicoot games on PS4 + DLC trophies for Stormy Ascent and Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped DLC.
If you ask me, the motorbike levels in Crash Warped are the hardest to get platinum relics on bc the turning is so off you need to know the layout of All 3 of them and I think their layouts are some of the most forgettable things in the trilogy 🤦♂️
I love Caddicarus but, I have to very strongly disagree with him on his opinion that Road to Nowhere and High Road aren't that hard. Both those levels are a huge part why I don't like the first Crash Bandicoot.
Got the platinum trophy for both Crash 2 and 3 but the mere thought of tackling the relics on Slippery Climb and The High Road gives me anxiety, and thus I haven't even given it a try.
You simply can fill this list only with Crash 4 stuff now. High Road is No Problem any more after Cortex Castle und the n. Sane perfect relict in the Alien Planet Stage.
My boyfriend did the hog race in the hard mode, got every time box and didn't falter throughout the whole race. Basically had an unbeatable time. I spent ages trying to beat his time, got all the way through and crashed at the last hurdle...but the crash threw me from the pig into the finish line faster then he had run it and I got the best, essentially unbeatable, time. XD Even better is that he'll probably read this comment and feel the burn again ;)
