i’m about to go on a trip and my parents will not allow me to bring my dogs. i don’t know what to do but i’m not close enough with any of my neighbors to trust them enough.
@@venkatasaipachunoori3043I'm going through this rn I don't have enough for a pet sitter to look after my dog for a month and I don't trust my neighbours either idk what to do rn
I don't take a vacation, no one to take care of her. Definitely wouldn't put her in a kennel. She's 6 years old never been without me overnight. No vacation for me unless you have a suggestion. LOL. Blessing's❤
Irma Brooks ~ I'm even trying to avoid surgery, I live by myself with my dog and no relatives around. Neighbors are all busy. No one is willing to spend the night with her. Just relying on the Lord. I'm not going to leave her. If the Lord wants me to have that surgery, he will supply a sitter for my dog. That may seem stupid to a lot of people, but not to me.
Hi Dr Jones! It's a busy season upcoming - Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years. Lots of folks go on vacation this time of year. Good tips here to keep the pup feeling comfortable with his own belongings and own food. I ask owners to bring a piece of clothing "worn" by the owner so that their scent will be at my house. I also put an ID tag on them with my ph # and my address just in case they should get out, they can get back to me - safely.
Does it make a difference how long you leave your pet with a sitter for? For instance going for a 2 week or a 1 week holiday? Is a dogs sense of time the same as ours? We are going away for 14 nights in April, but with the flights and time difference we would need to leave our dog with our sitter for 17 nights total. Should we think about shortening our trip? We booked to go away before we rescued our dog. We have built up a relationship with our sitter, but haven't had an overnight stay yet, just full days.
@@mysticmess7 it went so well!! We planned on leaving him in a kennel but we weren't comfortable with that.. So we just left him at our house with few people that knew him well!! He didn't miss a meal and friends were the sweetest to visit him and play with him.
Hi Doc, Any additional tips for us if we are planning for a long vacation like being away for a month? We plan to have a friend house sit for us so the dog can stay home Any help appreciated. Thank you
