Dr Taylor Marshall goes over the 7 Traditional Catholic Orders: from Porter, Lector, Exorcist, Acolyte, Subdeacon, Deacon, and Priest. He uses the Roman Catechism of the Catholic Church (Catechism of Council of Trent) as his primary source, but also cites Pope Cornelius, Pope Zosimus, Saint Thomas Aquinas and others.

I still cannot believe in the lack of wisdom or logic that led to the removal of these great orders especially that of the minor exorcist. Every time I hear about it my soul and heart breaks. On my bad days I am completely livid. The people need these prayers. This video needed to be made so I thank you greatly Taylor for being the one to take the time to describe it all in detail for us all.🥰🥰 Be blessed.

Regarding Diaconate: What the 7 Deacons do in the Acts of the Apostles, Deacons should be doing until the Second Coming of Christ: 1) Administrating the goods of the Church especially on behalf of those in need. 2) Preaching the Gospel, evangelizing, explaining Scriptures, as Deacon Stephen and Deacon Philip do. 3) Baptizing, Exorcising and healing the sick as Deacon Philippe does. 4) Preparing people to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation from the Apostles (or their successors) as Deacon Philip does. 5) BUT the key to FULLY understand the DIACONATE is in its LITURGICAL VESTMENT. Anybody in this conversation knows: 1) THE ORIGIN AND NAME OF THE DALMATICA? 2) WHAT DID THE DALMATIC MEAN IN THE ROMAN EMPIRE AND LATER IN THE REPUBLIC OF VENICE? 3) WHY A POPE GAVE IT TO THE DEACONS OF ROME IN THE ERALY CHURCH AS A SIGNE OF THEIR ORDER AND RELATION TO CHRIST THROUGH THE BISHOP? If you understand the DALMATIC you understand the DIACONATE!!! I challenge somebody to answer!!! One more important question: 4) WHO IS THE TYPE OF THE DEACON IN THE OLD TESTAMENT? 5) WHAT DID THE TYPE DO AND WHAT DID NOT DO? I give you a clue: Go to the words of consecration in the Liturgy of Ordination of a Deacon: What His Type did in the Old Testament the Deacon should analogically be doing in the New Testament: The Deacon is the fulfillment in the New Testament of what His Type was in the Old Testament.

Suggested deep dives: No Salvation Outside the Church, Ecumenism, Education (Homeschooling or not?), Bible Deep Dive (series like you did on Revelation), Vatican 2 deep dives: Religious Liberty, Role of the Laity, It was merely Pastoral, Role of Conscience, Time Bombs ins the documents, etc. Keep up the good work! ST. JUSTIN MARTYR ON THE EUCHARIST (written between 153 and 155 A.D) AND WHEN THE PRESIDENT HAS GIVEN THANKS, AND ALL THE PEOPLE HAVE EXPRESSED THEIR ASSENT, THOSE WHO ARE CALLED BY US DEACONS GIVE TO EACH OF THOSE PRESENT TO PARTAKE OF THE BREAD AND WINE MIXED WITH WATER OVER WHICH THE THANKSGIVING WAS PRONOUNCED, AND TO THOSE WHO ARE ABSENT THEY CARRY AWAY A PORTION. Since ancient times deacons distributed the Eucharist both within Mass and to those absent.

I had to come back to this because I just heard from my 27 year old nephew. He just got married after pre-Cana with a Dominican priest. Caleb is a journalist who hated his job. Toward the end of their classes he was offered a job with the Dominicans helping with communications, like video classes, short teachings, etc, based on St. Thomas. He's quite excited about it. He's a Hillsdale College graduate, which is where his beautiful traditional Catholic wedding was held down the road from the college, and the reception was held. Caleb and his wife are both converts as a result of Hillsdale, a common occurrence, I understand.

Securing the church during Mass was a thing of the past? Why did we stop securing our churches? The holy water at each entry is our spiritual guards furthermore, in the physical we must guard ourselves in our practices. The tonsure. So important yet lost in change.....

This evening I was ordained to the Order of Porter by my Bishop because today is Ember Saturday on the Julian calendar. The Western rites of the Orthodox Church never lost tonsure and the seven Holy Orders in the original form. I received tonsure at Epiphany which was on the 19th of January on the patristic and catholic calendar. Only the Bishop has the fullness of the Priesthood. Lower form priests (which is what I want to be) can be defrocked and no longer be Priests because the Priesthood is ONLY indelible with the Episcopate. A defrocked Bishop is still a priest.

I’m 81 years old. A pre-Vatican II Catholic. My cousin was a priest ordained in 1956 at age 26. At that time tonsure was given in 1st Theology, Lector and Porter in 2nd Theology, Exorcist and Acolyte in 3rd Theology, Subdeacon and Deacon in 4th Theology. Priesthood after 4th Theology. Most of newly ordained were 26 years old, not 34 as Dr. Marshall has indicated.

Hi Dr Marshall, You are far better educated that I could ever wish to be. I am starting to get very dishearted by Tradionalist including Church Militant to whom I subscribe. I am a cradle Catholic 1945. Ever since I could afford to buy books or pamphlets I did, my thurst for knowledge re Catholic Church was immense. My father was a 1940 Convert and a street preacher here in Sydney for many years in the 1950s. My father was the holiest man I have ever known personally. So I was surrounded by the Faith. Then came Vatican II and the 1960s a torrid time for any teenanger. Thankfully my Blessed Mother & Guardian Angel saw me through it fairly well. In 1987 I was installed as an Acolyte, I took the job extremely seriously and I have not served actively since 2003 because of poorly acting Priests. Now I am being bombarded not doing prayers or Mass in Latin. Even as a wee altar boy in the 1950s the Latin meant nothing to me, I knew the responses, but I did not really understand. When the local venacular was introduced it took a while but I DID understand everying that was going on. I consider myself a strict Catholic and often get into arguments with fellow Catholics about many aspects of the Faith & Mass and whatever. I am really now at the crossroads, I am tired of being made felt deficient in my faith. I attend Mass as often as possible at least 4 times a week, used to be everyday but the Priest really. I absolutely long for the Eucharist, I love Mother, Souls in Purgatory etc etc etc. I know I am rambling, because I am now feeling lost again. I wish to be the one who Jesus loved, the little children, the simple. The Priests that I have had most problems were very well educated, wonderful preachers but absolutely hopeless human beings. I don't know I feel so sad, I am doing my best but I feel it is just not upto a standard that is expected. Love in Jesus & Mary. Hank

The sacrament of baptism at the time of the Council of Trent was done at the separate building of the Baptistry. At the baptistry, a rite of exorcism was performed on the catechumen before the pouring of the water. Baptism had exorcism as an integral part of its form. Made perfect sense that every priest was already trained as an exorcist before heading to the major orders. And how we need more priests, all priests, to be trained to fight the devil.

The only problem with the Catechism of Trent (and St. Thomas) regarding Holy Orders (partially solved by Pope St Pius X in his Major Catechism) is the absence of the definition of those Holy Orders which belong to the SACRAMENT OF HOLY ORDERS instituted by Christ himself. We cannot apply univocally the terms MAJOR ORDERS to the Subdiaconate, Diaconate, priesthood and Episcopacy. The Subdiaconate was instituted by the Church, not by Christ - together with the minor orders and the distinctions within the episcopacy of Archbishop, Patriarch, Cardinals, Auxiliary Bishops, Coadjutor Bishop, etc, which does not imply an ontological difference among them, they are all ontologically Bishops. As well as within the Order of Deacons the title of archdeacons, which does not imply an ontological difference, they are all still Deacons. The Diaconate, Priesthood and Episcopacy are the ONLY three degrees of the ONE Sacrament of Holy Orders instituted by Christ Himself. The relations among the three Orders within THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY ORDERS (EPISCOPACY, PRIESTHOOD AND DIACONATE) are intrinsic and ontological because of the UNITY OF THE SACRAMENT (there are not three Sacraments of Holy Orders but THREE DEGREES within the ONE and the SAME SACRAMENT . That is why the Deacon, according with the Catechism of Trent, must always stand by the Bishop, because he has an intrinsic share with the Successor of the Apostles, which the Subdeacon and the minor orders do not have. Consequently the participation to the Priesthood of the Deacon is ontologically intrinsic (from within the Sacrament of Holy Orders), the one of the Subdeacon is ontologically extrinsic (from outside this Sacrament). Dr Taylor Marshall is a Holy City of knowledge and unparalleled Formation in 360 degrees so in no way my remarks pretend to be a criticism. It is easy in a big and beautiful castle to take a couple of statues closer to a window to receive more light; the most difficult thing, which is to build the castle, has already been done. For the sake of clarity and truth it is important to expose a few things closer to the light. As Aristotle put it: We always must be loyal to the truth not to people. I like Dr. Marshall because that is how he is: Truth always first!

Read your Bible. Jesus was a rabbi training rabbis. He would not have bothered ordaining his people as anything other than rabbis. Apostle, presbyter, deacon etc came as differentiation of the Order of Teachers/Rabbis

@@hesedagape6122 Yes, read the Bible: 1 TIMOTHY 3 "Therefore, a BISHOP must be irreproachable, married only once, temperate, self-controlled, decent, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not aggressive, but gentle, not contentious, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, keeping his children under control with perfect dignity; for if a man does not know how to manage his own household, how can he take care of the church of God? He should not be a recent convert, so that he may not become conceited and thus incur the devil’s punishment. He must also have a good reputation among outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, the devil’s trap. Similarly, DEACONS must be dignified, not deceitful, not addicted to drink, not greedy for sordid gain, holding fast to the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. Moreover, they should be tested first; then, if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons."
@hesedagape6122
@hesedagape6122 4 года назад
@@paoloparodi6715 you did not read but copied and pasted the Bible. As I said the offices of Apostle, Presbyter and Deacon are teaching offices. Further differentiation was also possible. All of the Holy Orders were from God. Not just 3 Major Orders or 4 if you are Roman Catholic. The name major and minor comes in the Western Church after the capture of that Church by the celibate monks in 1060s. Before then this did not mean anything other than clerical orders mentioned in the Bible. They claimed clergy shouldn't marry etc

It is the most terrible tragedy of the entire Church, all over the world, by all of the Christians; that all of the parishioners, don't say Mass for themselves and families and clergy. I'm not ordained by human hands, but trust me in this, I'm Very Very Very Ordained. I taught two protestants how to say Mass in minutes. I told them that I would prove to them that this works, and at 12 PM tomorrow, they would feel a buzzing sensation going through them. "That will be God going through them as I say Mass for them at 12PM," I told them. Exact at 11:55 AM the next day, I felt a buzzing sensation going through my body, like someone was saying Mass for me. They were just believing protestants and unordained, uneducated, and believers in Jesus, Our Lord and Savior. That is all, One male and One female. About 12 years ago, I said Mass for myself, and asked God to give me the knowledge of the future. About 9 years ago, I looked right into the future to see Obama win his election by 281 electoral college votes, "three days," before the voting took place. I immediately spread it all over Twitter and sent tweets off to Nancy Pelosi, MSNBC News, Kelly O'Donnell, Obama about seeing the final vote of 281; and the tweets are still on Twitter under Gary James Shields, on that time line spoken about above. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE. You could have all of the Parishes, all over the planet, praying for you both to live another hundred years with age regressing body's. You could have some praying for you to have Angels with you to talk to, Healing Powers, the Ability to Walk in the Water, To be bullet proof, to be invisible whenever your need to be, to be able to levitate and fly, A N Y T H I N G ! ! ! 500,000,000 Masses all said on the same day for you two; and you would have snapped your fingers and things would have been done for you. There is still time. Time is of the Essence ! ! ! DON'T IGNORE ME ! I Speak from Experience, Verily. Ask me what to ask God to give to you and I will instantly pray and say Mass for you to receive it. Reply to me in this comment section, and I will do it for you. Faith is, replying to this message and telling me what you would want. The rest is up to me and God. Those who call upon the Name of the Lord, shall not be disappointed. ..............................................................

I nowhere find in the modern rite for ordination of a deacon the conditions necessary for the ordination of the minor orders nor the order of sub-deaconate. Nowhere is the candidate presented with keys, lectionary, cruets, or empty chalice and paten. According to St Thomas and the vast majority of theologians the presentation of the instruments is absolutely a condition of validity for all minor and major orders (Pius XII's arguments in Sacramentum Ordinis notwithstanding the infallible decrees of the Council of Florence). It is troubling yet accurate that a very solid and Thomistic argument can be made that the orders of the New Rite are indeed invalid. (At the very least, they are highly problematic.) I do realize that the vast majority of Traditional Catholics will not touch these arguments with a 10 foot pole, but I have studied these issues extensively and have yet to get a satisfactory answer to the affirmative that indeed Novus Ordo orders are valid. (Licit is another question.) If you wish to posit that modern deacons contain the lower gradients, you will have to show explicitly where this is so.

Yes, aren't we all. St Thomas Aquinas says to constantly go back to the fundamentals and address our basic assumptions about philosophy and interpretations of scripture. The Japanese Christians were without priest and pope for nearly two centuries, but the rosary pulled them through. Our Lady told St Dominic that one day through the Rosary and the Scapular she would save the world, and the third secret of Fatima begins with the words "In Portugal the dogma of the Faith will always be preserved" saying nothing about the hierarchy of Portugal and absolutely nothing about Rome, which Our Lady of La Salette said would "by degrees lose the faith and become the seat of the Antichrist. All my life I have watched the decomposition of the priests and bishops and wonder if the new mass and sacraments are even valid. (It would be better if they were not- then Our Lord would not be being chased down with beer at "Masses" attended by "Hell's Angels" and etc.) So I am prepared for the Vatican to be wiped off the face of the earth, and the Traditional Mass to become inaccessible for most Catholics. Jeremiah warned the people of his time- "Do not say, 'The temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord. This is the Temple of the Lord," warning the Jews that the Temple would be destroyed because of sins. Most Catholics cannot comprehend a world without the Vatican, priests, and sacraments, but this just might be what the Third Secret portends. regards.

Sorry. Big fan but I could ‘t let this one go. The word sacerdos is pronounced with the accemt on the middle syllable and in Latin c followed by e, i, y, æ or œ changes the c sound to a ch sound, as in chair. Sa-CHERR-dos.

Dr. Taylor, I don't think in the early Church you had the difference between minor and major Exorcists. After all "Exorcism" is a Sacramental, not a Sacrament, consequently can be performed by any man (not necessarily ordained ministers) appointed by the Bishop, as it was in the case of the minor order of exorcists. Being the Pagan world packed with possessed and oppressed people, exorcisms were a permanent work of mercy of the early Church (as we see in the Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles). We see more and more this need emerging again in the present days, going back to cult practices rooted in satanism. In the early Church exorcisms were a common practice of any disciple. Jesus entrusted the power to exorcise to the 72. In the Book of Acts, Deacon Philip performs exorcisms virtually to all the inhabitants of the city of Samaria who were into satanic bounds by Simon the Magician (when you have oficial Satanic Cults in Seattle and in every city, we can affirm we are back in Pagan times). Around the year 300 you have the famous deacon and exorcist: Saint Cyriacus - His Shrine is in Torre Le Nocelle and Fr. Michele Bianco, oficial exorcist of the Archdiocese of Benevento, received this Carisma by praying before te relics of the Holy Deacon. St Cyriacus exorcised the daughter of Diocletian and was called in different places to perform "major" exorcisms. The exorcism at Baptism should not be defined as minor because it is within a Sacrament, which is more than a Sacramental (In the Tridentine Rite you have 7 Exorcisms before the Baptism in water, In the Novus Ordo Baptismal Rite were reduced to ONE. I think that when departing from Pagan times in Catholic History, where from the second Minor Order going up everybody could perform exorcism, we lost touch with this reality of a MAJORITY of obsessed people. This reality is back and we should address it as it was in the early Church, where almost all ordained ministers were equipped and allowed to perform exorcisms. This practice remained somehow uninterrupted in the Orthodox Church, where every priest is an exorcist too. I had the privilege to be part of the prayer Team during exorcisms at Torre Le Nocelle. Here the sequence: 1) Confessions, 2) The Mass of St Michael in Latin, 3) Communion of the possessed, 4) Personal Exorcisms were performed by Fr. Michele and his team of priests, helped by laymen who hold the possessed because of violent reactions to Holy Water. 5) After 3/4 hours at close doors, those who came possessed were drinking Holy Water (there were containers across the whole shrine) with great relief (it does not mean they were all fully liberated but certainly in the process). www.patriziacattaneo.com/lang3/who_is_father_michele_bianco.html

Many FACTS to be considered. First apparitions in History where the ecstasies where video-recorded, studied by Medical Science and declared by the Medical realm as a reality beyond natural explanations. There were close to 2000 ecstasies documented from 1961 to 1965. GARABANDAL deserves a final and definitive pronouncement by the Church on the nature of all these documented ecstasies.

1 Tim: A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife... and... Let deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. Without the prejudice to benefit and true beauty of celibacy, What is wrong with that letter to Timothy, what is wrong of beeing married priest, which is a common practise in the Catholic Church of some rites ?

The destruction of the minor order was a necessary step in the modernist plan to destroy the priesthood.
@KMF3
@KMF3 4 года назад
That's an interesting concept. Can you explain that a little bit further. How does the abolition of the minor orders lead to the destruction of the priesthood. I'm not doubting you I'm just curious how that will happen
@killabaseballguy
@killabaseballguy 4 года назад
@@KMF3 Thanks for your reply. The minor orders were meant to have a gradual movement to the fullness of orders which is the holy priesthood. The lector read the readings as a minor order which is brought to completion in the priest who alone reads the holy gospel. The acolyte serves at the altar of the Lord which is brought to completion by the priest who offers the sacrifice. The idea was to have a gradual ascent to the altar and to deepen the reverence and holy familiarity with the most holy sacrifice of the mass. And most importantly to be a visible sign of the hierarchical nature of the Church. Paul VI abolished many of the minor order with Ministeria Quaedam in 1972. You can read the Motu proprio here adoremus.org/2007/12/31/Ministeria-Quaedam/

How it affects the priesthood is it reduces the hierarchical ascent and deemphasizes the crucial and unique role the priest plays in sacrifice. If the community chooses its own helpers for the priest, they are no longer seen as ministries surrounding the great and unique mediation of the priest, but rather the priest seems to be only there at mass to consecrate the eucharist. May Christ and Our Lady be with you always.
