7 TRICKS TO DRAW FASTER

"tip one: figure out whats slowing you down" everyone: *LINEART*

1) Find out what’s slowing you down 2) Don’t chase perfection 3) It’s *your* art, you can always change it 4) Take breaks and *Sleep*, Fatigue slows you down. 5) Try different mediums 6) Listen to music/shows that aren’t distracting. 7) Practice

“No artist works in silence” Meanwhile me drawing in complete silence

“Watching things while drawing” *slowly puts down apple pencil*

Tip #8: Play the Inverted Song of Time on your ocarina to double the amount of time you have.

Me: **takes out sketchbook and pencil** **block gets thrown at me** Me: “Huh, what’s this?” Me: **turns it over and sees it is labeled ‘art’** Me: “Oh it’s an art bloc-“ Me: “Oh, it’s art block.”

*figure out what causes you to slow your drawing down...* Art block.

I know for me, digital art in general slows me down. I draw MUCH faster traditionally.

I draw slowly because I’m a perfectionist, I will spend 5 minutes drawing a line, be proud, then 2 hours later go back to the line and try to redraw it for another 5 minutes. This happens to every single line I draw.

Y'all ever observe webtoons? They have dozens and dozens of panels and have to update once a week minimum. This is just making me respect them even more uwu

You posted this exactly when I needed it. I've spent 2hrs on a sketch. Edit: I usually don't spend this long on drawings but I am doing way more complex of a drawing then normal, and I have also been artblocked lately so that's rad. 🤙

I find a lot of the time I just stare at my piece for a while after I complete each bit. Not that I get art block but I keep wanting to review my progress too regularly as I go along. It means its pretty satisfying once I'm done because I already know I'm happy (or as close as I'm gonna get) with each bit, but it probably doubles or trebles the time till completion.

You've impacted my life and art so, so much. Only a few summers ago, I had no art style, skills, or anything to match. But when I found your channel, it changed EVERYTHING. I started to study your art style and tips, and eventually, my style became my own; a serious amalgamation of every art style and person I had studied before. You're literally the reason I want to start a youtube channel, the reason I even have my tiny little Imgur account, the reason I don't mind all the hate I've gotten (It was to be expected, they were KPOP paintings and people are dumb) I owe everything I've become in the art world to you and a ton of other artists. Your content is phenomenal! Thank you for being you! :D I've been working hard on a lot of KPOP paintings recently actually, and this video served as a reminder to not overwork myself. I legit spent 8 hours in a day working on a digital painting simply because I wanted to, and I've been getting gradually slower, so this video is literally sent straight from art heaven *sheds a tear of gratitude

Step eight: Make a deal with Satan to give you the power to freeze time! This is also useful for non-art activities

A really great exercise to improve your speed (and also the looseness of your drawings) is gesture drawing. Give yourself a very short amount of time (like, 30 seconds) to try and capture the shape of an object. You can also practice drawing characters and environments and scenes AS FAST AS POSSIBLE, without getting stuck on details. Like, just get the overall shape and enough detail to know what you're looking at. :) I find it a fun way to practice.

Recently started a webcomic and looking at your webcomic has helped me with so many tips! Every time I find myself fussing over some detail, I think “would I care about that issue if I saw that in Unfamiliar?” And if my answer was no, I just let it be. I’ve been trying to keep up frequent updates to get the story to move forward and as a result a sometimes let my art look rather basic. While I’m sure it doesn’t look as beautiful as I’d like it to be, I’ve never been happier knowing my characters are finally coming to life outside of my sketchbook.

Lol, when ever I do digital art it takes me hours to do. But when I'm doing traditional art, it takes me less than an hour.

The first tip was a HUGE game-changer for me...I applied this to myself and thought about what took up most of my time when I drew after watching this video. This helped me realized I spent a _lot_ of time fixing anatomical mistakes and that pushed me to change the way I figure draw, which helped me draw a lot faster the next time around 😁 thank you for this blessing of a video ♥

Great advice with the combination of two different work fields. I'm frequently working on my weekly manga updates myself. Had to write and submit a storyboard with a screenplay for a storytelling seminar once. My professor fortunately allowed me to submit the current dialogue scene from my manga since she was interested in different narration styles and media. She was so kind and told me what she likes about my work but also provided a lot of great visualization and narration advices which had a certain impact on my current style.

This means a lot to me because I've beating myself up when I take a long time on one art piece and have tried given myself like a deadline when I should be enjoying the process and having fun with my drawings and taking my time. Also, yeah some of my distractions are listening to the wrong music or clicking videos and procrastinating on youtube so all of these things are really great reminders.
