I had moments like that when Halo 2 was out my older brother was really good, he could beat me and 3 of my mates by himself. My excuse was you have more things to shoot at. I was right however if we were any good we should of beaten him hands down.
@@Bjornframson that's why my friends never want to play against me anymore, I enjoyed doing 1vX games of things like cod where it was just me versus whoever they wanted, team size didnt matter to me. They got tired of me ghosting them the entire round :/
Well , it is better you just leave your problems and mistakes behind instead of talking about it , kinda like pooping , you just leave it where it should be and then you don't talk about it ever again😁
@@Bygkakpolak I know right 😂 ... it seems to be Robs go to Jimmy Spoiler / _game nerd_ accent ... a kind of South West English Somerset accent Also ... the wig! Lmao
I'm pretty sure I'd fall into one of two totally unmentioned categories: Cynical Soloist or Achievement Hunter (polite version). Cynical Soloist: that person who loves playing MMORPGs but absolutely hates 90% of the other players, so they spend all of their time doing PVE content alone and get to max level without ever doing a group instance. Achievement Hunter pretty much speaks for itself.
I was this when my cousin bought me Destiny 2. Until it ran out of content and I had no choice but to "hang out" with him in PVP. I hate PVP. I was also this in Stars Wars the Old Republic.
Yeah, I'm totally the hopeless enthusiast. I'm always blabbing on about how cleverly designed the map and the characters are, and how well they tie into the overall world and narrative of the game, all while I'm looking at that replay of me getting killed.
I love the mentor. I still remember the dude who helped me with eso as that was my first real dive into MMOs. He helped me with a raid boss, explained every mechanic I was confused on, and just gave me 10 thousand gold. I love that guy!
@@rmcgowa1987 I was in a race today where littereally 6 electro balls in a row showed up on the field XD I was sooo confuse... still got third place XD And yes, I freakin hate time trails. N-Trophy certainly will never be playable for me. Heck, if I would not love Crash 3 Warped so much, I probably would never have platinumed it
I remember I was 1st on Oxide Station, got hit with the clock, and dropped down to an earlier part of the track and ended up finishing 5th. Words cannot describe how pissed off I was
I am basically the mentor when a friend picks up a game I've had for a bit. I then turn into a noob when they get used to the game, unless it's MKX (Liu Kang main in the house), Pokémon (Ghost types down to a science), Resident Evil, Splinter Cell, or Halo. There's a lot more but my main offenders a first-person shooters and team-based games.
My friend's KD in the Crucible was about 1.3, while mine was around 2.1 at the time. As I pointed this out, his excuse for having an average KD throughout his Destiny 2 career and being generally worse than me all around was because _"That's not my true KD, I just started Destiny on this account, it would be at least 2.2 if I played Destiny 1 first!"_
My favourite excuse has to be "Oh I wasnt even playing, I went to answer the door and left the controller with my little brother!" This dude is an only child. No one knows that. Everyone thinks I now have a 6 year old brother and every time people come over I say hes at a sleepover or something. They think my baby pics are him. I'm living a lie. Send help
I love how I immidiatly, as soon as I saw the hopeless enthusiast, said "oh yeah, that's me" I mean I'm good at some games with good lore, but some of them I SUCK Edit: I'm the guy who plays offline/story mode only
I raised my hand when that one came up.. definitely me. I learned im better off giving ideas and strategys to better players than to execute them myself
I think my self as the supporter like a mentor in training I will try to protect my team at any cost even if there isn't a support class in the game I will ressurect and cover fire anyone in order to save them even if that kills me.
There's also the trophy hunter. The guy (me) who will ignore the match, the objective and the team for the sake of fulfilling what is needed for the trophy. Sometimes, boosting the match with a partner sabotaging the enemy team.
Thumbs up for explaining Tetramaster. I played FFIX originally on the original PS, it's one of my all time fav games, and I NEVER understood how that damn game worked. Until the FFIX stream the other day and now this little skit. Rob-you have just saved me from hours of frustration and confusion for my current playthrough. I am eternally grateful.
I watched this vid on saturday while I normally do it on a sunday. Because... Well... Now the best part of the weekend is already gone... Can't wait for next week. Keep going Rob.
I'd love to be a mentor but that would involve me actually being good at a game. I'm a mentor to my friends and family who don't play much, but no one online wants help from me.
This was by far one of my favorite Friday Features in months!! Excellent intro, some Rob cosplay, Dan the man (twice!). Another great video again. You guys are the best.
WH250398 not for me, I mean I get why it’s done and that’s absolutely fine but for me I absolutely loved the first two Arkham games (Arkham Knight can be used as a frisbee I really don’t like that game😂) god of war and Red Dead Redemption etc, but all this online multiplayer stuff just bugs me. It’s not that I’m “antisocial” (like one youtuber user commented) but before online came along that’s what we had and I just miss the days of a good solid story driven game for all this online stuff
Rob Picken Thank you for saying it. I thought I was the only one. For me, if you give me a linear campaign that's also a third person shooter, I'm in heaven. I don't care much for open worlds, online multiplayer or first person shooters. Though I believe San Andreas was an awesome ground breaking game I could never bring my self to complete the main story. Same with the Arkham games. My brother though enjoys the hell out of a good game no matter the genre but I am an example of a very niche category of gamer who prefers games like TLOU, the Uncharted series, Metal Gear Solid (before Phantom pains) where you go level to level.
I recently did "Hellblade: Senua's Sacrafice." It's short but an amazing solo story game. Otherwise the Witcher 3 is probably the best story driven game out there and Cyberpunk 2077 will be a good one for next year (as long as your not one of those cry babies who gets offended by everything).
Oh I'm a Hopeless Enthusiast for sure. I tank in FFXIV, I *think* I'm doing a good job, and my FC tells me I'm doing a good job, but hoo boy do I know I suck 😅
Nothing sucks more than telling someone who's trying to tank they suck then having said tank leave in the middle of a dungeon or raid. I rather say your doing great then stress someone out over a fun game. (As long as there is progress that is haha)
I just love how Rob said "and if you think your group of friends has no hopeless enthusiast" and the look on his face as I realized that I am the hopeless enthusiast of my group of friends!
100% a saboteur. Incidentally, I've discovered that for some strange reason, my friends hate games with friendly fire and I just can't figure out why. I absolutely love them! P.S. Rob, you may only apologize on my behalf if your words are sincerely insincere.
Works for single player games too, even tho it translates differently. But for both multi and singlerplayer, I always thought I was just a hopeless enthousiast. Turns out, I am when I'm bad at the game, but I'm a mentor when I'm good. Either way nobody ever listens to me even tho I don't spoil (mostly I always find people barely invested in the game) but... oh well. Tho, a month ago, found a young bunch of noobs on PokemonGo and had them learn 2 weeks of useful tips in the time I helped them for a raid. That was extremely satisfying to see them understand and, I hope, grow a bit.
These features are the reason why I initially subscribed, and here you still make em. That's frickin awesome. I will admit I also enjoy trying to imitate Rob's John Hurt-esque voice and accent, nothing like it when talking about wizardry and dragons🤠 too bad I'm too damn american to pull it off😆✌️
One more type you could have is a Hoarder, the kind of person who takes all the loot which is supposed to be shared between your team in for example Borderlands. Great video as always :)
The best excuse my friend had ever heard was “I can’t play because I got a charley horse in my leg” The reason I said my friend was because I was the one who got the charley horse during an online game. (But I still won)
I feel I have been all of these at one point or another except saboteur. I do not do a whole lot of trolling online. I'm just to busy getting carried, being an elite, the mentor, a hopeless enthusiast (i enjoy that one a lot), spoil games every once and while. That is about it I am defiantly not a noob i would never make an excuse to cover for being a noob. I enjoyed the video.
That was a great episode! I couldn't stop laughing! I have encountered the Elite Pro online, he (or she) destroyed the other deathmatch team. Leaving the other 4 of us, with only 1 kill between us 4. Not once...but twice! Then, like the Lone Ranger, he (OR SHE) was never seen again. I don't think I've played CoD ever again. Sigh...good times. LOL
I love fridays - i love you guys from accsess team. And the fact I can enjoy another friday feature. 🥰 Best excuse. „Sorry for the messup! My cat suddenly jumped on my ps4 controller (?!) and i had trouble to shake it off. 🤣 Happend in a FFXIV dungeon by a healer. Whole party died on last boss by ~5% hp left. 😅
I have met every single one of these kind of people. One of my friends is a hopelessly enthusiastic noob excuse maker. He once declared a loss of ours (by his hands) as the fault of a grenade going off in his neighbors house. He has no neighbors. The nearest person to his house is five miles away. This neighbor absolutely refuses to have anything to do with violence or explosives.
I actually had the wonderful experience of playing online with two mentors recently. I was playing Transformers: War For Cybertron's escalation mode trying to get the trophy for making it to wave 15. Well we played a specific map where there's a high ledge that I was told to stay on and shoot any enemies that came my way while they were both flying around the map taking out enemies like it was mere child's play. It was a truly remarkable experience.
My friend is a mentor for borderlands and Monster Hunter while I am on dragon quest and pokemon. We help each other otherwise I just am a lore person in games knowing lore despite being shit at some games.
That thing you said at the end, about feeling bad and dropping a game because every other player insults you or railroads you... that’s why I couldn’t continue WoW or LoL I forget which one it was... I was running a dungeon and they kept calling me stupid for not knowing my way around the dungeon or which monsters I should/shouldn’t kill
Sulaiman Gulzar What have you tried on VR? Genuinely curious as mobile VR is a bit poo but PSVR has some AMAZING experiences and games that are the epitome of not boring
I'd love if you included any games of the Tales Of series (especially Tales of Xillia or Tales of Berseria) or the Star Ocean series (S.O. The last hope is so good in my opinion) in your friday features
