Poodles are my favorite dog. I have had Standard Poodles and Miniature Poodles, and now I want a Toy Poodle so bad I can't stand it. I have had Poodles my whole life, and I'm now 52 years old. I pray that God will bless me with a Toy Poodle someday. I have never heard of all these other types of Poodles. I will have to research this. Poodles are awesome! May God bless you always! You should look into Poodle Rescue groups as well as local shelters. You can also reach out to reputable breeders in your area. Most reputable breeders have contracts with the puerile they sell their puppies to that requires the owner to return the dog to the breeder if they can no longer keep it. Breeders then are task 9:22 with rehoming the dogs.
my mother has two yorkie - poos, and they are just the best little dogs. one looks just like a yorkie with curly hair and the other looks like a poodle with yorkie hair.
Poodle is prone to separation anxiety. They are clingers. Two walks a day, obedience training at least three classes and lots of play. Standard poodles may need gastopexy. Expensive but prevents serious harm
I have a labradoodle F1B / she is 3/4 standard poodle. I’ve had multiple breeds of dog. She is the best. Smart, picks up on subtleties, easy to train, eager to please, loves people, little people, other animals. Also has a fun personality.
Poodles are NOT hypoallergenic however they don’t tend to shed. The “Royal” Standard is a Standard….just really big and really just recognized as a Standard although some people call them Royal. However Royal is not appropriate and is not used by reputable breeders
All poodles are the same breed. Just different sizes. Why talk about them like they are different? And showing a dwarf poodle as a standard poodle just shows how little you know of the breed.
In the US we only recognize 3 sizes vs across the pond where they have 4 sizes: Standard, Moyen (AKC doesn't recognize but the rest of the world does), Miniature and Toy. Any other size is a backyard breeder or a puppymill looking only to make money, these puppies are not breed for betterment of the breed or any concern for the health of the puppies. Poodles come in a multitude of SOLID colors, again AKC doesn't recognize "parti" colors. Doodles are just really expensive mutts with a multiple health, behavior, and coat issues. PLEASE do some research before adding a Poodle to your life, these dogs are extremely smart and sensitive so early positive training is a must.
No. Just NO. Don’t put “poodle mix” as a TYPE of POODLE. It’s a mix. I was raised with standard poodles. My brother and sisters also had standard poodles as family dogs. They are wonderful animals. I’ve had a standard for 12 years. I also had a moyen for 3. Moyen is a great size and he had a bark much deeper than my standard. Lovely dog in my house, but an absolute terror in my backyard. He killed, or attempted to kill, any other animal he found - crazy boy and he got rehomed. I also adopted a 13 year old mini who stole my heart. My only regret was not having that mini for his first 13 years. There are dogs….and there are poodles. ❤❤🐩🐩 ‘Nuff said!
Poodles need daily brushing even with short hair. It’s hair not FUR. So it need daily brushing and regular hair cuts. I know I used to refuse to brush out clients matted poodles. No way was I going to torture any dog. Brush your poodles every day. Even 5 minutes. Take them between groomings for a bath and brush with touch up on feet and face and private areas. It saves you a lot of money and good groomers will be happy to set regular schedules with some cost savings on bath and touch up, as in log run it makes grooming a little easier and the dog is used o it.
Ahhh.....after years of German Shepherds, Malamutes and Huskies...I conceded to the anti shedding contingent in my houshold and became the proud parent of a gorgeous sold black Standard....our Beau.....followe by an Apricot girlfriend Chloe....then even kept a pup...Solid Chocolate Brown ...Bailley...so I am a total convert to the breed...smart, loyal good with other dogs and if somone tried to harm me....teeth like a German Shepherd.
They look weird with long tails. In Europe they stopped docking tails and now they look so weird. They claim its inhumane, but the tail is still cartridge for the first 5 days and docking is not that painful but it is not as horrible, cruel and terrible as spaying and neutering.
Poodle mixes are mutts. They are not pure breeds however people are paying ridiculous amounts for a mutt. Although I love all dogs, most “breeders” are hustling their pups for money and are not testing for genie defects. Also, these so called breeders are breeding dogs with very different skeletons and are creating potential issues for future owners (hip and joint issues are “biggies”. Besides, why doodle when you can have a poodle….standards are excellent hunters, have been war dogs, and are service dogs. They are the second smartest breed, maybe the third, depending upon the resource, and when from a reputable breeder who tests the parents, have less issues. Yes issues can happen, but why doodle when you can poodle?

I wish these backyard and in experience people stop breeding poodles with everything. Some breeds it’s cruel to the pups and health of the entire litter and you make genetic defects or weakness worse.

Standard poodles the best cus they have long tongues to lick the peanut butter off your private areas and make you feel real good!! You can put a whole jar on there and they will still slurp it up.
