Best timeline fix, all of the MCU movies are just Luis from Ant-man/Ant-man & The Wasp telling a story to someone. So the times are a little weird, but his impressions are amazing!

Infinity War takes place in 2018. Tony says “Thanos has been inside my head for 6 years.” Just because Ragnarok takes place in 2017 doesn’t mean the post-credit scnene does too. Thise Asguardians must’ve been in the ship for a few months. it is SPACE , after all.

The MCU’s broken timeline is childish when compared to that of the X-Men movie universe.

That timeline wasn't official, it was only licensed. If we set the movies the way they were and ignore the 8 years later in smhc, then it's all good

Coming from someone who’s been mapping this timeline for several years, it’s literally impossible for this to be considered the official timeline. Also, it’s impossible for Infinity War/Endgame to be in 2017. Guardians v2 (2014) took place four years prior. Ant-Man and the Wasp took place 2 years after Civil War (2016). Tony says he’s had Thanos in his head for 6 years (as in 2012). These three events are more than enough proof Infinity War takes place in 2018. The MCU timeline isn’t broken. Only forgotten by the people tasked to remember it.

This is what I think the actual Timeline is. I give reasons for it after. 1943-45: Captain America The First Avenger 2008: Iron Man 2009: Iron Man 2, Thor 2010: The Incredible Hulk 2012: The Avengers, Iron Man 3, 2013: Thor The Dark World 2014: Captain America The Winter Soldier, GOTG Vol. 1, GOTG Vol. 2 2015: Avengers Age of Ultron, Ant-Man 2015-2016: Doctor Strange 2016: Civil War, Black Panther, Spider-Man Homecoming 2018: Ant-Man and The Wasp, Thor Ragnarok, Avengers Infinity War The reasons for this are all mentioned in the films(excluding Spider-Man Homecoming’s 8yrs Later thing). Iron Man is 8yrs before Civil War, 6 months before Iron Man 2 and Thor, because it’s mentioned in Iron Man 2 that Iron Man is still very new, so we assume it’s 6 months later, and it’s also mentioned that Coulson has to go to New Mexico to check out an anomaly. Presumably Thor’s Hammer. I put The Incredible Hulk in 2010 but I could also be in 2009. We don’t know how much time is between Iron Man 2 and it’s post credit scene. I just did that for the sake of spreading out the films to make a more cohesive timeline. The Avengers is 6 years before Infinity War. Iron Man 3 is the Christmas directly after The Avengers and almost 13 years after New Years 1999. Thor The Dark World is in 2013 because he hasn’t been on earth for a while, and it’s before The Winter Soldier, which is probably in spring. GOTG Vol. 2 is in 2014 because it’s only a few months after GOTG Vol. 1 Age of Ultron is in 2015 because it’s about a year after The Winter Soldier because Fury’s been dead for a while. Plus it’s 2 and a half years before Ragnarok. Ant-Man is very soon after Age of Ultron and before Civil War. Doctor Strange is in 2015-2016 because this fits with Avengers Tower and because it gives Doctor Strange to be as powerful and respected as he is in Infinity War. Civil War is in 2016 because it’s 2 years before Infinity War, and 8 years after Iron Man. Black Panther is about a week after Civil War, the post credit scene in Black Panther could be in 2017, we just don’t know. Spider-Man Homecoming is 4 months after Civil War and it Homecoming is usually in October. Ant-Man and the Wasp is based about during the same time as Thor Ragnarok. Thor Ragnarok is right before Infinity War, and 2 years after Age of Ultron. But I like to think it’s not an exact 2 years but probably more like 2 and a half. It fits the timeline a lot better. And then Infinity War is 2 years after Civil War, 6 years after The Avengers, and 10 years after Iron Man.

I love how rather than admitting that one of their movies had a little mistake in it and changing that mistake for the blu-Ray/ streaming services, marvel instead was like “No, lets just talk ourselves into a corner and rewrite the whole timeline. That’ll be easier.”

At the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Happy says “I’ve been carrying this ring around since 2008”, which is a reference to Iron Man coming out in 2008 and the beginning of Pepper & Tony’s relationship. So it has to have taken place in 2008 at the latest. What they should do is just leave it the way it was, and then just state that Homecoming was a typo (or blame Sony).

It's a simple error: "8 years later" should've been "5 years later". It wouldn't have been a "continuity error" if people hadn't treated it as such.

The age of ultron post credit scene does not have to be set in the same time period as the film, you literally referenced guardians 2’s post credit scene not being in 2014

If you ignore the “8 Year Later” from Homecoming you can just leave the films were they are, unless they are released in a year they’re not set (Captain Marvel, GotG Vol.2, Black Panther). It’s Sony’s fault for saying it’s 8 years later, so just ignore that.

So in Spider-Man homecoming, Aaron Davis (Donald Glover's character) is 33 years of age in the movie, and he was born in 1984 making the movie take place in 2017, which means that the events in the first Avengers movie would've taken place in 2009. Honestly though I'm just going to go with what Karl Mordo said to Dr. Strange that using the Time stone would have negative effects to the time line... Boom! I just solved it all yo.

The Infinity Gauntlet being in Age of Ultron actually makes sense. Loki took control of Asgard in 2013, meaning no one was watching over the nine realms because Thor had focused all of his attention on Earth. So Thanos could have gone to Nivadellir any time after 2013, meaning before Infinity War he could have had the gauntlet for several years.

The Mines of Moria in Lord of the Rings had that same problem too. Apparently Gimli, and no other dwarves (or Gandalf), checked on Moria for many years until Gimli and the Fellowship discovered that they were all long dead within the mine.

Marvel made things SO MUCH WORSE with that official timeline. It literally made perfect sense if you just ignored the weird 8 years later in Homecoming. And why they let that slip or didn't fix it for the blu-ray I have no idea.

In guardians 2, which takes place in 2014, nebula leaves to kill Thanos and then in infinity war we see her being tortured and Thanos says she came aboard the ship so time ago, so gamora just forgot about nebula for a good 3 years

In Doctor Strange, one of the patient that Strange passes up on helping is said to be a "35 year old air force colonel, crushed his spine in some sort of experimental armour". This could place the first act of Doctor Strange around the same time as Iron Man 2 with the colonel being the injured pilot who was in Justin Hammer's failed iron man suit which we see at Tony's hearing at the start of Iron Man2.

The error that bugs me the most it that you can see the exact date on several of Tony's devices around his home throughout several scenes in Iron Man 1 where it clearly says 2008 as the year. I don't really see why it has to take place in 2010 as nothing relies on it being set then (In fact Vision's '8 years' comment only makes sense with it being in 2008). Similarly I don't see why Black Panther has to be set in 2017 instead of 2016 as that too creates a hole instead of filling one.

Theres a line in Spider-Man Homecoming, Happy mentions them building Caps new shield. What when how and why? Tony and Steve aren’t on talking terms, why is Tony building him a new shield? Where is it? What is the point of this line?

Spider-Man: Homecoming's "8 Years Later" didn't break any continuity, people only thought it did because they assumed all the movies up to that point were set around their time of release. The new 'official' timeline is the one that creates problems. If you ignore that, Captain America: The First Avenger is obviously during WW2, and Captain Marvel is during the '90s (not sure which year); Iron Man is set in 2007-2008; Iron Man 2, Thor and The Incredible Hulk are set late in 2008 (overlapping), and The Avengers is also in late 2008 or maybe early 2009, not 2012; after that, the films are set more closely to when they were released, with Iron Man 3 set around Christmas 2012 (giving Tony time to build all those suits to cope with any situation, as a consequence of his PTSD from nearly dying in the Battle of New York due to not having a capable suit for spaceflight); Thor: The Dark World is set in 2013, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier is set in 2014 along with Guardians of the Galaxy Vols. 1&2; Avengers: Age of Ultron is set in 2015, as is Ant-Man which takes place after it; Captain America: Civil War is then ~May 2016 about a year after AoU (8 years after Tony revealed himself as Iron Man, as Vision says), and Spider-Man: Homecoming is September-October 2016 based on the Decathlon poster, making it approximately 8 years after the Battle of New York; Doctor Strange is set across many years, starting with his accident in 2008 around the time of the events of Iron Man 2 (he gets a call in the car about a potential patient, which sounds like the HammerTech employee that tests the Hammer armour in the footage from the court scene), and culminating in his becoming Sorceror Supreme in 2016/2017 (giving him enough time to have learnt and become proficient in magic, and meaning SHIELD/HYDRA would be keeping tabs on him in 2014 while he's training); Thor Ragnarök is set in 2018 with Banner having been AWOL for a few years after AoU, and Avengers: Infinity War follows on immediately after it, with Ant-Man & The Wasp during 2018 (2 years after Civil War, 'cause Scott's house arrest sentence is ending), just before the events of Infinity War (so the post-credits scene coincides with the snap) This is only taking into account details from the films (the TV shows might contradict some of this if they mention actual dates), and also only factors in time references I can remember (there might be other lines that mention dates or when things happen relative to each other that I've forgotten, or background details like newspaper dates or something), so if anyone finds something to contradict this I apologise :)

People still talking about that "8 Years Later" crap in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Kevin Feige and the director admitted it was a mistake so just forget about it.

Maybe avengers tower is a listed building, so it’s illegal to change the appearance.

One small error, at the beginning of Black Panther, a tv monitor accounts his fathers death at the accords which was stated as being a week prior (give or take a few days). So this just makes black panther set around a week after civil war, but doesn’t ruin the continuity that you’ve established.

This is just a dumb, complicated, unsuccessful and unnecessary retcon. Nearly all of these movies have direct points that show the exact year the movie takes place most of which being the year they were released with the exception of a few like GOTG V2 which has references and signs pointing out that it takes place only a few months after GOTG V1, and Black Panther which purposefully hints that it took place directly after Civil War. The only blaring error that has ever been made is the Spider-Man Homecoming "8 years later" txt. This new "Official Timeline" takes the MCU from having that one provable error in Spider-Man, to having countless errors in nearly every movie. I'm ignoring this timeline because it is pointless and puts more holes in the timeline than it fixes. Matter o fact, I don't think it even fixes the Spider-Man issue so what even was the point? I'm goin by what was already established cuz it made way more sense This new "Official Timeline" and it's errors just throw me out of this immersive and seemingly flawless world.

Not exactly what you're talking about, but one that's always bugged me is that in 1943 Howard Stark shows off a working hovercar in his expo, and when it fails he says "well, we're still a few years away." 70 years later they're still not commercially viable?

Yeah you know what that is weird because the beginning of black panther really makes it seem like he's literally flying back to wakanda from Siberia and the events of civil war specifically black panther catching zemo stoping him from committing suicide and cap and Tony's fight just happened a few hours ago like he catches zemos bullet captures him delivers him to Everett Ross gets on his plane starts heading back to wakanda and the movie starts on that plane ride back

The comment about the Gauntlet isn’t necessarily valid... just because the main movie (Age of Ultron) takes place in 2015, it doesn’t mean the End Credit scene takes place then... it could be a lot closer to Infinity War...

Loki was running Asgard and Thor even states in Ragnarok that all other realms are a mess that are at war/in ruins so I believe that explains the dwarves being ignored on nidavalir (or however it’s spelled)

In Infinity War, Stark tells Strange that the attack on NY was 6 years ago, but the movies take place in 2012 and 2017. Also, Black Panther takes Place a year after Civil War, but they’re broadcasting T’Chacka dying as of it was still recent.. and that means that they were without a king for a year if it didn’t take place as soon as he returns from Civil War

For me, a real "error" needs to be: a character who died earlier shows up alive later without explanation, or a character is in two different places without appropriate means/time to accomplish the travel. These points are minor at best and IMO are inconsequential.

When you think about it thanos really only needed the reality stone because he could manipulate reality to make the rest of the infinity gauntlet and stones. SO WHY DID HE KILL GAMORA

At the end of GOTGV2, Yondu was burned wearing his fin, in the after credit scene Kraglin is wearing when he is trying to learn how the arrow works. I doubt he had a second one on the ship, then that whole fiasco with baby groovy trying to get the fin makes less sense

Kevin Feige and the Russo Brothers already said the Homecoming "8 years later" was a mistake, so that's already explained, plus Marvel Studious hasn't released an official timeline.

IW comes out in 2018, plus endgame takes place 2 or 5 years after the events of IW.

Happy Hogan in Homecoming, "I've been carrying this ring since 2008" but Iron Man was set in 2010 and even then him and Pepper hadn't really got into a relationship... Only Star Wars continuity bothers me when it's screwed up as with the MCU it all happens over a relatively short time period and it's not that hard to fix, just make Iron Man set in 2008, fix the Homecoming text at the start and change any other film's supposed year to what's needed

I think my favorite thing is that right before homecoming came out someone was tagging about how marvel had a continuity scroll of every event that they used to keep track of everything. Right before homecoming.

In Captain America Winter Soldier, there's a scene on the roof where Jasper Sitwell reels off a list of possible targets and mentions "Stephen Strange" but this is years before he became Dr Strange. Dr Strange takes place just after Civil War, as there's a scene when he's driving his assistant describes the injured Rhodes as a possible patient to work on (just before Dr Strange crashes his car).

Another huge error is how Thor Ragnarok says it’s been 2 years since the Sokovia attack (last time Thor was with the avengers) but Thanos attack’s the Asgardian ship right after they leave Asgard meaning Infinity War takes place right after Ragnarok. This is a problem because Civil War takes place a year after Sokovia and in Infinity War, Rhodes mentions the secret avengers( Cap, Widow, Falcon) having “a rough couple of years” since Civil War.

Gawd I love this channel! I am so glad it came across my Recommended Videos one day It’s so great you all predicted the time traveling setting of EndGame, in me just now watching this. And the time travel just made everything worse, followed by Spider-Man: Far from Home mucked it up even more.

These are all very minor gripes. For how many movies they have in this universe, it is actually quite impressive that their timeline is in as good of shape as it is.

What you missed is how the theory of relativity is affecting the timelines. If you’ve seen Interstellar, you know what I’m talking about - how time travels different on different planets. This is also addressed in Ragnarok where they say that Loki’s been on Saakar for a week when Thor arrives just a few minutes after. This is why Infinity War takes place in about day (“This day extracts a heavy toll”), but there still happens a lot of stuff during that time (the Guardians travel to Knowhere, Cap goes to Wakanda, etc.). Also, in Ragnarok Thor says something like “the outer realms are in chaos” when he arrives at Asgard. This is referring to how everything’s evolved since Loki put his spell on Odin in The Dark World. We don’t know how fast time travels at the different planets, but Thanos might very well have invaded Nidavellír during the events of Age of Ultron - which is why he has the infinity gauntlet in the post-credit scene. So things that should have taken several years or been heard of in Asgard (or other places) might just have taken place on that planets “timeline”. Basically a few minutes on Earth might be weeks on Asgard and years on Nidavellír. This is the science in science-fiction.

You didn't mention the mistake in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 regarding Stan Lee's cameo. Stan Lee says "That time I was the Fed Ex guy" referring to his cameo in Civil War, which hasn't happened yet because Guardians 2 takes place in 2014.
