I live in Minnesota and I used to hateeee winter but the concept of hygge literally changed my life! You did a very good job on this video!! ☺️ Iv been thinking about making a video like this on my channel as well. I have that book as well and it’s amazing!!
Thanks so much for popping by! I’m so glad you enjoyed the video! I completely agree, I’ve loved incorporating more hygge into my life and the book is such a good read! All the best with your video ☺️🧡
Hi, I work at a community college in Northern Minnesota and we will be doing a De-Stress Fest for our students in December to help prepare them for finals week. One of the things we try to share with our students is self-care and overall well-being tips. We will be sharing information on hygge and some tips on how to make their homes hyggelig. I absolutely love your video and was wondering if you would be ok with us streaming it in our student lounge, that we call The Lodge. We have a monitor above the fireplace and I think your video would be perfect to show. Thank you!
Hi Brigett! Thank you so much! Of course, I'd be more than happy for you to stream it. A De-Stress Fest is such a great idea! Wishing you all the best, and I hope it goes well!
Lovely insight into the concept of Hygge. Living in London where it’s dark by 4pm in the winter means you need a way to add warmth and life to your home through the cold winter months. Christmas lights and decorations are great to lift you in December but the other months you need candles, a fireplace, fairy lights, soft blankets, warm woollen socks, evergreen branches with berries, pine cones, mugs of hot chocolate, warm baked pastries, a table laden with hearty food and surrounded by your loved ones .... everything Hygge. There a reason the Danes are amongst the happiest people.
Thanks so much for watching! I love all the things you've mentioned in your comment- just reading it brings me more Hygge!! I couldn't agree more- its such a wonderful way of life!
Your voice is so soothing, they need to get you on the Calm app! I loved seeing your take on Hygge and how you mentioned it can be interpreted in so many ways depending on the person, you're so right!
In Norway we pronounce Hygge like Hi for Hilary and gge like get. 🇳🇴❤️ We really need to make everything hyggelig in here or it doesn’t feel right 😄. Specially in the cold and dark winter months
Great summary of hugge essentials! Beside the content (which is , btw, really interesting:-), your tone of voice is so comforting and huggish that it's very nice to listen to:-))
Hello from Japan. some of japanese people somehow tend to like something about scandinavian. but now I finally found why we've done. their lifestyle gives us time to relax, feel nature around us or face to ourselves. Such time is one of the most important things.
This is just what I needed to see today. We are painting our living room, and instead of simply choosing colours, we are letting Hygge lead the way and tell us what vibe we need with which colour. Thank you for making this. I have the book as well but it’s lovely to see it in practice.
Hello! I discovered your channel by chance yesterday and am loving it! I have just watched your pantry organisation and reading nook videos, which were so satisfying! Here in England we are about to go into another (at least) month-long lockdown, so videos like this are good therapy! I look forward to watching more. Have a great day! x
Hi! Thank you for your lovely comment! I'm so glad you are enjoying the videos ☺️ So sorry that you're heading into another lock down! I completely understand how you feel- we are just coming out of our second lock down here in Melbourne! I hope you stay safe and well! Have a lovely day xx
I enjoyed your Hygge video and your creative ways of bringing it into your home. I've read quite a few Hygge books over the years and while I love the concept I do tend to love visual abundance via art work, knic knacs, rugs, and things I've collected from nature. This is Hygge for me as an artist, as well as candlelight, snuggling under a throw blanket and reading, and listening to easy-going music. Thanks for sharing your ideas and I wish you a Hygge day! Jenny :o)
Candles, soft lighting, throw blankets, dressing warm, relaxing couches and cushions. where are u based - that is a major spice rack you have in kitchen.
Hello from Switzerland 👋. I saw your video by chance, wow, love it🤩👍. I am trying to be a minimalist, hard to throw away all the little souvenirs i bought during holidays abroad...but after watching your video, I think I can say all the holiday souvenirs can go away! Thanks again for your video 😘.
I’m so happy this video was recommended to me. I’ve been trying to become a minimalist however it’s hard when you’re married to a hoarder. Never heard of the hygge lifestyle but I’m very inspired. I will be buying the book. Wish you much success on your channel. Xoxo, from Florida
I’ve just bought this book. I’m looking forward to receiving and reading it. I have been into all things hugge all my life but I didn’t know until recently it had a name! 🥰
I’ve been Hygge-ing my entire life and didn’t know it. I just kept calling it “cozy time”. I did find out on my Ancestry DNA that I’m part Norwegian. I have little night lights everywhere, cozy blankies, LOVE my chai tea in the morning and always feel more peaceful when things are tidy (although I’m not as good at that part). I’m so glad there is a name for this. Nobody else in my family gets it.
@Lola Montez I love Indian food. My favorite. Chai makes me happy which is why I drink it. And it increases the feeling of Hygge for me. I’m off to make some now!
@Lola Montez I know quite a few people from India and have gotten in on their Chai thermos action many times. It’s SO GOOD. I used to have a neighbor from India and when her family would come to visit, they would make me a bunch of food. I was in heaven. Such wonderful people.
@@anashappydays chai is extra wonderful in the fall and winter, but it makes me happy all seasons! I have a good friend that is Norwegian (but born here in the states). She visits frequently and LOVES spending time with her relatives there. It is definitely her happy place. ❤️ Most likely because of a high Hygge factor. 😊
ahaha ok i have the auto-generated english captions on right now and at 3:12 the captions reads "the lighting in our home is said to be the key to creating the ultimate hooter space"
Thank you for sharing . A lovely video . I brought the two books weeks ago and not read them ..I feel a bit chaotic mentally at the moment , plus just going into lockdown again and I’ve been trying to be decluttered before I feel I can snuggle under a blanket to read them , I guess I’m worried that it will make me feel guilty in trying to be calm and relax a lot but knowing I’ve got stuff left to sort and finish and that underlying feeling will ruin it for me. I feel like I want to be decluttered before I chill..does anyone have advice on how they started if were in same position as me. Would it be better to read book first or get organised so no guilt first . I’ve 👍🏻🔔 to your lovely channel.💛
scented candles can add lots of chemicals to the air if the wax is impure or if the fragrances are lab-created using petroleum by products. These chemicals release hormone disruptors and are hard on lungs and internal organs. Please READ LABELS and buy pure organic products. For YOU your KIDS and PETS
Love your video. It isn't easy for me to make a hyggelig life but I try. I had a salt lamp but where I live it's soooo humid that it actually melted! The only way to keep it from melting would've been to keep it on 24/7. But I love candles and I have a lot and light a lot every night. (I put them out before bed.) I like essential oil burners too but they give our cat asthma attacks so I can't use them, I use incense. And I would so love to have a warm and cosy house with lots of blankets, sofas and cushions, but our cat also pees everywhere and he especially loves to pee on any kind of fabric (blankets, cushions and even the sofa). He's scheduled for an operation soon, hope that operation will temper his hormones down and he won't feel so compelled to mark everywhere and then we can have blankets and cushions again.
Hi! Thank you! It’s called “Crassula Perforata” 😊 If you’d like more info I have a video where I share more info on my plant collection here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k_QTU-7Dcf4.html
So many Utubers have made delightful videos using the same book and video style. Enjoyed this thanks. Have just subscribed. Greetings from Switzerland.
My husband has a knack for finding feathers, I have nicknamed him "many feathers," so we have a collection of hawk feathers on our table. Also, a piece of found wood with the bark on it, and a large stone from the property we used to live on.
I was actually thinking about this...and I came to the conclusion that, since hygge is more of a concept than anything else, it would apply to whatever it is that makes you feel comfy, really. e.g: the equivalent of warming up in winter, is cooling off during the summer, so, a big window, with a nice view ideally, that allows the wind to run through the house, and a refreshing cold beverage, and the scent of flowers floating in the house ...that all feels very hygge to me.
Your video was very nice. I too have been working on a minimalistic/hygge home. It makes me enjoy my space even more. I was having a hygge moment when I saw your video. Keep up the great job.
I also do all these things to maintain hygiene in my house, but I have a little boy who just messed up everything just after my cleaning 😀😀😀 and everything become just it was
What a lovely video, and just exactly what I needed right now. While I already have many of the elements of hygge, you have inspired me to further "hyggefy" my home. 😊 I just subbed, and look forward to watching more of your beautiful videos. 💐😊🌹♥️
Loved your video! I am trying to find a tray like yours, where did you get it? Also where do you buy most of your items, ie diffuser etc thanks for all the ideas.
Lovely huggelig video; I too have Meik Wiling’s little huge book which I keep by my bedside❤️ I love cosying down with a warm drink, soft socks, warm jumpers, a snuggly blanket, candles and a good book. I like the idea of fairy lights in a jar and will certainly copy that. I love salt lamps too but sadly I can’t have one as I live in a stone cottage and the moisture in the air slowly melts the lamp!
So happy I came across your channel! Loved everything about this video ❤️ You have a new subscriber! What's the name of the plant at 2:40? I'd love to get one!
Thank you so much and welcome aboard! So glad you enjoyed the video 🥰 That plant is called “Crassula Perforata.” They’re so beautiful and also easy to propagate!
Like your voice & your cozy home. Very hygge. I am learning how to create a hygge home for myself, however I have too much stuff and it's messy too. I have been decluttering each year little by little, month by month, I think I need another 2-3 yrs to do it so that my home will look clean & tidy all the time...then more space to create hygge like home. Looking forward to watch more your video to get some idea fm it.
