Great video mate! Cant wait till I get away from town and try all of this. Video idea: phone astrophotography with binoculars. Could be interresting to see how well phone these days can capture deep sky objects like andromeda and star clusters. Keep it up
@@ShayneMostyn I ended up buying a telelens that I can attach to my iphone, since I do not have the pro version, just iphone 12. The telelens can zoom in 20 to 40x. In addition, I can zoom in digitally zoom-in with the iphone. It is also small in size so its easy to travel with. The product is called "Apexel HD 20-40X", if you search apexel 20-40 moon then you can see a guy zooming in on the moon with it, with an iphone 6 (youtuber is called Whooshy Rider).
Why can’t we have more power cuts where I live!!! 😂 #TooMuchLightPollution Amazing video again, really appreciate the time you take to produce them 👍👍 #BloodyLegend
you should def do this video series again but with the 13 unless its not really big of a difference they way u explain and show us what to do is the best way to do it
You are amazing dude I was taking a picture of the stars last night using the app and my phone and took a really nice picture of the stars :) unfortunately we can’t see the Milky Way where we live but I got a good shot 👍
thanks for this new video shayne, just learnt that I was able to capture the ISS accidentally on my iphone12pro. I thought it was a shooting star but it was moving upwards. 😮
do u have like a playlist where u teach us from the ground up what to do how to do it and explain the apps you use a lil deeper cause I just came across your channel a week ago and I always wanted to take pics of the space but I didn't know that all this was possible on the iPhone and now in just ready to got out into nature and make amazing pics like u are
Thanks Shane, Im on the outskirts of London so even my Modded Canon cannot capture the MW - extremely soul destroying as I don't have filters either so I suspect i need to drive out into he countryside - find a dark or good Bortle site and try it out. Question: could I sue a filter so I don't have to travel into the countryside to take picture of the MW. Cheers mate! Simon
There are some filters you can get for DSLR but personally, I am not convinced they are worth the $$. The gain you get is negligible. If you cant capture the MW at least slightly, the filters wont do much for you. You will need to go away for the weekend mate ;)
@@ShayneMostyn Thanks mate! Sounds as if I will have to travel to use the camera but will take the iphone as well. I want to practice it as Im taking my wife to Iceland for our 25th Wedding Anniversary so I want to surprise her with taking a picture of us both under the Milky Way and then of course the Northern lights which she wants to see. Thanks again! Simon
I enjoyed the tutorial about tracking the ISS because I’ve seen guys capture great zoomed in shots of the ISS crossing the Full Moon. Now I know how to plan for this, although it could take a very long time to get that right again. But your whole video was great bud. I’ll use these tips with my iPhone 12 Pro here in New Zealand to get some great shots. I like the flashlight you use as well. I’d love to get some night shots with my Africa Twin as the subject and the night sky in the background... even though my AT is black 🤣👍🏼 You already got me to purchase PhotoPills and now I’m going to purchase NightCap and NightSky.
Thanks mate. The black AT would be an awesome photo to do like I did with the tree. Have a look at the video I did with my brother in law's ute at night. The AT would be done the same way. I am about to film another video doing something similar with my new bike.
Thanks mate. I dont think Im focusing on iPhone. Out of the last 10 videos, 4 have been S21U specific, 2 have been iPhone specific and the rest have been both in the same video. I think they all have their bonuses. The S21 has the manual mode and 100x zoom, whilst it would only be able to do 3 of the things in this video. Its a tough one.
I really mainly use the camera app for almost everything. I use the Night Cap app for some night stuff. I use Camera +2 for macro stuff and occasionally use Spectre for handheld long exposure and Slow Shutter for longer long exposure.
Yo sir I want to buy a binocular having 20×50 power is that good for star gazing? I choose celestron up-close 20×50 binocular is that good? Please reply
What flashlight are you using to paint the tree? Don’t you have to adjust your iPhone so it points higher in the sky for the galactic core? Also did you use 0.5X wide angle?
Flashlight is in description mate. Galactic core moves through the night, so you need to adjust your phone to where it is. The 0.5 wide angle is a higher aperture # so it doesn’t capture as much light.
Not specifically mate. I have a couple that work just fine. The one I use the most is a 20000mAh one. I take that away camping with me and it lasts days.
Did the iPhone somehow get better? I recall it being crushed by the s21 ultra when shooting at the galactic core but now they look comparable (My bet is Apple is applying much less noise reduction so it retains detail)
Interesting you ask this. I have actually thought the photos I am taking now are better than before. But I still dont think they are comparable. Still more detail with the S21U.
Nice shots with iPhone and yeah put something in your star trails that make shot better looking. I use stellarium because it's highly rated by astronomers and it's free. I find Photopills ok but I like it when they give me new ideas for example do star trails from your house window when your in your house. People say iPhone isn't that good for astrophotography but then they haven't heard or saw your iPhone 12 astrophotography because they are missing out knowing you as a legend. Probably may I'll be getting Hauwei P30pro and look forward to getting those shots I want. I had some help when I first used Hauwei P20 and with that help I've taken some great shots of milky way etc. I'd love to see the southern hemisphere night sky and who knows I may one day. 🌝🌝. Why hasn't Photopills got you in their team? They should get you because your better than most of them who waste thousands of money on expensive gear when you show smartphones are just as good and more fun plus smartphones you can phone people and text people when you want and send those great shots to people you know! You make it look easy and I love how you explain all this! Keep up the great work your doing here and learn people that smartphones and GoPros you can become a legend just like you! Stay safe mate and take care!
Thanks for the kind words mate. I used to use Stellarium years ago, before they had an app. When Photopills launched, it was perfect for what I was doing and I havent found a need to move away from it.
@@ShayneMostyn I am confused between iphone 14 pro and samsung galaxy s23 ultra please help me out , which is good for star trailing and astro photography , I am ok to pay one time subscription for paid apps in iphone but it shoudl work properly ? is there any chance iphone 15 can come up with better astro features and manal settings ?
You don’t just steel peter McKinnon’s idea when it comes to two minute Tuesdays and come up with a five minute Friday photographers respect each other and I’m sure it was an original idea of yours I just thought it was funny the intro really reminded me of two minute Tuesdays
Oh not at all. Pretty sure others were doing it before Peter, not that it matters really. Its just a way to show its a regular release day. I started with a 3 minute Thursday, but never made the video under 3 minutes, then went to 5 min Fridays.... hardly ever keep it under 5 minutes either. Thanks for watching mate.
@@ShayneMostyn Yeah youtube gave me a pop up saying " Pride 2021 A celebration in support of the LGBTQ Community. "Learn more". So I clicked leqrn more and your video was not far down the list of gay videos.
When lightpainting a vehicle, can it also be done properly with a regular flashlight or do you need a specific white color torch? Also, will you be in the actual photo should you accidentally walk in the frame while painting?
The torch should be one you can control the brightness. This is very important. You can try it with a regular flashlight, but if its too bright, there isnt much you can do about it. You can walk in front of it, as long as the torch is off.
