@Funny For Fun if you want to get down to it, we are the 5th civilization of mankind to live on this planet. Yes there where other civilizations here first that were completely destroyed by natural disasters before our race of man was even thought of. And our race will soon be destroyed too, and replaced with a new race humonoid kind.. So think on that for a minute.
As someone who lives in the south, I’ll gladly take the north over the south any day. The only thing the south has going for it is tea and (mostly) mild winters.
The American crocodiles are in fact native and shy creatures. Florida is the northernmost part of their range. The pythons have been released by careless pet owners, multiply and threaten native species.
manxkin - It seems you know your stuff about this, which clearly I don't, so I have some questions to ask. I've actually never seen a croc or an alligator in the wild, for some strange reason, that I'm thankful for. As pets (back in the old days) and by photographs, I can tell them apart. Are they crocs, or alligators as well, that can actually be found in the Gulf of Mexico, or Atlanic ocean, meaning, of the sea, rather than just the rivers and estuaries? Do crocs tend to be larger than gators? Is one more aggressive than the other? I know you should never turn your back on either, but I've never actually seen one of either in the wild, oddly, as I've been around, where they have been known to be.
@@dobiebloke9311 American crocodiles are slightly larger than alligators and many people consider them more aggresive (human deaths are a bit more common in other parts of their range) but not nearly so much as Saltwater or Nile crocodiles. Escaped Nile crocodiles have been found in the everglades and they may be breeding.
dobie bloke American crocodiles are saltwater crocodiles and American alligators live mainly in fresh or brackish water. Neither one are particularly aggressive unless one presents themselves as struggling in the water or gets too close in which case they can be particularly aggressive. While four Nile crocodiles were captured in 2016, they are believed to be the only ones of their species not in captivity in Florida.
@@johnwanderin3872 Crocodiles are the thick built ones and are generally darker so they can sit at the bottom of the swamp bed while Alligators generally have "V" shaped heads and a skinnier body with lighter shades of green to hide in grass
@@saintsinner4074 other way around, crocodiles have the V shape while alligators have the U shape snout. You can also see both rows of teeth when a Croc has its mouth closed compared to an alligator and its slight overbite, where you can only see the top row.
St. Augustine, FL, claims to be the oldest city in the country. There has been lots of valuable treasures unearthed there, but it is mostly protected from treasure hunters in a move to preserve the city's character.
My parents had moved to Florida from Wisconsin when my brother was a baby and my mom was pregnant with me. However, it wasn't until a little over 3 years later when my brother came home from his 1st day of kindergarten with a note pinned to his shirt that said not to let your child play near the lake across from the school because there were alligators in there that my mom really felt that she lived in Florida.
I live in Florida and every night raccoons and possums come to my house in search of any cat food that wasn't eaten. There's woods behind my house that they live in. The American crocodile is native to south Florida. If you come to Florida go to Gator land, it's near Disneyworld!
I live in Iowa in the middle of the city and I have a posse of raccoons and a possum I've named Judith that visit every nite to eat cat food and whatever leftovers I toss out!
My favorite place to view alligators is in Shark Valley (located near Everglades, west side of Alligator Alley...writing this makes me laugh. Sounds so intimidating.) I live in Bradenton where South Florida Museum is located and used to work there...even showed off the fossilized poop proudly.
There was an episode of My Strange Addiction with a man who was attracted to his car. It was very uncomfortable to watch. You guys really need to react to that show.
Also they don’t really share the same exact environment as alligators live in sweet water and crocodiles live in salt water but can swim into sweet water areas.
Floridian here- I have never heard of the skateboard licenses? My husband loves skateboarding and has never once been asked for a license- we also have skateparks all over and no one checks any licenses 👀 maybe it’s in some parts of Florida? We’re in central and that’s not a thing
Delaware: no sales tax, no wind insurance, no hurricane insurance, average property tax per year is 600 and even that is reduced by 500 dollars for seniors, less than 2 percent income tax. Retirement income is not taxed. Yes, Delaware is full of exFloridians who moved here because it was too expensive in Florida to live there.
We have both indigenous & invasive crocodiles in Florida. Nile Crocodiles have been spotted; other posters have already mentioned the American Crocodile.
Fun fact! The scientific term for fossilized poo is "coprolite". 💩 I love that word because I think it is hilarious that there is an English word for dinosaur doo! 💩
You should visit the Treasure Coast of Florida if you are looking for treasure on a vacation. There are lots of boating charters there. For reference it is just south of the Space Coast area. 😊
D all my D is the scuba diver. He does a lot of river diving in Ga and Fl. When you make a trip to Fl, you have to visit Circle B Bar Reserve in Lakeland, it's free. It's a wildlife preserve full of gators that you can walk amongst. The hiking trails wind through a marsh frequented by a large variety of birds and gators regularly cross the path in front of people. I love to walk there as you never know what you'll see walking right next to you. From gators to raccoons, bobcats, bunnies, blue herons; it's beautiful. Google or search on youtube for humpback the alligator.
Last July I was walking in Venice Beach and Tom Felton (Draco) zoomed past me on his skate board with his dog. Almost fell over! First time seeing a celeb, and it was a HP actor♥️
Here is a day in the life story from a native Floridian. I was driving my nephew to school because he missed the bus. His school was located just outside the more rural area of town but on a heavily travelled road for morning traffic. We got caught in a traffic jam because a large alligator decided to a take a nap in the middle of the road where the sun was shining brightly on him. It was mating season for the gators so my nephews tardiness was forgiven without incident. A gator causing travel issues is quite common during mating season because they are moving from one body of water to another searching for females. It took an hour for fish and wildlife officers to show up and another 30 minutes to wake the boy up to get him to move. The Game Warden said it took so long to get here because they had a couple of bull gators fighting in the parking lot at the hospital on the other side of town.
Drive through services are a Godsend for moms with small children. If you’ve got two or three kids who all need to be unbuckled and/or carried in, you LOVE drove through services!
Hey you guys, been watching you guys non stop the last few day, as I am new to your channel. You guys actually have put me in the mood to go back in time...early 80's listen to some of my favorite bands from England..Britian and even Scotland. I am from America and this reminded of one of your episodes you did and commented on music and origins from America. Well, I just have to say, like the British invasion of the Beatles in the 60's, it was all about the invasion of the 80's groups such as Tears for Fears, Depech Mode, Duran Duran, Boy George, Simple Minds, George Michael...the list goes on!! Best time of my life!
Wait, Joel.. I love you so so much but why on earth would you be like, “the crocodiles are the ones you need to look out for, they’re aggressive” and NOT teach her how to tell the difference?! 🤣 I’m not even from Florida (but I vacation there often) and I had these things drilled into my head countless times as a kid lol.. For anyone who’s interested: When looking from above the head, alligators have a “U” shaped snout, crocodiles have a more “V” shaped snout.. Also, crocodiles have a fourth tooth that is visible with their mouth closed that goes from the bottom jaw pointed upwards, while alligators’ visible teeth seem to all be downward pointing.. Not gonna lie I didn’t know the tooth thing but 🤷🏼♀️
Easiest way to tell the difference between a croc and a gator. Gator- Flat, pancake head. Croc- Long, Hot dog snout. It sounds funny, but if look at the heads, that's how you tell them apart. Also, in regards to the treasure around florida, there's actually an area from the coast of Vero Beach down to about West Palm, called the treasure coast. The treasure is from ships that sunk due to the Great Barrier Reefs
So many Floridians are either hyper fit beauties or senior skinny. I credit the Early Bird Specials. Served between 3 and 5 afternoons. Half the size for two thirds the price. Roll and beverage included. xx
I knew an elderly couple in Miami who lived in their car. Eventually the woman was unable to leave the car so they put in a toilet in the back. The woman sat on the toilet permanently and grew to the toilet and was stuck. She died on the toilet and the toilet had to be cut out to remove her. Her name was Midge.
The thing with the church is pretty great because that is what my church did for coronavirus. They started drive-in church so we could be distanced but still have a live message. We started that in mid-April and stopped around August.
Until a few years ago there was a drive thru wedding chapel near my home in South FL. I never saw anyone in line there and the building was there for like 20 years!
I live in Florida and had no idea about just about all of these! Besides the treasure. There is a museum about an hour south of me that holds some of the things found.
My American husband took me, a Canadian to a drive though beer store in PA. It is not your classic drive though, you actually drive your car into the building and then drive out the other side. It was mind blowing.
Hi Joel and Lia. Absolutely hilarious video, especially the bit about the law against oral sex. "Raise your hand if you've broken the law?."...and "arrest me, I just [....]" .....lol....Lia, well done......and Joel calling the police, "I need to confess." My Lord man, I almost spit out my drink when you said that.....lol. Regarding your question, 1% of 2 trillion is 20 billion. Love you guys..........💖
When I was a teenager I was walking my cousins pomeranian near Sarasota, Fl and we happened upon an alligator . I was afraid it was going to attack the dog!
Floridian! Just a day or 2 ago, a man rescued his puppy from a small alligator- it’s on RU-vid! I say small alligator, it looked about 4 feet long. In central Florida, there’s lots of places you can go walk around and see gators, no fences. If you’re interested I have a video on my channel about Circle B Bar Ranch (a large protected wetland) in central Florida. We do have a lot of interesting museums!
We don't raise our hands in america in church. Lived in Florida, alabama, north carolina, South carolina, Missouri, wyoming and now georgia and went to church in each and nobody does that. We just bow our heads and close our eyes in silence. Except for that one kid on the verge of crying of boredome
A great video for y'all to do is a reaction video to news stories of "Florida Man" -- Google "Florida Man" and read the headlines and do a reaction video to those stories. LOL 😂
I'm from Louisiana.... Alligators will attack, will bite, and will try to kill you. Disney World had an incident at one of their resort hotels where a toddler was attacked and eaten by an alligator on the premises
South Florida Museum is located in Bradenton and has since changed their name to The Bishop Museum of Science and Nature. Also included are a Planetarium and Parker Manatee Rehabilitation Habitat on site.
In eastern North Carolina (the Outer Banks) and and Virginia (Virginia Beach) there is a small chain of drive through convenience stores that sells beer amongst other things. The chain is called called "Brew Thru". Knowing the love Brits have for alcoholic beverages, this type of store would be a big hit in the UK.
Not sure if it still exists, but when I went to Tampa for university in the 90’s, there was a drive through liquor store. Only place I’ve ever seen it 😂
An alligator and crocodile are physically different. You can tell if you look at them side by side. Neither are imported into the US. "Oral" is the mouth. "Aural" is the ears.
I miss being in FL and riding past the lakes and seeing the alligators sunbathing. I used to kayak in the Wekiwa River and row right past the gators too. (And they also keep them in Kiddie pools in some of the flea markets - which I DON’T agree with...but I still miss the experience)
Considering the amount of living fossils, makes perfect sense they might have a droppings museum. There is a Drag-Racing Museum off of I-75 in North Florida. Every time I pass the sign the "Racing" part has been blanked-out.
the craziest drive-up convenience I know of is I saw a drive-up ATM (cash point) and because of disabled access requirements, it had braille adaptation in case the driver who wanted to use it was blind.
Hey guys - it's crocs that won't mess with you unless you are in their space. Alligators wait until you are close and then go on the attack. They are actually super fast when they are on the hunt. They just wait until you are close enough unless they are hungry. We have more alligator attacks on people and pets then you hear about crocs.
Get this, drive thru liquor stores! I don’t know if there are any left, but I remember they were a thing in at least the Florida Panhandle in the 90s and earlier
Alligators will attack if they think you are food. Pretty much splashing in a certain environment or at feeding time. There was a little boy at a Disney world resort several years back that was killed by an alligator. He was splashing by the lagoon at his resort.
The American Crocodile is a native to Florida all the way down to South America. Also it's not Anacondas in the Everglades, but Burmese pythons that are invasive. There are pythons hunters who make money catching them. Also Iguanas are invasive in south Florida.
Hey hey hey!!!! My farmhouse wad built in 1908. It's a proper house. Only thing it could use another bathroom, and closets in the bedrooms. Instead we're have top use wardrobes like Joel.
You guys are probably my favorite RU-vidrs. Just to start out, Joel complains about his parents possibly selling their Florida vacation home, and says “I know, first world problems.” And Lia chimes in with “but you’re allowed to be sad.” Thanks for reminding me that I’m allowed to feel human emotions over my own first world problems.
During Covid we had drive in church. I loved it!!!! I hate socializing lol introvert and social anxiety but I still want to “go to church” now my church is back to indoor worship. 😬 I’m going but it’s again difficult because of the socializing lol I mean…. I have friends but I hate the overly extroverted expectations sometimes lol
