The University of Miami is the worst for CFB considering how much else the program has going for it. The stadium is so far from campus that it’s impossible to draw a crowd unless Florida State is in town. People were only half-joking when they said Miami was the only school that saw an attendance increase in 2020.
College names are confusing enough as it is. Most states have a University of (State) and a (State) State. Then, like you mentioned, there’s Miami of Ohio.
Honorable mention, Tropicana Field in Tampa Bay home of the Rays. The facility is more like a Hockey arena than a Baseball ballpark, a little history fact the Lightning use to play their NHL home games at the Trop in their first couple of seasons in their early inaugural expansion era until the Lightning got their own permanent NHL arena.
@depressedginger. The only thing you got wrong about Pitt playing at Heinz Field or whatever it is now is that the stadium was actually built with the Pitt football team in mind and with input from the university of Pittsburgh. I have been to that city a few times and there really isn't a place to build another stadium. Duquesne plays football ( yes Duquesne has a football team that plays FCS Football. I learned that because they played my Vols last year. I was like.....WHAAAATTT??!! lol) on a hill over looking the Monongahela River squeezed in between some buildings with high school styled bleacher seating. And speaking of bad stadium situations. While not hosting a major pro or collage sports team. The Civic Coliseum in my hometown of Knoxville, TN (Go Vols) is as bad as any in the country. It was built in the 60's and is HORRIBLY small and outdated. The Knoxville Ice Bears Hockey team plays there. Knoxville has a metro population of almost 1 million people(1.2 M CSA), and have lost TWO minor league hockey teams to much smaller markets because of the arena situation. The Tennessee Smokies Double A Baseball team which will become the Knoxville Smokies is going to be moving into a state of the art new Multi purpose stadium with the One Knoxville USL Soccer team that basically is a mini Truist Park in the Old City of Downtown Knoxville. The city needs a likewise state of the art new municipal arena with at least 10-13 k seats for its Hockey team and other sports, events, and conventions ASAP!!! Also with the new proposed Vols entertainment district between Neyland Stadium and Thompson-Boling Arena, the Arena is in bad need of an exterior makeover. Neyland Stadium is in the midst of a 400 million dollar renovation and upgrade. The Arena needs it too! Neyland Stadium is beautiful looking from the Tennessee River TB Arena is horrible. That entertainment district is going to be🔥though. Think LA Live but for college!
How about the situation of the Walter Pyramid at Long Beach State? Thanks to the lack of maintenance the roof leaks when it rains and they have to move events to a 70 year old, 1500 seat decrepit gym. And they don't have $55 million to fix a 30 year old roof.
I really like this channel and seeing the renderings of potential new stadiums and everything, but this dude cracks me up sometimes. If an arena/stadium is more than a decade old, my guy is always calling for a new venue or serious renovations. 😂😅😂
I would have included Portland State Vikings football. They play at Hillsboro Stadium which not only have limited amount of seats, but also in a similar situation with Yankee Stadium. PSU Vikings need to return to Providence Park in my opinion.
I think Philly should build a new MLS stadium in the giant parking lots that surround all of the stadium there since the current one is really far away and it should be able to host Temple games, similar to how some MLS stadiums host XFL teams
USF's administration made fun of UCF for building a campus stadium, stating they were not good enough to get anywhere near filling the Citrus Bowl and USF was a superior program because they were good enough to be playing in an NFL stadium. Since then UCF has had three BCS appearances (with two wins) and been invited into the Big 12 and USF has become completely irrelevant lol.
I went to Temple. I never went to a football game. There was talk of building a football stadium near or on campus but I haven't heard anything lately.
Thge new ownership is committed to a massive cleanup of FedEx which started this year. Eventually they will build a new facility in DC, likely at the location of the old RFK.
0:31 NYCFC can't get their stadium soon enough, but considering how long it's taken them to get their new stadium in Queens near Citi Field with all of the proposals getting , it's actually progress. 3:02 I seem to recall Temple proposing to build a football stadium close to campus, but residents in North Philly were strongly opposed to it. The Pitt situation is similar to Temple's, but Pitt and the Steelers also share a training facility on the South Side close to campus. Pitt has a far better relationship with the Steelers compared to the relationship between Temple and the Eagles. The old Pitt Stadium site was essentially redeveloped into an expansion of the sprawling UPMC health care campus and there's nowhere to build. Yes, it sucks not being able to play on campus, but a lot of kids from Western Pennsylvania might overlook that and jump at a chance to play at the Steelers' stadium. 7:05 New York City drags their feet on building a new NYCFC stadium... The state of Hawaii's government responds: "Hold my mai tai and watch this." Just embarrassing for an FBS program to be playing at a venue that's worse than some FCS stadiums.
In one respect, Temple's situation is better than either South Florida or Miami - the students can take the subway from campus to Lincoln Financial, which to some extent eases the burden of the stadium not being on campus.
The A’s NEED to stay in the Oakland area and build a new stadium in the Oakland area, and the A’s moving to Vegas is TOTALLY SENSELESS, John Fisher DOES NOT know what he’s doing, he’s a sorry owner of a Major League Baseball team, here’s some advice for you John Fisher, SELL THE TEAM ALREADY so the A’s CAN STAY IN THE OAKLAND AREA AND BUILD A NEW STADIUM!!!!!!
Why would you stay in Oakland there is already a much better team across the bay also Vegas is a popular tourist attraction which means say it with MORE MONEY besides you will have more fans with all of Nevada, Utah, and Oakland supporting your team
Temple had decent crowds when they had a good team. They even sold out Lincoln Financial Field when they played Notre Dame. They also get big crowds when they play Penn State. If they had more big name schools come to play there, they would get bigger crowds.
So because small market college teams play at world class professional facilities that are undersold.. this makes them "worst stadium situations in America"? Do you want these teams playing on local high school fields? Would this be better?
@@JakeMcshane3 to play in a shittier stadium that cost the colleges millions? doesn't make sense. Rent the space, play in a nicer facility, easy access in and out for fans. Why build new if you cant fill 20% of existing stadiums?
There is some irony in the Clippers not wanting to share the same building as the Lakers so they're moving to the city where the Lakers USED to play. Especially since the very reason the two teams have been sharing an arena is Donald Sterling insisted the team stay in actual Los Angeles and thus refused to move the team full time to Anaheim.
Hawaii, talk about being between a rock and a hard place. The Rock being the OG local's not wanting new buildings to be built on their land, and the Hard Place being the NCAA demanding a new stadium.
The locals won’t get a say. Look how developed Honolulu is already, and the amount migrants from the mainland that don’t care about preserving the island is too much. Money talks 🤑
I would’ve put pitt on here if you had usf and temple. They get more fans than them at heinz field but they still never sell out unless pitt or wvu comes there and it’s filled with half their fans. But like temple they can’t build on their campus without knocking buildings down so they’re just screwed rn
As a pitt student I disagree (I went to most of the football games). YES our attendance situation was pretty bad relative to the stadium, but when pitt plays psu, Clemson, wvu, or bigger schools, it does usually get good sales, and Pitt in my experience makes up most of the fans (although admittedly there is a higher portion of “other” fans than I’d personally like). The big thing is that the ACC doesn’t have names like bama or osu or like big colleges to have fans want to go to their games for football (acc is a mid football confrence). When we do, we usually have a solid crowd. Also, as a student, me and some friends went around campus looking for open space. Currently there is massive construction for a different typa sports venue, but when that’s done, there literally wouldn’t be anything. But I wouldn’t put it on this list. Plus, most of the fans at the wvu game were pitt fans (I was at the game). Pitt fans come to support if we are facing a team that we don’t like or is actually good at football. Plus temple and usf don’t sell out ever, and when pitt gets the chance to play someone known it does (or at least it breaks the Pittsburgh sporting record for attendance). Temple plays nobody schools cuz they’re part of the MAC. But that’s me getting defensive 😂, and honestly the same could be said for Miami and other power 5 schools playing in nfl stadiums
Giants aren't sharing Oracle Park with the A's(around 9:30 mark) Another bad stadium/arena situation: Calgary, the Flames want out of the Saddledome, yet can't find a way out/get a new arena built
Dumb idea, but I looked up on Google Earth and looked at how far Lincoln Financial Field was from Temple's campus, and noticed and remember that UPenn has a nice historic stadium. I checked the distances and wouldn't you know it, UPenn is like 2.5 miles from Temple's campus vs ~5 miles to LFF. Considering Temple almost never breaks 20k people for attendance, I think they could work out a sharing deal with UPenn's Franklin Field, Franklin Field is ~52k seats, almost 20k seats smaller than LFF, but considering Temple only gets 20k to begin with (and UPenn never breaks 10k), it's not like they're gonna break capacity are they? Not to mention, I'd like to think Franklin Field would be cheaper to rent than LFF.
They did play at FF about 15 years ago when there were conflicts and they couldn't play at Veterans Stadium. But that could be a problem because Penn plays Saturday afternoon too. Plus I don't think Temple liked playing at FF. Maybe it felt like they were playing at another college stadium or they didn't like FF was so old. I think they prefer the new NFL stadium over the historic stadium.
Fedex Field is worse than at least all of the college football mentioned (except Hawaii) and also worse the soccer and baseball stadiums mentioned since as far as i know none of those have tried to kill the fans (bad fences by stairs) or showered the fans with poowater.
You do great videos - but the Coyotes are negotiating for four different locations. Most of them don't need a vote. The two best opportunities are in Scottsdale and Mesa (not Fiesta Mall). Also, they did better financially at Mullett because they had the third highest ticket price in the NHL.
Thank you. I’m glad you filled him in on the Coyotes situation. He needs to do more research on these topics instead of guessing that “probably” the Coyotes will relocate. As you said, relocation hasn’t been mentioned by anyone except the media which seems wildly misinformed.
Coyotes NEED to relocate OUT of Arizona. This team has been an absolute joke of a franchise and Gary Bettman's constant attempts to keep them in the desert. Nobody cares about them. All the fans that attend the games are fans of the visiting team. Just cut your losses and leave Arizona just like many are leaving California.
bank of america stadium is the original stadium for the carolina panthers not counting clemson university's stadium they played their until the then ericsson stadium now bank of america stadium was completed it's over 25+ years old i hope a new stadium happens in the near future but owner david tepper would have to get it done sooner than later. i love my home team 💙🖤 #keeppounding
Well Temple DOESNT HAVE THEIR OWN FIELD! 2 or 3 yrs ago Temple tried to build their own and residents who live at the site were against it. So where do you propose Temple play their games at or where do you think Temple should build?
Because multi-purpose just means being configured to be used for multiple sports. So yes, every high school that has a football or soccer field that can properly host other sports is multi-purpose, even if it's all rectangular fields.
The difference is sight lines. Soccer stadium bowls are usually much closer to the field than Football bowls. Especially in the corners. Mercedes Benz Stadium here in Atlanta accounts for this by adjustable seating im the corners and adjoining sidelines.
Gary Bettman: Admit defeat with the failed Arizona experiment and move the team to Houston already. So obvious. Why would you not rather have a franchise in Houston instead of Phoenix.....? The fact it's 2023 and there's still no NHL team in Houston is ridiculous.
temple used to play at the old vet I swear there must have been 10 fans at a home game lol they really need their own stadium they'll never fill it up unless its the army/navy game
Oh, remember in 2015 when Notre Dame beat #7 Temple at the Linc with a FULL HOUSE and that was the Saturday Night Football game on ABC? And Philly's historic area was showcased on ESPN College Gameday!
I disagree that having college teams play in NFL stadiums is a bad situation. These situations are promotional opportunities and if they had cheap tickets and sold out they would be great venues.
If you think Yankee stadium is bad for football (soccer) then you should look at Liverpool vs roma at fenway park lol. Image sitting on the green monster behind th goal
If Alabama plays South Florida this year hopefully it gets the NFLs attention to expand in Alabama i mean they dont have and professional teams besides the XFL team and FedEx Field should've been on the list horrible condition the commanders or what ever there called should relocate and change the name
The giants won’t allow the as to play at their park. That’s the whole reason why they are leaving. Territory issues. San Francisco owns rights all the way to Santa Cruz
You should have mentioned the Yale Bowl. Yale built the stadium for when they used to sell it out but now they get two ppl to a game in a 50k seat stadium. that or georgia tech in the old braves stadium.
Temple University sits surrounded by a residential area (the hood) of North Philly. They try to cram what they can in that space but its never gonna be stadium family unless they push people out. Same with Many big named artists play at a theatre called The Met but it's immediate area surrounding it is in a terrible space. Its not ideal for students but then playing at the Linc is for the best for now.
Idea for next video: international stadiums that could replace some of the current NFL ones and fit NFL teams if they were built in that city, like Wembley could be good for the 49ers if located in SF
FC Dallas’s Toyota Stadium is bad. Should have addressed that. I don’t care for the open-air concourses. No protection from the rain and heat. FC Dallas needs a new stadium. Toyota is outdated.
