Not gonna happen at the lakefront! They will be in Arlington Heights. Friends of the Park, the Illinois Legislature, and taxpayers are all against this plan. The first group, Friends of the Park might be the toughest hurdle. Chicago was built around a free and open public lakefront - Look up Daniel Burnham. Friends of the Park shut down George Lucas and his Star Wars Museum and numerous other lake side projects. Also, there has been so much dread over the first renovation, and asking for this plan (just as the White Sox also are looking for a stadium deal ) is a non-starter. I believe Warren did this to block the White Sox from getting state money and leaving the Bears to fund their stadium (no matter the location) totally on their own. It's a ploy to get something from the state for the Arlington Heights deal. Take this stadium and plop it in Arlington Heights. There is SOOO much room there, the Bears can make money selling off the extra land they don't want.
This will never happen. The designer who came up with this is a kook! There isn't going to be a Brookpark stadium. Everyone needs to come to grips that Haslam is playing Cleveland.
Anything the City of Chicago touches becomes mismanaged from before it even starts. Arlington Heights makes so much more sense. Nobody watching a football game cares about being on the lakefront. What they care about is getting in and out of the area safely, accessible parking, and what happens on the field. This will be a political football for the City of Chicago to mismanage with un-qualified patronage positions, just like Soldier Field always has been.
The City of Chicago has way too many issues to deal with at the moment than making a decision on a new stadium for the Bears. The public doesn't want to see their tax dollars used to build a stadium that won't give them a return in their investment, worse, all of the earnings will go to the owners and the NFL. Teams have built outside their intended cities and have not seen their profits go down (look at the Cowboys, 49ers, both New York teams, etc.). If Arlington Heights is willing to give them all that they want, just take it and build the stadium there. You are asking a city that has major problems with crime, unhappy citizens, and companies moving out to give you around 5 to 6 billion dollars. Oh, and let's not forget that the White Sox want a new stadium too.
Huge Yankee fan here but Citi Field is so much nicer. The interior field does have issues but for fans the stadium has so much to offer and its a pleasure walking around it.
I wish you had said the name of the team that played in each stadium. Most I knew and the rest I could figure out but that would have been nice. Otherwise enjoyable video.
The architect talked about doing a reclamation project, where the lake front land would be extended out right in front of where the stadium sits currently to build the Hexatron. Then they could tear down the old stadium and build whatever they want there.
Its freaking amazing that they plan on making the same mistake again, this is another stupid idea. No one wants to go to St Peterburg, build it in Tampa!
1) TORONTO 2) San Antonio or Austin 3) Portland 4) St. Louis Move LA Chargers to San Diego Leave it FOREVER...(until you relocate Buffalo and Jacksonville)
having Gillette stadium at 26...shows you don't know ur soccer. every game is sold out between 65-70k fans, the stadium is renovated the fans are passionate and loud for the full 90+ min without sitting... this should be top 3-5 on the list. do more research
Let me just help you end your coverage of a new Bears stadium right now. First, the Chicago Bears ownership is one of the most inept in professional sports. Expecting them to build a new state of the art stadium is like expecting the Three Stooges to paint your house properly. Second, the Bears have been talking about moving to Arlington Heights since the 70's, Soldier Field was supposed to only be temporary. And third, the way the Bears screwed up the renovation of Soldier Field and the amount of money the taxpayers are still liable for on that, they'll likely be playing there until it literally falls in on itself. So you can stop wasting you time time talking about a new stadium for the Bears.
We shot it down. Didn’t know where it was headed to in D.C. and feared the worst so we had to shoot it down. The story put out there was some passengers tried to fight and take over the plane at the last minute and and fight off the terrorist. But we had to shoot it down to prevent casualties in D.C.
Maybe jeff bezos, elon musk, or bill gates should own the Chicago bears. Those guys have enough money to build a new stadium for the bears and without public funding.
The City, Cook County and Illinois are feeling the heat from their citizen and illegal residents. They do not want to pay for a $2.5BN stadium- period. They aren’t Bear fans or White Sox fans or any sports franchise, for that matter.
Has nothing to do with illegals it has everything to do with the fact that spending an additional $5,000,000,000 of public money to fund a new stadium is not a good use of money. It’s actually bad economics to do this.
It is ridiculous to expect working people to pay for a stadium that benefits a billionaire owner and millionaire fans (the only people who can afford to attend the games).
Yankee stadium stays the same. People come to Yankee stadium to watch the Ruths, Jeters and Judges play, Yankees try not to take much of the distractions off the players. You got teams like the Mets who need mascots and things to entertain the fans from whats going on in the field😂
It's all about the money $$$ just build what you can afford!!! If they would have built Soilder field the right way the first time then this would not be happening!!! It's like your own home if you build it big enough and with nice features you will stay a long time just keep up with renovations and maintenance!!! The tax payers don't want to pay for something that cost this much pay for your own stadium you billionaires!!! Look at the Ceasers Superdome in New Orleans it was built so good and ahead of its time its still looking modern in 2024 and getting renovated now $550 million in progress!!! Just build it correct the first time common sense!!!
