I used some top quality High Solids clear a month ago that was 5 or more years old. I did purchase new activator for it. No problems but while mixing it looked a little yellow which this clear isn't known for (age?). On the car it look FABULOUS!
Usual clear coat has a 12 month life span. Just fyi. You can still use old clear but it will have tiny pin holes all over from gassing . Only if your good at auto body will you see it though
Would this lower price clear go well with the speedokote high gloss bright white paint? Saw you do a g37 or something like that with white paint but not sure what clear coat you used.

Hey Marco. After watching your videos I tried speedokote for the first time. I refinished a new front bumper and a new chin spoiler. I laid down ppg base on both and cleared the bumper with the high gloss super fast clear with the medium activator. Then cleared the chin spoiler with the same clear and used the Smr-160 flexible activator. The Chin spoiler came out looking like glass and looked so much better then the bumper did. Same technique and same gun (Iwata Lph400) was used. What would your thoughts be?
Speedokote refinish network Yes less gloss. On the Chin splitter it literally laid like glass. On the bumper I had very minimal orange peel but didn’t come out near as glossy as the chin splitter. I am spraying over high-performance white on a mustang.
I have had this happen sometimes if you reduce this clear coat, spray to much blending solution on it for a blend job or if this stuff is exposed to super cold temps while curing overnight it can have fad issues. To fix this just a light buff and your good to go bud. No problem .
Speedokote refinish network Cure temp was about 75*. No blending agent no nothing. Just mixed 4:1 as it called for. I did buff and polish and it came out looking like the Chin splitter did right off the gun. This afternoon I sprayed 2 new side window louvers. One with just the reducer for the clear and the other with the flex reducer and had the same outcome on them. I’m a little disappointed to be honest.

That miata....looks a awful lot like the one I have right now....mine is also a 1995 red miata....and it's also had it's paint redone at some point in it's life
@@speedokoterefinishnetwork4937 haha. Its fun to imagine it's the same one pfff. In which case, it's getting it's paint redone again by me. Swapping the color to gloss smoke gray. I ain't no pro but we'll see how this goes
@@speedokoterefinishnetwork4937 I mean yea, but I don't have a compressor, paint gun, or paint booth, and the paint on the car is far beyond repair. As long as it looks good I'm happy. Plus it's a drift car that will more than likely end up scratched at some point so no use buying the equipment to do one paint job that will more than likely be killed later.

How long does this last over shop line ss ae metallic? If I spray it on my car it will be waxed every 2 weeks once the gas off period is over, could I see 10-20 years out of it?
I know for a dead solid fact our glamor production clear never has this problem I sprayed it on my blue Honda in my very first RU-vid videos and it never dyed back even after a year
Another excellent video Marco! What brand of base coat is that and what's the color name and code? I have a tailgate from a '35/'36 Ford truck I picked up last year at a swap meet and I plan on cleaning it up and painting it blue with silver letters to mimic the Ford logo.
