This is my Dad. And there's no excuses. I would ask him what was wrong with the car, but unfortunately he passed away on October of last year from Pancreatic Cancer. This car was his baby. We all signed the hood of it during his Celebration of Life. This is the only video I have that I can hear my Dad's voice and remember him. Thank you for your comment.
Sorry about your Dad.RIP.From the looks of the operation of the car.Its seems there could be a driveline problem.Like a broken axel,or maybe a driveshaft,or transmission failure. My opinion.
I feel your pain. My dad passed 2011. My brother and I took our 67 chevelle to the track after. As we did every weekend with him. I made one pass. Loaded it up. Parked it my shop. Put a cover on it. 5yrs ago. My brother took it redid all of it. And does shows. During the rebuild. We found a vid from his camcorder under the seat. It was off the last pass he made. And won a big shot out in memphis. We still watch it sometimes. Miss you pop.
I just watched this and thought it was cool as hell. Big power sometimes does erratic things. Anyone who has been to a drag strip has seen a race car burn the plugs at the start line or get sideways on a burnout. I lost my Dad in 2012 to prostate cancer. I would have given a lot to share an experience like this with him. I just happened on your video. What a cool memory. My condolences.
Just watch the video, then read the comment. It and make our enthusiastic. I recently have had cancer. Your daddy was a tough man. I'm glad you have that video. God bless both of you and your family.
You can always tell a true car guy from the giggle he has after getting pinned to his seat/getting sideways and coming back/ or just hearing the engine roar from a beast he's driving :D
i love that video and what that car could do . then i read the comments and it made me cry . at least you have this and memories of great times you shared . . i lost my mom back in '04 and its still hard at times
For all those "not 1300" comments. Notice the 6-72 or W510 sitting under those carburators? On a mild BBC that thing only needs to turn around 10-14psi to kick out 1300hp (hell, with a good setup 7psi or less will get you 1k+). Those tiny air cleaners don't provide enough restriction to even come close to preventing the blower from making that amount of boost. It's not efficient, but it is totally doable.
Reminds me of the fun I had cruising my 65 El Camino on E Street San Bernardino back in the middle 70's. We never got shut down in 2 years of racing every Friday and Saturday night and raced all challengers no matter what size motor they had or what carb combo. We just ran one 650 Dual Feed Double Pumper and 11:1 TRW pistons, our cam was rated mostly strip, little street about 8000 was max hp produced. Todays factory 'hot rod' cars I see seem a bit slow to me, but what do I know.
i know how you feel as thats the same with my dad and my son, they are both gone now, but i still keep the trucks up and running, hoping you are keeping this car on the road, if not just for a weekend run you deserve that, hug's
I am so sorry for your loss. Great car, keep it forever, and don't let it sit. I hope my girls grow up like you, and want to come and ride in dad's car instead of sitting inside playing on their phones.
Cool video, awsome burn out!I'm sorry about your dad ..i also lost mine a few years ago too.God is the only one that can heal your heart,it just takes some time,God bless.l
I miss my 1970 Chevelle Malibu SS 454 V8 ...It didn't make that kind of HP but it did decent with our mods at 500+ HP..My friends named it "CASPER" after the friendly ghost because it was painted Ghost White
i wish we had the mechanics that the people in the comments pretend to be. i cant tell how much hp something has by only its carb and cleaners. but these genius fuck sticks can apperently
Jacob Mcgann air cleaner= absolutely nothing lol.. I have years under my belt and I wont ecen go out on a limb trying to guess the carb setup.. I see a blower and hope theyre blowthru carbs and say "cool car bro" lol
Looks like ur Dad was a Cool Dad. That motor would look perfect in my 66 Goat. The rear main seal went. It's a 400. So my thinking is a 383 is needed to fix the seal. Thanks again for the clip
When I had my 1970 Chevelle 502 CI V8 I would first do a burn out before trying to go fast if you don’t do a burn out first you’re going to go everywhere
1:54 it's just flooded, hold the throttle wide open and crank it to get some air into the engine. Check the float levels on the bowls when you get home.
i like how everyone in the comment section is now an expert that all know everything about cars and know from a 2min youtube vid that it dont have 1300hp
+Kyle Mosconi Because there is no way it has 1300hp unless he is running C16 gas and or better and about 15lbs of boost or more and usually you don't run that much boost without a intercooler which this car does not have. Not to mention the car nor idles or sounds anywhere near 1300hp...
I had a custom K&N type 12" filter that wrapped both carbs and had a hand made sheet metal bottom. I was on the dyno with a mild 509 with an 8-71 at 6-8 lbs of boost it was making 750 hp with no air filters just fresh air duct over carbs. I put those two little air filters on and the engine made 670hp the next pull. 80 hp loss just from little air filters. It takes ALOT of air to make 1300 hp!
Damn near wiped out Up the fuel pressure with a badass fuel pump. I'm not sure how much it would need to be regulated. Those dual quads need a shitload of fuel to stay happy
Sorry for your lost bro glad you have the car yet none car people laugh but it's true a car will always miss it's owner when they die bro sorry for your loss
Wild ride!!.....good rule of thumb though......NEVER let off throttle completely when fishtailing.....can cause complete loss of control....still fun to watch though, made my heart jump just watching lol
My dad passed suddenly due to hospital sept 1st 2020 I tear up everyday over a memory. Hope to all that lost someone they love..( I don't pray anymore, after son passed then dad. so I hope for people)
Not assuming anything, but with over 30 years of engine building and dyno experience I can say without a doubt that it is not making 1300 hp . Nice car, though.
You clearly don't know what you're talking about. That's a 10-71 blower with dual double pumper holley's. That engine is more than capable of 1000+hp on race gas. Even my 572ci would choke up on dual double pumpers.. The carbs alone are taking in 1400 cfm minimum..
Yes a bbc with a 871 blower only makes 500hp. That's totally reasonable. Dude 😂 my N/A sbc makes 500hp, a 454 with smog delete and a tune up with make 500 off of cubic inches alone, without dome pistons and a big cam.
219Tucker ....wake up and smell the rubber,son.....easily 1300 hp here...are you aware this chevelle has 32.1 to 14 low compression solid lifters..putting out 1600 rpm of torque through drilled and slotted aluminium intake ports mounted on a fiberglass chassis with 411 spider gears each capable of producing 8.88 megabikes through the average 1/4 mile?.........so please...do your research before you open your little oily mouth.
luke bandt: If you don't have a drilled and slotted intake you'll never make 1300 hp, everybody knows that. Unless you have tapered gaskets with a 3.73:1 gear ratio of course.
ziiofswe As long as the headers are balanced you dont need a slotted intake. And he should be running cross drilled gaskets not tapered. Jeeze any car guy should know that....
1300hp???? LMFAO, I love when someone puts a little 671-871 and or 1071 blower on a V8, BBC or SBC and automatically thinks it has over 100hp, let alone 1300hp!! That car has 600hp at best at the reel wheels. Nice burnout commando!! :0
