Episode 2 of my SOBO thru hike of the Pacific Crest Trail takes me through 70 miles of epic Washington landscape! I make it back to Hart's Pass for my first resupply and to officially start hiking all new trail that I (hopefully) will only have to hike once!
My initial fears start to settle down a little bit, as I start to notice how my body and mind are responding to being on the trail. I set my sights for my next resupply in Stehekin and take you along for the 70 mile and 4 day journey.
I really hope you enjoy joining me on this epic section of the PCT!

Greetings Krysta, from Scotland UK. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us all. I am contemplating hiking either the PCT or Appalachian trail in 2026, and without question, your vlogs are some of the best here on RU-vid ( I am binge watching content at present). Being a single woman hiker myself, I am struck by your optimistic outlook and attitude. What is your secret? LOL Happy future hiking, and I look forward to following your vlogs. Lorraine

So excited for you to get to enjoy one of those hikes!! Thanks for watching my content - much appreciated!! Hmm I think my secret is just that I love hiking SO MUCH!!! It’s my favourite thing to do and I just always feel so grateful and exactly where I’m meant to be when I’m hiking. And I always keep in mind that backpacking includes all spectrums of experience, from really high highs, to really low lows. That helps me remember in the tough moments that they are part of the overall experience.

I’ve been loving your videos and shorts for quite a while now! My backpack choice, for my PCT 2025 thru hike, is the Durston Kakwa 55 as well, which will ship in March! Can’t wait to get it! With researching other packs, your gear review helped with the decision.

What would you do differently now that you’ve done it . What gear would you change and would you get a new tent and sleeping bag ?
@KrystaNorwick
@KrystaNorwick 5 месяцев назад
Good question! I hope to make a video answering these. I wouldn't change my tent, and I did change my sleeping bag for something warmer once I started hiking into fall. There were a few things I learned along the way, like how great the CNOC water bag is when used with the Sawyer Squeeze water filter.

I am inspired by seeing a married person trekking solo. J section is the most I’ve done solo, but plan to do much more solo this summer. How did you make use of the Garmin? Just preset messages or personalized texting too?
@KrystaNorwick
@KrystaNorwick 5 месяцев назад
I'm happy to hear that! I used both preset and personalized messages on the Garmin. I connected it via bluetooth to my smartphone so that I could text more easily and quickly. I usually sent a few messages from my tent every morning and evening, and then a check in around lunch. Sometimes more if I knew Brian was having a difficult day or if I was having a difficult day. We tried to still be there for each other as much as we could, even when apart.

How did you keep everything charged to record for 140 days? Did you use a solar panel?
@briannorwick
@briannorwick 5 месяцев назад
Great question! Krysta was able to recharge her batteries every 5-8 days. She used a portable battery bank (15,600mAh) which allowed her to charge her phone, camera, headlamp and GPS at camp each night. In addition, because she is a video content creator, she carried spare camera batteries.
