We used to do line dances at the big gay discos in Chicago, in the 70’s - 1980 or so........ what a great, and fun time! I had forgotten the exact steps, so thanks for the reminder!!

We used to dance all night until 5 am Sunday morning, when the bars closed, then go to breakfast at the Oak Tree, or the Little Corporal, on Wacker Drive and State St. The big Dance clubs were: the Bistro at Dearborn & Hubbard, Broadway Sams at Clark & Foster, Broadway Limited on Broadway & Barry, Paradise on Broadway & Surf St. LePub at Clark & Armitage, and of course The BBC on Rush St! What a time..... the best!

thank you for NOT calling this "the hustle" as many younger people do....I remember "the hustle" because I"M OLD and the Saturday Night Fever dance was simply that. Great demonstration here! :----)

Hi Peter! In this video Dawn does run through it the second time facing away from the camera, exactly as you suggest! The first time she runs through it facing the camera, but to make it clear and easy for the student, she does it with the opposite foot, so from the student's perspective it's like you're looking in the mirror! Isn't that amazing that Dawn can dance and teach the routine forward and backwards, with both sides?!?! The advantage of this is then the students can see the foot and leg articulation, styling, body, and arm styling!

The best tutorial on this dance and music. You made it easy to whoever is watching because of the orientation which is exactly how the student learns. Other tutorials face students and trying to do the opposite of what the instructor does is very difficult. Always wanted to learn this. Now I got it. Thank you so much.

I know this dance! It combines elements of part the electric slide, jazz dance moves (like the "kick ball change") as well as disco dance moves (for example, "skate" and the so-called disco points), bop/rock and roll dancing (the "Dorothy Chicken") and country line dancing/ballet with the 3-point star and hitch to end this line dance and start your next sequence in the new wall!
