700 SRX Triple 2 Stroke Turbo!!! My Next Sidewinder Project....Will It Work?

well now that we've hit 140mph with my sled (YOMAMA) and The SHOCKER is goin over 150mph....there's really no need to have two sleds setup for radar runs so I wanna do something different with YOMAMA! I've had the idea for a bit and I think nows the time to try it out, so in the off season I'm going to try and build the sled I think Yamaha should have built before they got out of the sled game! I'm going to try and turn my sidewinder into a 700cc 2 stroke triple turbo sled!! it's not going to be easy but if ya wanna be awesome, ya gotta do awesome s#!t 🤪🤣🍻 I hope yas enjoy the video and stay tuned to the channel to see how this project turns out! we really appreciate all the support and subscribers to our channel! cheers 🍻

I love watching Pete. He doesn’t pretend to be something he isn’t, and he is very smart. His content is accurate and what I love is that he takes a fairly simple approach to filmmaking, holds his camera himself and no real studio. Looks like he’s using a microphone now but other than that… Redneck Dirty Hands is probably my favourite channel ATM. C boys would be ok too except they’re a bit too big for my liking however Evan makes it all worthwhile. Pete and Even should team up!

I'm a former mechanic that worked for Hauck powersports in 1997-2001, I don't mess with sleds anymore but love your videos, I can't wait to see and hear this sled when its done

Probably alot of Yamaha guy's would pay this guy 20 grand to do exactly this to a Winder if it holds up. That tripple is one of the most reliable sled motor ever built so technically it should hold up

I have a grey/yellow Sidewinder like that, but it’s a 137 XTX. It also has a Maptun stage 3 kit with 260 hp. A beast on the trails. Cheers from Sweden. 😊🍻

You probably will not get very much boost because it is a 2 stroke the ports are open at the same time. How ever I look forward to see this thing. 😃

I'm excited for you and me as well on this project. The tripples are near to my heart. I'm an old fart, got out of sledding in the late 80's with a fan 340 TNT as the sled I retired. I got back into sledding in early 2000'snds buying a Cat 600 Tripple. Loved that sled, have owned another one since and is nothing like them. Still sledding now and ride a "tuned" 4 stroke Doo. Like the way that one runs also. Keep up the great work so I have something to watch here on the tube! Nice one Pete!

Hey Pete, great build! I am going to keep my eye on this one. Since the 4 stroke Vipers came out I wanted to put a srx7 in it, there should have been a tripple 2 stroke in it from the factory. A SX Viper exhaust manifold and pipe should be able to be cut & bent in there. The single pipe will lose some hp on the NA motor but that exhaust spinner will more than make up for any hp loss. Good Luck with the build, who knows you might be making quite a few down the road!

The look on your face when you said these throttle bodies are the toughest part of the project and then paused and mentioned the unbuilt exhaust... I must add, I agree 100% that this is what Yamaha should of done for their last year or any year really. 2025 release was just another disappointment and crappy way to go out with the same exact sled they've had for several years. Yamaha hire this guy

for your next project,i would put a apex engine in a sidewinder.the motor should bolt right in.sweet sound of a 4 cylinder and turbo.:)

When you get the motor fitted, if those pipes won’t fit, contact Greg at jaws. He’s got one of the best pipe builders I’ve ever seen. I’m sure he can fix you up with triple pipes with a turbo provision

Back in 2001 I ran a mm700 and another guy I was riding with once had a mm700 turbo on av gas running 7psi. It would keep up to a modded thunder cat back In those days. He said it took a few sets of pistons to figure it out

Yeah I’m totally into this!! You should get in touch with a Yamaha Rep they might be able to help. I’m in Alaska one we got loves to throw Turbos at everything. We had a 97 twin 600 turbo Yamaha it was wicked! Until the owner cheaped out on good gas!! Motor went straight to a box and still there to this day. 😢😢😢

I love this because I would never do it LOL This has the potential so save so much combined weight between the heavy old school SRX chassis/suspension to the new Cat platform which is really well thought out for weight savings, on top of the 50lbs of less motor weight. No way to get triple pipes in there but the "W" pipe I think will work just fine with a turbski! My next project will be the opposite, apex engine in a lightweight 2 stroke sled chassis LOL You do you and I'll do me and we'll meet up and drink some barley pops and make yomama jokes all night LOL

I was thinking of doing the same thing years back, with a 2015 viper and throwing the 700 triple single pipe viper engine in it, non turbo (still carbed) with the 800 big bore kit in it.. into the 2015 viper chassis.. and utilizing the 800 arctic cat muffler for it.. then designing a custom air box configuration, I doubt the cat 800 air box placement would work cuz it having the intake and exhaust on the same side of the engine. But that dream never came true cuz I didn’t wanna throw the money at it. This is cool that your going to try somthing like that plus fuel injection plus keeping the turbo
