Back at it with Myer's Dad's Truck. This time we are trying out some Dynomite Diesel Products Stage 3 injectors! We picked up HP and Torque and reduced smoke!
Lenny is doing these injectors for VP guys as well. It’s fantastic someone is commited to pushing the envelope on the old mechanical engines. The interest level in these old trucks is very high and will be for years to come. Thank you for the excellent video.
Lenny first started this idea on the cr motors running five pilot holes and five main holes making the 10 hole injector. I was hoping to see him apply what he had done for the cr crowd to the older mechanical crowd. So super excited to see it coming to the old school guys. I may be completely off but to my knowledge vw was the first to do this in two different ways back on the early their early diesel motors. I came across this when I was in the Mercedes diesel performance phase looking for more power and one of the things a few had done was to adapt the vw injectors to fit the inline five motors as a affordable compromise vs doing custom one off injectors. So it is a proven concept that the oem’s have used and I believe died off with the advent of high pressure diesel injection in a oem world. Brought back slightly with double firing cr injectors. Pilot and main. And is now full circle by using pilot offices paired with a main injection office. Super excited for what’s to come and awesome video. @@horsetorquesdiesel not even. Your the one making all the hp, building your own motors and transmissions, I just get to read papers and watch you light that candle. I remember all your tips, tricks, and helpful knowledge you give out to the best of my ability and apply it when I can to help others as well as our own competitive program we are working on.
Which injector size did you go with? what tuning and turbo? Thanks. I have a 2006 as well that puts out black smoke no matter which tune im running. My truck has 167000 miles with a fleece cheeta turbo, banks intercooler and intake horn, and steed speed manifold.
I have a 96 with a tater built 63mm on top and a s475 with a set of 7x11 injectors 024dv no fuel plate tune afc 4k gov springs and 18 degrees of timing and ppd lift pump. It smokes very little highest egt I seen is 1100 most boost I seen was 70psi. I always wanted to dyno it. I would like to try them 10 holes when they come out.
Think the he 351 turbine is choking the setup check out time at 9:50 glowing red To much restriction But for a tow rig at elevation great little setup Nice work Myers 👌
Meh, I'm not disagreeing that a larger turbine housing would help, however I would attribute a good bit of that to the lower timing and fuel being injected so late into the cylinder. The next big mod will be to play with the pump and get the injection duration down.
Hey guys, I know it's a while since this video came out, but you mentioned a "low stall" torque converter in the previous build video...what RPM stall did you choose for this rig? Great infos :) and keep 'em Cummin 😆
Just ordered a 62mm hx and 472sxe from pdd for my 95 12v. How much would Meyer charge for sending me that piping setup cuz I'm lazy 🤔🤔💪💪 lol but seriously, how much?
Never running DDP again ran 150 over stock for a year then injectors went bad. Nothing solid about them. Paid nearly 800 dollars, when I can get same quality for cheaper. Nothing special about DDP Injectors your just buying the brand that's all.
No, as these 10 holes are still in testing as well as PDD makes a great quality product that has already proven itself. Im sure if the 10 holes work out they will be developing some as well.
The DDP are 40% more coin so will still be a lot of people going the budget route. Now I am curious how much of that power gain came from the injectors and how much from the egt drop not driving the chargers as hard and making cooler intake temps plus less drive pressure. Might could have opened the gates up on the original setup an seen the same gains. I know on my 1st gen it made 30more hp with 70psi from the twins rather than 90psi.
