I remember when you put these videos out back in your old channel when you still lived in Ohio. I learned to weld watching you and jody. Went got aws D1.1 certified then decided to switch to cranes some years later. Pays a little more for me, but I weld all the time and have an entire weld shop. I’m defiantly a sucker for some quality tools. However just wanted to say thanks for all these lance, your videos helped me tremendously 🤘🏼

I do lots of small welds, so I like the easy restarts of 7014. The slag can get in the way, but it seems easier to use than 6013. It can be used with AC and DC. Folks have such wildly different opinons about the different electrodes, I think you have to just try it snd see for yourself. If there's a stick that you think is impossible to use, you will find someone out there who uses it with ease. There's one trick I saw in a video that I wanted to pass on. If you use a small drag angle (nearly vertical) you can get an almost flat bead like 6011/10 (but less penetration). If you have a big drag angle (45deg), you get a high, built-up bead like 6013. So you have some options. The penetration is moderate, not shallow like 6013,.or deep like 6011/10. I think its worth trying, you can always just get a one pound box.

Chucky you are a beast. Were you been man. You got me through welding school. Now I got my own little boot leg channel. I'm not good with the go pro yet, but once I figure it out I'm going to be the man. Thanks Chuck good to see you again.

6013 & 7014 do best when you run them HOT! Less problems with wormholes and slag inclusions that way.

I watched your old channel from back in the Ohio garage days. I use a lot of 7014 I like it and holds just about anything.

7014 works just fine for flats and down hill on thick to thin (I’m a welder, exterior door frames to structural on down hill or equal). 7018 doesn’t lie while welding. 7014 can deceive if you’re not experienced with it. Prefer hard wire with shield gas…

I used 7014 when I first started to weld. They are considered a drag rod. They are a little bit more for giving. When it comes to to striking a arc. I quickly moved on. Never saw the need to purchase any more. Although they seem to do fine

Except for the worm holes, those beads looked really good to me. Nice and even.

I find that it runs best at 130 !!! But if you run it hot enough the scail will follow the stick and lift it way right off !!! And the book says it has the same tinsel strength as 7018 !!!! I have run everything chuck mentioned including others but 7014 is my favorite!! But I have run hundreds of pounds of it !!

I've never had slag inclusion issues with 7014, only 6013.

I prefer AC over DC positive because you don’t get arc blow I run 1/8 7014 at 130 amps on AC and 125 on DC

Good job. I'm new to welding. I'm using 7014 3/32. Maybe I'll step down to 5/64s and also try some 6013 too. Cheers!

With the right welder, it can weld like a 7024 or gas shielded fluxed-core.

Quick and dirty..7014 is the 70 series equivalent of 6013

I guess you'd call me a rod burner, not a welder. I've never had any kind of training. The 7014 rods are easy but I always seem to have a few slag inclusions no matter how hard I try. 7018 seems to work best for me............. (still waiting for the 7018 rods with the no-stick, teflon tip though) 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 No luck at all with the 60 series rods. 😢😢 Cheers !

7016 and 7018 AC are far superior. Those two electrodes will give you nigh unbreakable beads. 7018 beads can break, but that's if you restart too much or if you get arc blow. 7018 AC FTW!

Long time no see MBiC ; I couldn't tell you how long it's been since I saw 7014 available anywhere but the welding supply house. 7018 ac seems to have stolen the show. I welded a wood furnace together with 7014 maybe 25 years ago - it's funny what you'll put up with when you don't have anything better.

Here in Canada the Lincoln fleetweld 47 (7014) are available at Canadian tire and Princess auto, which is kinda like our version of harbour freight, has Hobart 7014 so they’re pretty widely available up here.

7014 is easy strike and easy to weld but I cannot get a decent weld with them. Too many voids and slag inclusions. 7018 works a lot better for me but they're a bit harder to get started.

Too much amps Try thiner rod at the minimum amperage required and increase amps gradually If you’re using 1/8 electrodes, try 3/32
@rickylee2477
@rickylee2477 10 месяцев назад
Burn through doesn’t necessarily mean your amps are to high. Burning through is more often than not the result of too slow travel speed
