The bottom of the Sparrow's sales page states: "We wish to thank the 'lock picking lawyer' for his guidance in developing this set of dimple picks. Classy and professional." I think that this says it all.
"The best dimple pick set on the market right now." Straight up powerful words from the Law in the lockpick world. They should be proud of that. And that's a steal for a specialty item.
Can you do a video where you unlock some transparent locks? It would be really interesting to see what you are doing inside. I am a complete novice in the field so I can appreciate it may not be so interesting to other viewers however it's something I would really like to see.
This seems like an ultra win for sparrows, they have to love everything you've done for lockpicking as a hobby. Not only have you increased interest in it but you also give them advice and feedback to help them make better tools then you also advertise them without asking for any kind of compensation. You undoubtedly have a lot of respect from the guys at sparrows! Now hopefully they will get that disk detainer pick that you and Bosnian bill made on the market soon so I can give my girlfriend a Christmas present idea for me (since she always complains that I'm so difficult to shop for). Once I've spent a little more time with standard pin tumbler locks I'm likely going to purchase this set and start learning how to pick some dimple locks. Looking forward to expanding my newfound hobby!
I am beyond excited about this set! So much so, I ordered one 2 days ago lol Thank you both, LPL and Sparrows, for working together to put out a viable and cost effective kit. I have purposefully avoided simple locks because quality picks aren't easy or cheap to come by.
Never picked a dimple lock in my life, but just ordered a set of these. Can't wait to try em out! Thanks LPL for all the awesome content. Keep on pickin!
I can’t imagine who much you and Bosnian Bill have improved sales at Sparrows and other sites, between the increased interest generated and the product development you’ve both been involved in I think you guys deserve some sort of acknowledgment for all you’ve contributed to the hobby. I certainly enjoy your videos and you both make it look so easy and of course it’s not. It’s like golf you can have a lousy round but if you hit one perfect shot, one really long drive that’s what keeps you coming back and once you pick your first lock?
I've been excited about this one! I always thought sparrows would make a good dimple pick set, because I've seen their bypass drivers and thought, if they can do that, they could make some pretty nice dimple picks. Thanks for the Review buddy!
Wow bro!!! I saw it on the sparrows site... bro these are beautiful!! You - lockpicking lawyer have successfully blended a science with art, these tools transcend the word “tool” and look majestic. I can’t wait to get a set of my own!! I even love the “reveal” where the second set of pics are below the first! I’m sure @locknoob feels the same way. Anyone who appreciates art will appreciate these pics!!!
Just ordered it. Should be here in a few days. Sparrows is very fast when it comes to shipping over the pond. Got myself a couple of brand spanking new Abus, bought fresh, directly from the factory. Ahh, the joy of new locks . . I can hardly wait . . Btw, watching you pick is a real delight. So calm and seemingly effortlessly You are surely giving Bill a run for his money lately.
Anytime you break through a lock on this channel I think it would be helpful to recommend a same version variant that is better / more resistant to lock picking. That would be great for us viewers in getting more secure locks and would help your channel in referral link kickbacks. Love you channel!
Just bought it along with the Sparrows Night School set! I can finally give back the (super cheapo) pick set I borrowed from a friend... he's gonna be jealous Absolutely love this channel!
@@DenkyManner meh i somewhat agree why should mispronouncing something even matter words are neither good nor bad simply a tool used to convey meaning along with tone and in person expressions and other factors as long as the what is being conveyed is neither hateful nor does it insight violence why should we worry about the words we choose to use the only real power a word has to harm is the power you give it yourself we have lost track of the meaning behind words due to the SJW culture where you can be hateful while not being hateful
Really great to see Sparrows is listening to the community. I would like to think other companies do so to some extent but Sparrows seems to be at the top of the list with contributors like LPL and Lock Noob. Nicely done.
Great job Harry, excelent selection of dimple picks and great selection of basic characteristics on them. The price of the kit is awesome too. Thanks for your work ;o))
Jeff K I bought a black flag set about a month back and mine too had a few that were bent right out of the box. I just bent them back straight and they've been just fine so far. I don't think, that for 40 bucks it's much to worry about. You're really getting alot for that 40 smackers!
I've noticed Sparrows has always been extremely open to suggestions and really flexible when it comes to ordering stuff. They have their ssdev set of picks and I pretty much never use anything but the short hook from that set with its slight back-curve. Of course I ended up breaking it and when I got a new set they had no problem just giving me 3 of the short hook. They also at least listened to my suggestion for an even more back-curved pick. One think I don't know (maybe you do) is how their heat treatment works. For things like their prototype set, presumably you're going to have to be grinding thin pieces of metal quite a bit. Do you think the metal on the ground (aka "important") area is going to lose its temper? Amateur tempering isn't terribly hard, but annealing is hard to get right.
Nice. Just what I have been looking for to get into picking dimple locks! I couldn't make myself buy a Chinese set because of quality. Spooxe was too expensive
Man I was shopping for a good set at the moment, glad they just came out and that you help in the design, just went and purchased them. Now you need to help them design a great disk detainer pick!!! :)
Agree! I have a couple of the cheap Chinese ones, top and bottom tension but would like a more high quality one like the ones that LPL has made or had machined for him.
Im really happy about this. It was expensive learning curve trying to learn dimple picking with souber or spooxe picks. They damage so easy, it kinda turns you off the picking. Who wants to pay 100+ bux for pick set several times while you learn. Or worse trying to modify the cheap crap when you not even sure whats happening at first. About time...
Thank God, I Been searching high and low for a good set of dimple picks. I believe we have a winner. Sparrows are my favorite picks and I ordered a set right away. Thank you LPL for helping make this happen.
Great job LPL as always you are a credit to lock picking and a boon to us learners with great info and your ability to enhance a companies way of making great products well done keep up the good work. :)
I just got my set in. Do you have any recommendations on beginner dimple locks to start with? Doing searches for dimple locks on amazon and ebay aren't really giving me good results. Also did you find any of your new picks slightly bent out of the box? I got one or two that aren't quite in line with the handle. I'll reach out to Sparrows, but I was wondering if it is just me or a possible quality control hiccup.
Pretty new fan here with a question. I tried to look if you have picked Abloy locks but I could not find any videos from you about them. Did see one attacked with ramset gun though. Anyway if you do have videos about them especially the Classic, Exec and the Protec models I would be very interested to see them as those are what I use personally. (abloy basically makes all the locks here in Finland) If you don't have videos about them I shall have to wait until you get your hands on some of those locks :D
O M G Thank you so much for your efforts on helping Sparrows with that. Dimple picks have always been SO frustrating. I will order a set immediately. I really often felt the temptation to just write some manufacturers about what I think of their tools and how to improve them (Sparrows, Peterson, Southord and chinese manufacturers) because they really often have some in my opinion completely useless or misshaped picks and I have yet to see a pick set that is somewhot complete in my opinion. One question though: How do they compare to the Souber dimple picks?
I just clicked the link and it worked! Although they are just a bit out of my price range. The site has them listed at $100,000.00. Yes it s really saues one hundred thousand dollars. It does not mention if you get free shipping at that price. 🤯
Heh, I just went to their site and the price now shows as $100,000! The explanation is in the fine print at the bottom of the page, where it states the product is being updated for release in early 2022.
i just bought these and they came today, not properly tested these yet but i thought where were going to be solid ? they do bend alot to be fair, i thought they would be a little stronger no they do have alot of flex in them ?
@lockpickinglawyer can we please have an update on these picks? I haven’t seen any other videos where you’re using them, have I simply missed them or has something happened? I know they’re out of stock and I have seen mixed reviews but only from comments people have made and honestly it just sounds like people are trying to use them as prybars instead of picks. I’ve ordered a secondhand set from someone in the US (I’m in Aus) and I’d really like to see more on these picks outside of initial thoughts
You stated that it is unusual to be able to use a set of dimple picks straight out of the box. What would you normally need to do to make them usable? I'm assuming rounding off the shaft, and making the flag smaller?
Looking to buy a lock pick set. What's the difference between dimple locks and standard pin tumbler locks? I want to be able to open the dead bolt on my front door. I'm at beginner level and like the idea of these picks with round shaft. Can you use these picks to open pin tumbler locks?
I realize this is 3 years old. I did scan the comments and didn't see this question. With most of these dimple locks (I have a disk type), you use a rake either single or dbl sided. This dimple specific set doesn't have any rakes at all in it. Is there a set of rakes you buy to go with it?
wertercatt there is. I think I got one in a cheap Chinese pick kit once. But tbh they can be opened with a limp piece of celery as the tolerances are so poor. Have a hunt around for some cheap thumbturn ones, I picked up some for a few pounds each, again the tolerances weren’t great but better than the plastic locks. If you are dead set on a plastic one I found this from goso so they should be available from the Chinese resellers too. gosolockpicks.com/product/transparent-7-pin-dimple-practice-lock
Hey Lpl, i have a lock you cant pick! its in a 6 ft by 6ft concrete and rebar block inside a steel safe drifting to the bottom of the pacific ocean as we speak. Good luck!
