Hi! I don't think that is a feature they put in because it's meant to over-write itself when full, so it keep a constant set of hours (depending on capacity, and how much manual recording you chose). Basically, it will never stop recording. The techie in me does want it shown but its no in there. I'll ask if they can put it in for a new update.
Hey Mike over been looking into getting this to replace my nexar beam 1080p dashcam since is has better image quality. I had an incident where I recorded an issue but couldn't see the plate number. I was curious how recovering footage is on this unit. Does the app store recordings of is it just playback? Can you save recordings from the app?
The app allows you to view live, replay footage, and save footage directly to your phone for sharing or archiving. Also when you plug it directly to your computer, all the footage is nicely organized into folders for easy access to the type of footage that you want. ie, Normal, Parked, Timelapse, Photos. They really thought it through and I appreciate that. I suppose I should have mentioned this more and made it more clear. Thanks for the questions.
@@MikeMu thanks for the reply. Do you need to be connected to the camera to view and save footage or does it use the phones storage to save videos too?
@@MegaSn0wb0ardJunkie App connected to the camera to view and save footage; via wifi. I know this is a departure from what Nexar might be doing, but they'd be the exception. If the camera detects an incident, it locks the portion down in a special folder that does not get over-written automatically. Best is to connect to a computer to download just like you would a flash drive. But you can also download it via wifi to your phone, thereby using your phone storage for the footage.
@@MikeMu OK so this is similar to the Garmin dash cams. Not terrible but the video quality looks much better. So one example of what I want to accomplish is being able to record an incident on the fly. If someone cuts in front of me how can I save the last minute or two of footage?
@@MegaSn0wb0ardJunkie You can literally just say: record video. And it works! If you forget, you can just tap the dash cam hard enough and it will record it as an incident and save it separately. However, keep in mind its always recording so as long as you remember to check the footage later you can download it. But yeah, telling it to 'record video' out loud will put it in a special folder that does not get over-written.
That's a fantastic review mate. I bought the 64gb one. I just want to know that if I am going on a 10hr road trip, how many hours will it record continuously before it rewrites itself?
Do you use a hardwire kit and turn on the parking mode? I use that feature and turns out that the cam has a temperature all the time when parked. I just want to know whether it’s normal?, like does yours running some temp too?
@@MikeMu I live in Thailand, there’s no winter here lol. It’s not like overheating anyway, it just running up some temp. So it might be normal, i guess.
It has to be plugged in. No lithium ion battery, it will shut down if not plugged in after a few seconds. If you wire it to the car battery it will do parking mode as well.
They're very different as you can tell. If you are just using it for the front windshield, don't value cloud upload, aren't doing multicam, want some of the 'smart' functionality this is better. The features I want are more in alignment with the Mini 2 as I have several capturing all angle of the car. Front dashcam though, I have the U1000 amzn.to/3h5OiFL. I use the 70mai on a secondary car for front windshield and appreciate the capabilities it has that are not available on the mini 2. Still on the main car I have a *lot* going on with the self driving module taking a good part of the windshield, so I would otherwise prefer the mini 2 in that case since its so small and discreet.
okay, but in terms of resolution? which is better? i’m looking for a good quality resolution. in 70mai you need to find a good spot to center the view? while garmin you can adjust it thru apps?
@@lloydd7202 70mai is better resolution and low light performance. Difference not by a whole lot. To use the advanced features you want it as close to the rear view mirror. If you don't care as much for those features it won't matter as much. Both models you make adjustments in the app.
Hi Paul, I haven’t tried that one. But if I had to only pick one from 70mai and wanted interior as well, it’s an easy choice. I’d for sure get the one you mentioned. It’s a much bigger profile on your windshield though.
