hope you are well 70 s horror what a decade for horror not as strong as the 80 s but still strong I'm open to recommendations as I have not seen or own every 70 s horror movie cheers for watching like comment subscribe 👍🏻🤪 #70s
So glad to see you’ve included MAGIC with Anthony Hopkins…so few people like this movie when it came out, and my teenage self was riveted by the atmosphere, the creepy puppet, and Sir Anthony’s performance.
Great list, I've actually seen all but maybe five of these. One that I'd like to see in there that I never hear anybody talk about is The Changeling with George C. Scott. Oh yeah, and Burnt Offerings. Edit: I had to go check and it turns out that the changeling came out in 1980. Good movie, though.
Fantastic list Stuart and i own most of these films, I have the Wicker man but like you i find it just ok, Don't like Don't look now so have never bothered with that one. A couple of others i like are The Car 1977, Deathline 72, Phantasm 79, Thanks mate.
I so love Death Line too and also films like Beast in the Cellar (1971) or Psychomania (1972), there's just something about this very early '70s UK horror era that is mainly set in then modern times, which sadly means I'm not that keen on '70s period Hammer like Hands of the Ripper or Vampire Circus I do rate those at the Hammer bottom.
"The Wicker Man" happens to be the only musical dark comedy horror hybrid I know of that also functions as masterful commentary on the concept of religion and a deep dive into Christianity. There's truly nothing else like it.
@@TheGosportProfessionals The entire conversation between Summerisle and the cop, the uptight and rigid Christianity of the cop, the praying at the end from the cop, the explanation for how people turned from Christianity to enjoy their old pagan gods, etc.
Hi I wish the legend of the werewolf and the ghoul would come out on blu ray or dvd both starring peter cushing they have not even come out on dvd just vhs don't know why sad that 2 great films
@@kingdio just checked them out mate yeah even the dvd goes for daft money, hopefully this year someone picks them up and we get them on Blu-ray 💿👈🏻👍🏻🎥 c Cheers mate thanks for watching and the feedback
Like 17 of your 30, but love The Wicker Man and Don’t Look Now. In my own personal opinion the best horror film ever made is the 1920 The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari.
@@paulfillingham2958 yes I have heard of this film I don't own it , and of course it's not in this list as it's 70 s horror, cheers for the recommendation 👌🏻👈🏻👌🏻
@@stuartgeorge2324 I thought I’d mention it because there are lots of early black & white and silent movies that most people don’t know about and would dismiss out of hand. Most have heard of Murneau’s original Nosferatu but how many have seen it? Murneau and Fritz Lang are two filmmakers who deserve to be looked at. Two of the greatest ever directors.
Excellent list Stuart, I keep telling people I’m not a horror fan but I have watched most of these and enjoyed them, so maybe I’m more of a fan than I first thought 🤣 take care mate👍😃👍
Great stuff as usual my friend. There’s quite a few that you have that I do not however there’s some that I have that you don’t. A couple of great 70s jaws rip offs that I would recommend are grizzly, orca, and the car.👍
great list mate own all but two of them myself how about these. Blood on Satan's claw 71, Horror express 72, Legend of hell house 73 Black Christmas 74, Zombie flesh eaters 79 and Nosferatu 79
Can’t argue with any of these, mate. Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde is an underrated one from Hammer. Magic is awesome. The Exorcist = greatest horror movie ever. I remember seeing Asylum as a kid late at night and it’s been one of my favourites ever since. I have to agree with you on Don’t Look Now - never understood that movie at all. I would recommend The Incredible Melting Man which is a guilty pleasure of mine.
Love jaws 2 myself mate trilogy of terror is that Karen black with the little monster with sharp teeth yes I remember that I don't own it tbh mate cheers for watching 👍🏻
The thing about Don't Look Now - the beginning and ending are incredible. Julie Christie, Donald Sutherland, the music, the editing (the sex scene, of course!) - all great. But all that guff in the middle with him seeing his wife in Venice when she's supposed to be back home... Roeg always comes unstuck with plot. Still love it, though! And the Wicker Man 😀 Otherwise great choices.
Yeah never resonated with me the wicker man seen It maybe 4 times over the years still think at end mmm it's ok 😄 as a first watch of don't look now I just thought I would like it more than I did mate , cheers for watching 👍🏻
The Whicker Man I guess is a marmite one. I love it and scared me as a kid and and gives me chills as an adult😂😂😂I would avoid midsommar if you didn't get on with it. Again loved that one too.
@@sparkstron73 mate I have seen the wicker man 5 times over the years watched it last year and it still not happening with me , i will keep it though I don't hate it but man I just dont dig it man
I say as Christopher Lee that things that couldn’t happen irl and is a bit weird and things we don’t understand really should be called Fantasy more than Horror 😄
