I just bought a Berliner re-creation that was built in Japan in the ‘70s. It appears to be complete and in operating condition. The quality seems good except for a few details on the motor that concerns me. The motor is noisy and the fiber gear looks fine. The governor fork is made from aluminum which concerns me. Any tips you could give me on this machine in general? Some say it was a commemorative piece that was built for the purpose of an anniversary. Some call it a forgery, although nefarious intent isn’t evident. Thanks!
There was an excellent copy of a Berliner that was built in Japan in the 1970s and they are actually quite desirable. Berliners are not quiet machines. I have two originals and they are very noisy..
@@1974hurt Thanks for your response! I’m glad I purchased this from a recent auction at a fraction of what crazy money is being spent on the originals. One just sold for $7K on eBay! Not that enjoyable to own considering the sound quality and the rarity of Berliner records. Always enjoy your videos!
