Jodie Comer won over Viola Davis and Emilia Clarke, two of the most recognizable names in the tv industry right now. If that doesnt say something about talent I don’t know what does. I am ecstatic.
Emilia clarke? Are u fucking kidding? She is sweet, but her acting is nothing like UAAAU. She didn't deserved an emmy, not even a nomination. Lena was the best actress in the cast
A rightfully deserved win, Killing Eve is unthinkable without Villanelle. And her ability to speak so effortlessly in multiple accents is spellbinding omg.
@@KayliePrice Her parents must be proud. They seem to have raised her very well, no wonder she is still so close to them. So nice when actors I admire turn out to be wonderful people, too.
It's obvious that Sandra is genuinely happy for Jodie. She is also likely very proud off Jodie given Jodie's relatively young age. She's receiving recognition for playing a complex and layered character which is harder than she makes it look.
The Sandra and Phoebe reactions were amazing but I also loved how excited Fiona Shaw got right behind her. All of their excitement was so genuine. It was beautiful to watch.
i enjoy when they are nominated with their co-stars, you can tell the ones that are genuinely happy for them, no competition, no work mate envy just pure joy
You're talking like the role itself didn't have anything to do with it. Villanelle is by default a more interesting character and therefore easier to play and make appealing to people. Eve is not as interesting yet Sandra managed to breathe so much personality into her. I'm not saying Jodie isn't a great actress, she deserves the Emmy, but I don't think she'd shine nearly as much if she played a role like Sandra's so don't make those comparisons.
Mateja Savic I think it is very possible to hit off the mark when portraying a psychopath, and Jodie does this with such simultaneous delicacy and vigor and that’s what makes her performance in another league.
@@jazzx251 It's not "so-called"; she's from Liverpool. And her accent cannot remotely be heard when she's acting. Clearly the people who matter disagree with your assessment.
What's amazing is that she never sounds anything like her real voice at any moment in any character she plays in Killing Eve. A truly dynamic actress with incredible range and skill.
this episode is amazing, it’s one of my favorites from season 3. Jodie deserves another emmy, because she totally nailed in the scenes from this episode
Her role as Villanelle is one of the best characters I've ever seen in a TV series. She's filled with talent and I really hope she gets some big movies to show that talent. Love her.
Shana Clarke ...... Deep down inside we all get a special satisfaction in seeing the person who actually deserves the award win it instead of the person with the biggest name ...... she is without a doubt the best actress anywhere around these days..... I got emotional too ..... just seeing her genuine surprise when her name was called.
Seeing Jodie win made me just as happy as when Tatiana Maslany won for Orphan Black! Women portraying multiple characters, and although I still wanted Oh to win, I was just shocked with Jodie's performance in season 2
Same. Tatiana deserved at least two Emmys minimum and a golden globe for her role. Her and Jodie are my performers of the decade with Elizabeth moss coming third.
Everything about this is so beautiful. Pheobe applauding her (PWB owned the night tbh), Sandra supporting Jodie, and the song in the background! If you have watched Killing Eve you'd know😂
YESSSS! Watching the show for the first time and seeing this actress for the first time I was blown away by her work in Killing Eve. I said, she must have definitely gotten bunch of awards including Emmy. And damn I'm happy she actually has. I mean how could she not!! All those nomenees are great, yes, but Jodie Comer did extremely phenomenal job. Incredible acting. She nailed her role so perfect, that im gonna have a hard time to imagine her in any other role or image. I don't think it's easy to get over a Villanelle like her. OMG what a crush. Give her a dozen Emmies. Worth it. Goodness, can't wait to see some of her other works. I'm speechless, just wow.
@@NevxrBackDown I am referring in the context of acting talent from current series in relation to the award received. Beyond that is just personal taste according to story preferences. The 3 main female actress and kostantine, they all make an incredible job.
You can take the girl out of Liverpool but you can't take Liverpool out of the girl. Young, humble, honest, down to Earth and immensely talented. What more is needed? By the way, there is another Liverpool girl, who has the same qualities, Katarina Johnson-Thompson, double World Champion in the heptathlon. Jodie and Katrina went to school together and have been friends since they were teenagers.
I love the thought that so many in the audience probably didn't know what Jodie's native accent was until she spoke and it just convinced them even further of how deserving she was of that award, she's bloody incredible!
She’s so humble and with an endearing and lovely personality to boot. That’s like the icing on the cake that is her overwhelming talent. The most well-deserved win of this year’s Emmys hands down.
the fact that jodie’s so sweet and doesn’t even know how much everyone loves her is ironic compared to villanelle’s character🥺honestly seems like one of the most genuine people
Fiona, Sandra and Phoebe's reactions are so genuine and Jodie is so shocked. This video is great. Villanelle is one of the best characters in recent tv memory thanks to Jodie. She absolutely deserved this.
the material she had to work with was exquisitely written but it could not have been played better by anyone. she truly terrifies you to your core, while delighting you so much you can’t help but love her. jodie as villanelle is probably one of the most incredible performances i’ve ever seen in any film or tv show. period.
I've known Jodie Comer from My Mad Fat Diary, and I was so shook to see her as Villanelle. I was so amazed at how she has incredibly grown as an actress. I didn't know she was THIS good. She was also a good actress in MMFD, and was a very complicated character. I'm so happy for her, the amount of depth and dimension she put in Villanelle, I can never imagine any actress than Jodie Comer doing Villanelle.
I thought Jodie wasn't such a 'big' actress Hollywood wouldn't know her but then so proud to hear the cheering audience it seems many have watched Killing Eve and loved her acting
Dont mind me. I m here after " are you from pinner?" just to prepare myself for next year's win for Jodie. I booked a seat already and i m gonna sit and wait til she walks up that stage again and "tiptoe through the tulips" play in the background and the clip of her in the train plays at the screen. EDIT: Someone call Jodie's parents and invite them this time.
@@dysphoria8637 the train scene along with the whole "i didnt mind..." Scene were brilliant. I swear they ll play one of them on that big ass screen and jodie will receive her well deserved award. Thank youuuu
I just started watching Killing Eve, and OMG, she is such an amazing actress. Every moment you see her on screen, she has such a creepy presence that makes you fear her or what she'll do next. I love the show because of her and Sandra! Well deserved! Did I say she's AMAZING? 😊😍😂
She seems genuinely happy/touched, emotional at heart without making a wreck of things, without coming to ruins. Seems the best type of awards acceptance speeches have those aspects. Seems a sweet moment.
I love how all these women have these really intense scenes as their lead-in clip and then when the camera pans to them they are the most smiley lovely women imaginable
So glad I watched the 71st Emmy’s cause then I probably wouldn’t have known who Jodie Comer was😭Now I’m like the BIGGEST fan of her and Killing Eve✨incredible actress
Do you think Sandra had a moment at some point where she basically went "I can forget any award for leading actress in a drama for the entirety of Killing Eve, because if I'm nominated Jodie will also be nominated"? Because let's face it - Sandra is incredible, but no one can beat Jodie. The accent skill alone is award worthy.
@@Ichiko980 TBH I don't think either of them will get it again. Cause new dramas and new actress will emerge and they'll be more likely to give the award to new people.
IDK, Julia Louis Dreyfuss win over and over again for Veep, so it can happen. Plus I don’t see KE going longer than five seasons (just a guess), so I think the Academy would recognize that too and reward Comer or Oh if it were deserved and not be political about it.
Jodie was brilliant in white princess but outstandingly brilliant in killing eve. Same way Sandra was brilliant in killing eve but outstandingly brilliant in greys... Also Emilia n others were just not in that league even tho they r also great actresses. Jodie rightly deserved this award.
only just started watching the 1st season and after the first couple of episodes i thought to myself why on earth have i not watched this earlier ?!!!!!! Jodie Comer is an amazing actress!!!
The fact that Jodie won against Sandra but her face and reaction when she won was priceless, defiantly shows how true their friendship is, how Jodie walked up to her before going up on stage 🥺
I’ve watched this like a thousand times. Hahaha. And I will not get enough of seeing Jodie win a much deserving award!! Cannot wait for Killing Eve season 3 because of Villanelle!
THE WHOLE CAST OF THE KILLING EVE DESERVES A EMMY THAT WHOLE CAST IS BRILLIANT, AMAZING SHOW STOPPING INCREDIBLE NEVER THE SAME EVERYTHING 👏 PERIOOOODDT!
