I love this build. I love how it does what it needs to in order to add the power and performance, but not looking like a gawdy mess. It looks reeally clean. I like that.

FINALLY! Did every subaru BUT the classic GC/GM/GF chassis!!! Been waiting for this for a long long time!!

the gc8/gm6 chassis is by far the pinnacle of subaru design. I love my JDM MY95 WRX, with chassis stiffening braces, suspension upgrades and a few bolt ons its an absolute blast, i can't imagine what it'll be like when i take it down the route this one has taken. Loved the video as always, David; even more so when its a subaru!

Hey it was awesome to see you hanging out and reviewing Mike's cars that was an awesome collaboration. I am not sure if Car Content people realize this, but when fans see car content people team up every once in a while they really like it. It's like when you read comic books and 2 heroes or hero teams team up fans tend to like those issues a lot. So for other Car Content people who might watch this channel take note of what I just said. Now I am hoping that all car content people get a long but I am not naive that there might be some friction(I honestly hope not b/c everyone I sub to, seems to be doing well). I gotta go take my cat to the Vet but I will give you a review of this vid after I get back and watch it without getting ready aka trying to get my cat in a carrying case and if you have ever had to do that, you know it's an "Adventure". Hey are you in Iowa at the 1/8th Mike Track? Oh awesome I used to take my modified Jetta GLX III. Yeah 1320 is from there and take a deeper look into Omaha and surrounding areas car scene and you will be surprised by amazing cars/trucks that come from there. I mean Trucks like Parish. You are in my old stomping grounds. I hope you liked the area, it's a bit flat and kind of laid back but not too bad of a place to visit. In that car scene when I was in it, there were so many amazing and surprising builds there.

Maybe one day in the distant future I'll bring you my 1994 Mazda 323 2.5 V6 swapped and Turbo by then to have a go at it . Long road ahead before its up-to spec. Basically a resto mod. By the way David, very proud what you've done with the channel 👏 A community for car enthusiasts

I would have used one of the unused fog lights for an intake rather than lose a headlamp for no reason.

Beautiful car, sweeet sounding. AllPro Subaru in Alpharetta, GA was doing a STI conversion of one of these a couple years ago. Sold my '02 WRX last year that I bought new, 208K miles. Had some issues the last 70K but I figure that's the cost of keeping the car you love for 17 years. Replaced with it's '05 twin.

The motor and exhaust notes sound perfect, I don't think you could do it any better than this.

Tbh this body style was the first car I ever became obsessed with but the 4 door sti. Like kid me was in awe when one of those drove by me for the first time, the sound and the dark green factory colour with those iconic gold rims.

This and the hatchback are my favorite subies, great build and great video!

Always thought the rear end of the RS lacked a bit in aggressive-ness compared to the front! It’s a little unconventional, but I think the aftermarket tail lights I ended up putting on mine add just the right amount of “oomph” to it

700hp, 2800lbs. What's not to like?

If Subaru released this car today, I would 100% buy it. I want a GC8 in this color with the gold BBS rims. Throw in a FA24 motor too and I'm sold. Dream car, dream goals.

ive almost got my 02 legacy up to 300whp 330lbft with a single cam forged sti hybrid build. I am using the rs single cam heads with forged 257 block. Its a freaking blast and hardly anyone boosts the 3rd gen legacy so its nice to have something thats different

I’ve been watching these Subaru’s at the southern Ohio forest rally the last few years and they are tough! Love the sound of those engine’s!

Miss my black 98 RS 2.5. I bought that car new and put a lot of sweat and tears into it. Was such a fun vehicle for the money

That black headlight looks like a patch, I imagine the Subaru saying something like “ You see what happened to me? An Evo did this to me while street racing”

I have a 00 rs coupe NA screamer set up for the road, and a 95 impreza wagon thats for rallycross. These cars are ridiculously fun, they can take a beating and are still winning rallies around the world

I used to own a 94 Subaru legacy turbo and it was so fun to drive and the noise of the turbo was so pure. I had to get rid of it cus it was impossible to find even basic parts. I now own a 2013 Cadillac ATS with the 4 banger turbo and even though it’s much faster it’s not as fun to drive and I find myself missing that old bucket from time to time😁

I got a 16 sti & as nice as it is to have had a warranty I often think I would enjoy an older model more. Part of what I liked about my current sti is it feels like driving an older car but it feels a bit big. The older body style was so simple, something many car companies have moved away from. I never noticed before but it kind of resembles a Corolla from the early 90's with a thicker booty.

There was one of these at my autocross on Saturday. He had a lot done to it and was running slicks. He was very fast

This probably won't happen, as its lower than the Evo, but I'd love to see a Lancer GTS reviewed. (Yes, the reason I ask it because I have a GTS, I 'd just like to hear his thoughts on them)

I'm sorry, maybe an unpopular opinion, but i can't get behind the one headlight is an intake thing. it looks stupid. don't get me wrong, i love this car! but that kills it for me. just my opinion.

The key to this body style is two major things Subaru has not figured out to replicate again. The weight and the visibility. The engineering has improved interior parts, stiffer frames. They couldn’t get the light weight and visibility again. Is a true classic not to mention it’s a coupe.

David! Come by Misfire Motorsports in OKC. Shawn Abedi has a 950whp Hawkeye and they built the “Dung Beetle” for AZN. Incredible shop, Shawn’s an awesome guy and his Hawkeye is FAST.

So refreshing to see a JDM turbo car that does not have damn hood exit exhaust.

Only thing it’s missing is Genome Sti exhaust and it’s perfect 👌

Being from Europe that styling is part of the reason why I disliked the bugeye when it came out. At least initially. Now I like the bugeye because I am stateside and the bugeye was the first wrx in the US. Go figure. But the 2.5RS with an STI swap? Yes please. So much yes. Over all the subies that would be the one I would like best. I still snap my neck when I see a 2.5 RS.

You can’t trust those EJ25s. Mine blew up and all it took was 300,000 miles, forgetting to change the oil for far too long, and redlineing it.

🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 such a Subie nut!!! My 97 OBS would be such a sweet 1st gen WRX clone, but goin forester swap (struts, etc.) for a fun off-roader/ ultra mild sleeper (low boost Amazon turbo special, it is still a stock 2.2 open deck block, after all). Keep the Subie vids coming!!!

Stock location turbo doesn’t sound and different nor would it work superior to something like a rotated or front mount if proper design is assumed and I think you’re mis understanding what you’re trying to convey which is a missed point all together really. Stock location setups typically limit the induction size to 3” which would work against that FO zero anyways so again, in no way is stock location superior to a less restrictive rotated orientation or relocation. Would be nice to see more technically accurate information come through this platform and am happy to contribute to such a cause

I just bought a 98 2.5rs coupe world rally blue, saving up for the STI swap! I'm building for reliability at stock HP, at 700hp I'd lose my CDL lol
