An incredible amount of WORK and time must have gone into this project (and money!). American engine-uity lives! Thanks Tom Nelson for sharing this fascinating documentary.
Every American car company (Ford, GM, Chev, etc.) should make their cars exactly like the F-Bomb. Their reputation throughout the world would return to its former self almost over night!
Nelsons brother should get Nelson to twinturbo charge that Ferrari, i would love to see that. Tom is currently twin turbocharging some guys special edition V12 Diablo with 4wheel drive. Cant wait to see the result.
i own a 94 bmw 540. its a beautifullthing. also have a 97 chevy tahoe, hunting truck. its a giant piece of slow heavy rattle trap shit, but i fucking love it cuz she's tough as nails, and i ain't afraid to scratch the paint. 100s of north maine woods logging roads will eat most vehicles and spit them out. sometimes "nice cars" just don't do the job...
but gets thear quick that guy is amazing I think I heard 0-60 in under a second.he came to a drag in the states My brother was thear said the guy baught a new injection system and was winning the next day with it put it on had it tuned and kicking ass over night thats unheard of.
Non-stock internals if I'm not mistaken. I'm not really a foreign car guy and don't know too much about other modifying companies, but I doubt they would keep stock internals unless they're already forged and capable of more boost. I just wouldn't do it, 12:1 compression or higher plus boost? You wouldn't be running that on 91 octange ;).
So Tom if you want your money back I will give you the $800 the car cost...maybe even a lil bit more, better hurry tho cause I might buy a different one lol. 1985 Camaro roller 350 carbed with turbo, project 2010 almost done
@DoctorVideoGame It'll make just shy of 1000 hp on pump @ 14 psi (if I remember correctly from the HotRod mag the engine was in). It's lowest setting is about 7 psi and it makes 750 hp. It has 2 separate fuel systems and tanks; 1 big pump gas tank, and a 5 gallon cell for race fuel. When it hits a certain psi (at about 850-900hp to be on the safe side), the race system kicks in and uses the high grade.
what do you mean by high compression? 8.5:1, 9:1, 10:1 etc. any production car euro or whatever meant to be driven on a daily basis does not have over 10:1 and if you bought a ferrari with "high compression" and cant buy fuel at a gas station then theres a problem.
the labour and parts put in this car exceed the price of a ferrari 360. camero is cool but ferrari is more all round fast straight line fast on circuit.beautiful looks and interiour. cool camero but i would take the ferrari
I don't understand the point of arguing. All this American VS all else is pointless. Most of you are watching this because you love cars. Anything with a combustion engine is brilliant. japan and Europe are small, hence smaller cars. America is a big place, hence big block engined cars. saying either is shit is a null argument. I'm from the U.K and having a Small block V8 here just...does NOT work. I love great handling cars, but also love diff crushing American muscle. this car is amazing
Id would take the Ferrari, then sell it build a F-body for a 1/16th the cost of a of a 360 then go ahead and beat the Ferrari guy on the road. Not sure bout your area but straight line racing is a little more common than road courses in my parts. BTW its camAro
@NICKSmyNAMEbitch I sure as hell am. Effortless American muscle that can go nuts if needs be. Alas, its not very practical here. Maybe one day Ill get to experience some crazy horsepower.
Ricer = anyone who puts non-performance parts on cars to make them look like they are high-performace. Where I live, that means kids like me (high schoolers) with their stupid Civics/Accords. However, I went American with a 1982 Chevy C10 with a 350.
+Riley Baker because turbo: long headers will cool and slow the exhaust gasses, and turbos benefit from being close to the exhaust ports. (just not too close)
tey put a newer version of this engine in a MTmosler900s called the red devel and it will out do any ferrari, 270mph 0-60 2.1 seconds and the best number 1.1 horsepower per. pound I'd take the Ferrari and put the f bomb engine in it
The fun thing about that camaro is that it has a completely redesigned suspension, so the Ferrari wouldn't have much to do handling wise either. Plus, even with all that done to it, the Camaro would still be probably less expensive to build than the Ferrari. Plus, being fast in a straight line is being fast. As important as handling well. Plus, 90% of ferraris ever see the track. They just see the arse of the rich cock that owns them, to brag about.
LOL, how can they compare a Ferrari 360 Modeno with a custom Camero ... only in a straight line ... have you seen the tyres of that Camaro ... Take these cars to a circuit and see what happens. There's hundreds of engineers who worked on that high-tec Ferrari, unlike the Camaro. The Camaro is a cool car, but I think it's a very dumb comparison. I'd take the Ferrari ...
why is every one compareing this car to a ferrari thats like compareing apples to oranges ther both built for totaly diffrent uses and ur out your dam mind if you think a a ferrari 360 would be faster in a str8 line idk wut your smokein buddy but to think like you i need a hit>
the quarter mile is a test bead and touture ring to build horsepower no ferrari can compeet because thear engine cant put up with6000hp thear engine is heaver and more top heavy and has maney more parts to break weeker parts I might add and did you look at the moosler at nelson ferrari can kiss My red white and blue ass what car co. tells thear drivers that they can't race thear car (enzo)against track times or they will not renew thear leace thats right ferrari owns them all!
well i guess you should have specified that earlier so ignorant people like me (you know, someone who uses the info and facts he is given to come to a conclusion) dont have to guess at what your saying. not a mind reader. as for calling a cold air intake and turbos ricer parts wouldnt that make you the ignorant one since you used ricer as a racist term?
It's for scale, more than anything. If they put it up against a comparable car nobody watching would really know what to make of the results, even if it was faster.
And there came that bullshit again. No, that camaro isn't the fastest production car in the world. Hell, it isn't even a CAMARO. And if you're going to race a street car, do it on street tires, without a burnout to improve your traction... Still, I like the F-bomb, except for that ugly 'bomb' painting.
It's still a Camaro. Stock body shell is what matters. Also, why should you restrict yourself like that? Why would you ignore a thing that helps to launch harder?
Mrgazog Considering this video is about the building of the car, and the car was built in 2006, while the Bonneville run was in 2013? No, he isn't. Not that it matters, the point still stands.
***** considering he has run that Camaro at Boniville since 2004, yes he is! And obviously it mattered or you would not have replied, point null & void.
