I was pretty put off by the typical female rap personas, but Iggy's a very different person, a rare find and quite precious. Her stuff appealed to me as much as any and I'm pretty critical of syllable timing bc essentially, that is rap - Expression & story telling with emphasis on the rhyme syllables for creating it's own melodic overtones to the music; If it's not on beat or aligned precisely to its own rhythm, it sounds like a really bad drummer. I listened for the same w/ Minaj but her personality became unsuitable. So instead of listening to Nicki's stuff my playlist has 45+ of Iggy that served as a very welcome replacement.

Some people also acquire the ability to switch over, if you've developed a new accent, which isn't the same as faking it, which is to mimic the sound in like 10 minutes of talking to someone. Iggy could have learned the US accent from music before she ever left AU, for all we know. However, she was in the states for a few years before she got a break, so we also need to look to her statement that she didn't like the Australian Hip Hop culture in AU. She probably chose not to use the Australian accent anyway, which doesn't go well with rap unless you're in Australia.
