I mixed different brands of paint together to get most of my colors. I mix one part acrylic paint to 2 parts Floetrol 1:2 ratio and then add water to thin to a nice fluid consistency that pours off your stick like honey. I did not add any silicone to the paints. I then poured directly into the center of my canvas from a 20 ounce measuring cup with a spout trying not to move. I tilted and finished off the corners. After this painting has dried a minimum of 1 week (the paint is very thick and wet for quite a while), I will then seal it with many coats of Liquitex High Gloss Varnish using a sponge brush. TIP** I just seal my sponge brush in a Ziploc bag for quite a while not rinsing between coats of varnish. COLORS USED ARE AT BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE

The colors remain quite pure, and very striking , like all of Gina works What I see at the overall piece is that the center pour had a tone gradation from dark to light. Which gives an impression of motion which I like. But, and that is my analysis, as a teacher. Once the Turquoise was placed at the corner. The impact shifted being so light in tone it distracted/ sort of competed against the colors at center.

Thank you Elfie... you are probably right... I had thought about making the corners dark chocolate or black if I had negative space. I probably should have just done that. Thank you for the suggestions... and for watching!

Sandra, you put your color toward the handle of the cup and Gina put hers toward the spout. Just beautiful, btw.

I know! LOL I did another one today... strictly all Liquitex products and still no huge cells... But it is still beautiful in it's own way! Thanks Burnell!

Tried this a few times and didn't get the giant cells either. I think the environment, humidity and temperature, have something to do with our varying results.

The reason Gina got the results she did was, whether intentional or not, she put her paints in her cup by the density of the paint. Each color has a specific density. You can find that number in Resources at Golden Paint’s website. If you put paint in the cup from heaviest to lightest, when you pour it sinks to the bottom catching colors all along the way and the lightest will float on top of the heavier paints. It’s like we always put the white in first. In Gina’s case, her Yellow was heavier than her other colors. Metallics are pretty hefty as well. You can change those numbers considerably when you mix paints to change the color and by how much water is added, since water has a weight as well. In Gina’s case, she was lucky enough to pour heavy to light.

Thank you Judy... Yes, mine came out so different for hers but I still loved it. Hers had such huge cells. I also mixed different brands together...Liquitex, Masters Touch, Fine Touch, Artist's Loft. My yellow did sink down, but I just didn't have any where near the outcome of hers. But you are right... I am not much of the scientific kind of artist...lol I just am arty in my brain. LOL But I did another one and it turned out uniquely different although I used the same colors plus lime. I love it even more. I will be posting it later in the day! Thanks for watching and your advice!

Alcohol can be used instead of silicone to create cells. It does not mix well with Deco Art paints though.
@SandraLett
@SandraLett 6 лет назад
Thank you Kathy. I did not use DecoArt except for a tiny bit in the yellow. Everything else was artist grade tube paints... I tried all Liquitex today and got lots of tiny cells but no huge ones like Gina's. I still love it though. Thanks for the tip on the alcohol. I have never used it before.

Amazing how different your paints/colors worked compared to Gina’s. I do like yours and I think the colors work well tohether
@SandraLett
@SandraLett 6 лет назад
This is my favorite color combination! I did mix all different brands together... I am posting another one that I love even more! But I am trying one tomorrow like hers where it is all Liquitex products to see if I can get her massive cells!
@Plantgarden88

jana darnold Agree, i often wonder with some of the peeps showing their art if they tell the whole story. Gina’s had A LOT of cells for using only the paint and Flood? Isn’t Flood a paint conditioner/binder? Interesting.🤔
@SandraLett
@SandraLett 6 лет назад
Well I did get cells even in mine... I used different brands together... I just posted another one I love even more and some great cells on it... just smaller, but they keep popping up! Tomorrow I am going to try one with just Liquitex and no other brands
@janadarnold2500
@janadarnold2500 6 лет назад
I agree. Maybe the diff paints mixed together affected the cells. Gina said in both her videos that there was no silicone. Who knows. I still liked yours. I paint a lot using the oranges. I have a commission to use reds, yellow and gold. Hope it turns out as good as yours. I may add an accent of purple
@SandraLett
