As I state in the video, this is one of the nicest KZ900s I’ve ever seen in my life. This bike came to us in excellent condition, it just needed a few items to make it tip-top.
Serviced front brakes, fork seals, fork dust covers, fork oil, replaced parts with replated, rebuilt master cylinder, great grips, original coating on levers looks great, gauges are nice, cleaned up the gas tank, no residue. New battery, new battery cable, new speedometer cable, repaired starter button, new carburetor drain lines installed, changed regulator rectifier, new Kenda RetroActive tires, rear master cylinder, rebuilt carburetors, new intake boots, new fuel Ts and gaskets, stator plug replaced, genuine grips, new spark plugs, new K&N oil filter, DOT5 brake fluid, steel braded rear brake line, new exhaust gaskets, speedometer drive cable. 100% correct except for some of the chroming that was previously done. Very collectible bike. Cigar extension for the air box. Very rare add-on, genuine Kawasaki tire repair kit under the seat!

I bought one new in 1976. They were made (assembled?) in Lincoln Nebraska. Kawasaki sent you a data plate after you bought it with "especially made for- and your name"- on it. I put 16,000 trouble free miles on it. I've missed it every day since I sold it.

All my years of being a Kawasaki guy, never seen a tire repair kit or knew they even existed...to cool! Those big Kawi air cooled fours, with proper maintenance, will run forever.

These were very fast bikes, in there day. My uncle owned a KZ 900 and loved to race it, I’ve seen it take out 1,000 cc and larger bikes. His was not a ltd and it was a deep colored green with 4 into 1 header , the only upgrade. Yes I was a kid and dumb enough to get on the back of it, I had to fight to stay on it. .

Whoa, that's some old school in its purest form. What a beauty. Big shout out to the owner for keeping it in such good shape. And 3k miles, is it really original? If so that engine is barely broken in, has a whole service life ahead.

My father had this identical bike and he sold his older Z1 for this KZ. I remember him often saying it was a much better riding bike and he thought the Z1 was faster but he felt much safer with the triple disc brakes on the KZ

Mine is pretty nice but that bike is a beaut. The Mulholland decals on my shocks are like 20% gone. Have 29mm Mikuni smoothbores on it with K&N cones. Still have the stock airbox and bank of 26mm. Jardine 4 into 2 and Lester mags are OEM. Get's up and goes great for being 47 years old. Thanks for the vid.

Had this same bike. I had the steering crown area welded with a couple plates to reinforce it since mine got a high speed wobble and threw me off at 125mph on I-15 coming out of Cajon pass back in the late 70's. When I stopped sliding down the hywy and looked back a bus was headed right at me. I then did the longest standing broad jump in history to get out of the way. Turned out that the Kawi shop didn't put the new front tire on correctly. There was a gap between the fork and the wheel hub which started the high speed wobble. The owner of the Kawi shop had trouble believing I had the accident cause I didn't have a scratch. I was wearing leather and showed him the scrape on the shoulder and the tiny scratch in my Nava helmut (Remember those?). The bike however did. Everything on that bike was made of steel including the blinkers which got scraped down pretty good and several other areas.

I recently bought a 1978 KZ1000 LTD. While replacing the handlebar I realized the left and right switch wires go inside the handlebar. My question is: I want to install the handlebar left and right switches using wires outside the handlebar, what year Z1 900 or KZ 1000 switches should I use? btw, thank you for the Vintage motorcycle calendar you sent with the parts I purchased from you on Ebay.
@Johnnysvintage

Kofla, that's a conversion Ive never tried to make, however I would have to have both switches in front of me to tell you which ones would work. We do offer a terminal kit for those from Japan if you're interested in converting over if that's what you intend to do: www.johnnysvintagemotorcycle.com/product/wire-terminal-kit-with-pliers/
