We bought this stone house in Italy during the pandemic in 2020. The house was a ruin and we saved everything we could, unfortunately that meant only four stone and clay walls! The back wall, against the terrain, was close to collapse; the roof beams were eaten and basically reduced to dust; the inside separation walls were easily taken down and the whole project turned into a heavy renovation/rebuild.

A great worker knows when they need to call in the experts at times. It does not reflect bad on you, but we are all good at somethings and others with no experience it is best to just have help. Great job and attention to detail.

In some countries you are not allowed to do these things yourself, in Sweden we cannot do electricity and plumming ourself, there is no incuranse company that will insure your house if you do it yourself and it will not pass inspection unless you are a certified plummer.

Did I see bidet connections next to the toilet? French-Italian couple: you MUST have a bidet! But anyways, it's so nice to have followed the project since the beginning and finally getting to the (sort of) end of it where the house is looking more and more like you pictured it

After all this insulation, there was no need for such an expensive stove, you could even heat it with candles. and stone walls half a meter wide already provide high insulation by themselves. They keep you cool in summer too.

The hemp and lime plaster is a "thermal correction", it is not a proper insulation layer but a material that suppress the cold touch of the stones and helps regulating the humidity in the house in order to be able to heat more efficiently. Combined with the stone walls (which have poor insulation qualities: R=1.5 or 2) it is not enough to keep a confortable temperature (18-19°C) in winter. So the stove is necessary.

Ik weet niet of ik het zo mag zeggen,maar ik vind dat je zo zelfverzekerd te werk gaat nu.Dat zag ik toen je met de zaag begon,zonder te meten met de centimeter,op het blote oog.Je kunt echt zien dat je nu geen beginnende klusser bent. Je hebt geleerd van fouten en je hebt echt ervaring opgedaan. Dat vind ik echt super 💯goed van je Vince,petje af! Voor 2024 🎆🎇wens ik jullie beiden een fantastisch jaar en ik hoop dat jullie heel snel in het huis🏡 kunnen wonen.

Another wonderful video. Thank you! I love to see the use of materials that are new to me. The wall you built just now and the other walls you cut into seem so easy to make and they facilitate other needs for construction - so cool - and their use is environmentally sound! The plumbing installation in the video is suitable for private homes, but concerning drinking water hygiene, it's not optimal. The central distribution of pipes using a manifold leads to a lot of stagnation, promoting bacterial growth. In Germany, pipes in a public building are not allowed to be installed in this way. Also: Make sure to install electrical wiring to your toilet. You will need it at the latest when you want to install a bidet toilet seat. and trust me: it’s worth it every penny!

It is better to have a utility water distributor with valves to cut off individual circuits. Then you can turn off one circuit and not the entire distributor strip. As for mistakes when making them yourself, unfortunately they cannot be avoided, I have done it myself. I can only wish that everything could be improved easily

It is so interesting to see how in different countries we use different methods. Here in Germany the toilet is built very differently. But i guess both work. Will the wooden construction be able to hold the toilet bowl? But again a great video.

I don’t know if it is true of all countries but things like plumbing electricity and heating have to be done by a qualified person and or inspected by a licensed official. The same goes for chimney sweeping too I believe. So you do what you can and then appropriate professionals take over and insurance companies will cover you.
