I've had to drive on I95 to center city for almost 20+ years. The gridlock traffic was already infuriating and now, with this stadium, it would mean I would have to leave for work about 2 hours early. Eff the 76ers stadium.
Absolute Gridlock. If you thought getting out of a Phillies or Eagles Game in a car was a piece of cake, now try it in the heart of Center City. It will take drivers hours to get out. This proposal must go to South Phila. Putting an arena in center city is a horrible move
idk if thats really true though, the parking lots in South Philly have very few places to leave which creates a terrible choking point, that wouldn't be the case with a downtown arena like this. I would image most in the city would just use public transportation so it's just those coming from farther away for games who are using their car. I visited some MLB stadiums outside of philly in downtown areas like this and it does actually work.
There was a reason why the arenas for the major sports teams were centralized in South Philadelphia many years ago. The reasons were valid then and are still valid today. If these social justice nitwits are concerned for the people who can't afford their overpriced tickets to watch their overpaid players, then instead of spending more money that will result in even higher ticket prices, why not just donate your riches to organizations who help those in need without the extraneous hype.
This is am awful idea. Even with their "mixed income" complex? Who wants to live next door to an arena? This is peak gentrification even with their lil apartment complex that's for the wealthy and maybe 3 or 4 low income families
The fact that Chinatown opposes this still makes me outraged. Maybe City council should stop helping them with fighting crime when they have crime in Chinatown. They oppose the new arena ok then why don't you and stick it. I mean really it's not like the arena will be built tomorrow because the Sixers are still under contract with the old arena. So Chinatown needs to stop with their damn whining and crying. I'm sick and tired of Chinatown business owners crying all the time. Go cry some place else but in Philly.
To publicly call billions of dollars of upgrade to a section of abondoned slum real estate a "displacement". Maybe in Chinatown they like things run by rats? Lol. I am searching Philly projects on RU-vid for pleasure and was intrigued by this development.. Then i saw this. Lol. Wow
