Our Apache Ramada video is HERE -- • 1976 Apache Ramada Pop...
My brother who works the gas pipeline continuously moves all over the country and lives in man camps, hotels, motels, and boarding houses. I've told him all along that he should follow the lead of other pipeliners that he works with and that is to buy himself a camper and a vehicle that can tow it. That way he always has his home with him and he's not spending that kind of money that it currently is renting places to stay. So we found this little gem at an auction and it fell right within his budget to try it out and see what he thinks. Although this is rather small it will give him a good idea if he cares at all for that type of Lifestyle and he can always go bigger. The fact that Heidi and I had one of these campers really made it easy for me to purchase it knowing what it was worth and what to look for as far as problems go. For $550 I think he got a pretty good deal and I believe he's going to enjoy being out in nature instead of cooped up in a motel room period but only time will tell. Thanks for watching guys

You may not think it, but this is a real treat for me. Because your channel was started after you already got into a travel trailer, I never got to see you popup camping experience. I know these things are super simple in design, and arn't much. But what I like about them, is they appear to be an excellent summer only camper, with excellent views, cause the sides are essentially all windows. It washed up nice, can't wait to see more!

My family camped every year in our "Apache" pop up camper for like 15 years. One summer we started to manually crank it open and the crank wouldn't budge!! So my parents went out and bought a used stand alone camper. We all loved our Apache!! Great memories in that camper!!

I recently bought a 1983 Hi-Lo Fun Chaser camper which was in excellent shape for a total price of $700. I currently live in this camper full time at a campground & since it's fully self contained I don't need to use the bath houses at the campground. Whoever owned this camper before me took very good care of it right down to every pamphlet that came with it when it was new!! Plus, they kept an itemized list of all the repairs & upgrades as well. I would definitely buy another one even if it wasn't in good shape like mine.

+Tammy Higgs We almost bought a Hi-Lo.. And The guy that sold us our Travel Trailer was upgrading to a newer Hi-lo.. I would imagine them to be a breeze to tow!! It's funny how you find some people that take perfect care of their stuff then there is then other groups.. here is a link to our other popup that was not taken care of.. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xiXXqu6ziRo.html

Use a product called Gel-Gloss. It's made for fiberglass. It's a cleaner and a wax all in one. Really helps with the oxidation on the fiberglass. After pressure washing it's looking much better. Not bad for a 77' and $500. These hard walled pop-ups are actually a good find.

They are pretty cool.. There is a perfect, permanent repair process that uses special color matched pellets and Mek. It is a chemical bonding/weld. I used it on our old Apache and loved it. I'll let my brother decide if he wants to mess around with that down the road. Right now he just wants to get to the Campground and out of his apartment..

He got one heck of a deal for $550 I had a few pups over the years and always liked the Apache's cause there was no canvas. As for your camper don't uncover it till after the snow we are going to get on Sunday and Monday! Yea I know I said that 4 letter word. YUCK!! Happy Camping!

Those hardsides with wood paneling really cut down on moisture and noise.. Still, not as good as a travel trailer but much better than canvas... Now, as our Travel Trailer goes... We couldn't stand it any longer.. The cover came off today 😀 screw the snow storm! I may not even plow the drive this time around.. Too much heat before and after this storm hopefully will make the white stuff disappear quick..

@@Rvdaydream thank you very much. I was really afraid after listening to one guy on RU-vid claiming that leaks come with this trailer model

I had keep looking back in the mirror to see if it was still connected to my truck. because it pulled so smooth and NO air resistance which helped on fuel consumption. and that was in the 1980s when everything was cheap, including gasoline. so WTF happen to america ?

Hi, does your brother still have this Apache hard side? I would love to buy it if he’s interested in selling.

I ended up buying that Apache pop up from my brother direct and then I made some repairs to it and then ended up selling it about six months after this video was shot. There is an Apache pop up Group Forum that advertises Apache hardside campers for sale occasionally. Plus they're great resource for all the parts you're going to need to repair it.

Nice buy. Just needs a little elbow grease. Should be perfect for his needs. If not he will get more than he paid for it.

I see. He should take advantage of your knowledge and put a lttle money into the camper. Especially since he wants to live in it.
