The @Boeing 777X gets thrown around Hampshire airspace at @FIAFarnborough ‘22. She’s carrying minimal weight/fuel. But even so, with an Operational Empty Weight of 180 tons, she leaves her mark here on runway 06💪🏻👊🏻 #BOSH

I think sometimes it can be hard to see how massive these planes really are when they're on camera, but this one looks huge. Everything from the wingspan to the size of the engines is just BIG. Great to see her put through her paces here.

I was at farnborough airshow working with air cadets and I was lucky enough to talk to Jerry with my friend and get pictures with him. (He is a really kind bloke as I'm sure many of you would know) I also watched this display and the 777x is a truly amazing aircraft.

Everything about this gorgeous machine is badass. Her bullet nose, her main gear which look like a pair of talons ready to snatch prey; her two huge turbofans which howl like Airwolf wishes it could.

That’s the result of not much inside the aircraft, and probably no more than 5T of fuel.

@@jimnaylor6009 it’s full of test equipment which includes 6 large water ballast tanks for weight in which they shift the CG. So the statement that the 777X is empty is incorrect.

Oooof what a beast! Engines sounded like an alarm siren, such an unusual sound. That pilot was having some serious fun though. Id have been screaming as a passenger at the angle just after take-off! ETA: Actually, that angle at 1:17 WTAF?! 😱

For a big-ass passenger plane it's surprisingly aerobatic. The climb-out off the runway was impressive. I wonder how long it could maintain that rate of climb?

that was a 777-200 or 300, 777-9 is even a little longer and wider and still is in testing phase :p

@@Trancial-x-tion thank you for that information. To be honest, we boarded so many planes last week, trying to get from Abu Dhabi to Manchester U.K., was totally frazzled with it all. Finished up flying to Doha and from there to Manchester. Couldn’t get a flight to Manchester out of Abu Dhabi fir love nor money. Anyway, it was a great big plane !!!!!

No, the wingspan is so large on this jet that Boeing included folding wingtips which are otherwise very rare on passenger jets. Without the folding wingtips, it would be too large for many airports.

Some time ago, airports decided that they would not accept airliners that wouldn't fit into an 80m x 80m box (the A380 just fits). Looking at the 777x wingspan, it falls well within that limit, so you might wonder why they bothered to make the wingtips fold. The answer is that Boeing wanted the 777x to be able to use the same airport gates as the previous 777 models, which have a shorter wingspan.

In a sense that it's longer and the engines are bigger, yes. It's not as wide as a double decker, but then again, people were impressed by the A346 despute that plane not being wider than the 787

777 has been my favorite plane, probably always will be. Just an all around great aircraft developed by Boeing and started deliveries back in '95. Still going strong
