You have a talent for explaining complex things in simple words. I enjoy watching your videos, even if the technique is familiar, I always find something new or useful for myself. And now I think that I also need to scratch the frequent grooves on my bats ))

I wish you showed the process for glazing inside the bowl as well. The design looks amazing

I didn’t record the glazing process, maybe next time. You probably can watch my other videos on the similar technique. Just search keywords “Hsin glaze chattering texture”. There should be several videos available in my channel.

Just the tips on how to hold the trimming tool with a finger from the other hand sure helps a lot. Thank you!

Thank you for that and yes I was getting the unwanted chattering ! 😆 The affect of the planned chattering with the slip is so lovely and definitely makes the bowl 😍

It's sometimes fun to get the unwanted chattering and then go with it to get more.

Thank you , I learn from you alot and it changed my level of creating pottery much. you never explained how to know how much clay to trim from the width of the base. I do measure the depth like you explained and it is so great not to gess anymore.Till now I measure the inside diameter of the cylinder with a clay coil and then cut it and put the coil on the outside of the base. this way I know the width goal of the trimming. How do you know how much to trim from the width of the foot/base of the bowl? Also what is a good width of the ring at the base? Thank you so much for your professionalism in creating pottery and teaching.

I think it's practice and making the same size and shape bowl. Some people put a push pin in on the inside and when they hit it on the outside, that is the depth they trim. I think you would want to decide what depth you want to push the pin it.

Beautiful work! What brand is the bat with the measurement lines? I have googled combinations of several words to find something comparable, with no luck.

Great video demonstration! What are the glazes you use to get those effects?
@hsinchuen
@hsinchuen 8 месяцев назад
Which glaze are you talking about? One the texture surface, the red glazes or the oil spot?
@RobGreenLDN
@RobGreenLDN 7 месяцев назад
This might be a basic question but when you brushed underglaze over.the sgraffito texture, how did you keep / clean the scraffito marks to remove any underglaze?
@hsinchuen
@hsinchuen 7 месяцев назад
No, I didn’t remove anything underglaze. Just leave it on. The black slip is dark so it won’t make any difference. The trick: adding some water and small amount of transparent glaze into underglaze for easier brush on and slightly shiny on the sgraffito texture.

How was the underglaze applied to the chattered section? Wouldn’t it stick in the chatter marks? Seems to be only on the top layer and not within the marks (bare clay still). Or is the slip you applied actually the underglaze itself? Thanks! Lovely bowls and glazing!
@hsinchuen
@hsinchuen 8 месяцев назад
Just brush the diluted under glazes over the sgraffito/chattering texture. The secret was that I added a bit of clear glaze into the under glazes to make it look semi-shiny.

你好,林老师。请问视频中坯体烧制后外部跳刀肌理处呈现的蓝绿色是怎么做到的呢,真的很好看!盼复!
@hsinchuen
@hsinchuen 5 месяцев назад
藍色部份是在上釉時刷上一層釉下彩,如果想要釉下彩微微光亮,可以加少量的透明釉在釉彩內。
