Corinne low wrote in her paper “The experiment shows that men, but not women, have a substantial negative preference for age. This preference is robust to multiple adjustments in sample inclusion, checks for attention, and controls. I quantify the preference through the use of randomly assigned income, which becomes a "numeraire" in interpreting preferences. Calculating the marginal rate of substitution between income and age in partner's preferences shows that for every year a woman ages, she must earn an additional $7,000 to receive the same rating, providing a quantitative measure of the marriage-market tradeoff in making time-costly human capital investments.” 8:00

Great episode, Michael. A quick statement on men’s mental health. A publisher asked me to write a book on men’s mental health, which I did from the perspective of evolutionary psychology. One month before publication, they canceled it because of the “tone” meaning it wasn’t PC enough. The mainstream gatekeepers of information believe that proper mental health for men can be seen through one perspective and don’t care that more men delete themselves. I will publish it one day

Thanks for pointing that out. This guy is out of touch when he talks about what men want in women. No one says, "My wife was super physically hot, but unfortunately I had to leave her because she just wasn't ambitious enough and wanted to stay waitressing while I make all the money. I need a woman is more my 'equal.'"
@mrdouche9172
@mrdouche9172 Год назад
@@maskedbadass6802 The guy dropped the ball on that one for sure. He said something along the lines "Most men would want an accomplished ambitious woman that makes 300k/year", but the lil'bro forgot the most important trait that supercedes all others - looks. Men happily date down in money/ambition/status/whatever, if they get to date up in looks, assuming the man in question can fully provide for a family on his own of course. Then he dropped the ball again when he said "most women don't care about height". I mean this is quite simply ludicrous. Data suggests that they really care about height and I bet if you go to a venue and ask all women what is your ideal man, they would all start describing him as "tall" first and foremost.
@maskedbadass6802
@maskedbadass6802 Год назад
@@mrdouche9172 Yep, I just came from some Internet Historian video where he had a friend on talking about how his height is like a super power where he loves to meet women sitting down so that when he stands up he can see how obviously their attitude changes towards him. The "data" types will call this anecdotal evidence that doesn't count, but just about every person who has lived a little can see how obvious and common it is for women to prioritize height.
@maskedbadass6802
@maskedbadass6802 Год назад
@Rick Sin You think those who disagree with you "live online" because you don't realize that most of these ideas have grown in popularity over decades due to people like myself who dedicated years of their lives learning about dating infield. Obviously commonality in intellect will help people get along and being in a similar academic setting is how many people end up in a close enough proximity to meet in the first place, but that simply isn't a priority for men. A very smart woman could be a waitress but the point is no man will hold that against her if she's attractive. You've reversed the causality of why men and women of similar economic backgrounds will end up with each other when it's actually women who make this happen. Women simply refuse to date down economically which is why when a woman becomes a doctor she NEEDS to date another doctor or someone on her level financially or she will lose attraction. Men have an innate understanding that they have to be seen as economically "worthy" so they chase money and status far harder than women ever will, and that is why out of the lists of richest people in the world they will always be dominated by men and the women who make it are all through divorce or inheritance of some kind. If a man has a choice between an ugly female doctor and a super model he will choose the super model. The fact that she makes good money is just a bonus. However, because of societal shaming of the natural instinct of men they will gladly lie to your face about how they "totally want a successful woman" just like they will lie to you about how they "prioritize a woman's personality." I have had dozens of roommates and friends across multiple cities including LA, NYC, and Vegas who are literal millionaires across many fields. 90% of them don't actually care what their wife does as long as she is loyal and takes care of their needs, but in interviews of course they'll say otherwise. The 10% who do care only do because they worry about political aspirations and have wives who are just as emotionally and egotistically invested in their titles.
@maskedbadass6802
@maskedbadass6802 Год назад
@Rick Sin Yeah, but now you're throwing in a bunch of extra factors without fleshing them out. For example, you're bringing up Onlyfans models... are you really going to act like somehow the desire for a physically attractive woman negates the desire for a woman who isn't a whore? These are both traits that are way more important than a woman's level of success in her career. Honestly, it feels like a lot of what you're saying is confusing how you feel the world "should be" vs what actually is (that's not even your fault because everyone starts out like that) and it sounds like you care a lot more about academia than I do. For example, you might be proud of a friend who spent 8 years in law/medical school and then proceeds to work ungodly hours and can't afford a social life. On the other hand, to me that sounds like a mainstream traditional mindset that I believe scams people into continuing to support a predatory tuition racket and working until they die. I would be more proud of my homie downstairs who can make millions just sitting in his boxers in the living room watching stocks and pressing buttons on his phone and has all the free time in the world to father 10 families if he so chose. This actually kind of fits with what you're saying about the couple where the man owns a brewery. That guy has achieved so much success that he can afford to have all the free time he wants and I would argue being time wealthy as opposed to just cash wealthy is more important and makes him technically higher status than a man who earns more but has no life. As for women caring more about looks, that is definitely a byproduct of image based social media and apps like Tinder that have swung the already female-centric scale of dating so far in their favor that they believe they can have it all (wealth + looks.) However, aside from certain basically universal traits that make men attractive (like height) the female perception of a physically attractive male is very inconsistent to the point that women will regularly encourage men to adopt unattractive behaviors ("stop working out") for multiple reasons including fear of another woman poaching their man. You can look up videos where guys in-person or on Omegle will ask women to rate another man's attractiveness and they will consistently call male models "ugly" even when they are clearly in-shape and handsome. Some of it is insecurity and not wanting to make their fat female friends feel bad out of false "politeness," but a lot of it is that female attraction also heavily depends on a man's social skills. If women are given just photographs to decide who to date they will still choose the model-looking guys, but they feel apprehensive about committing to even a simple admission they are attracted until after they can meet a man and see if he is a creep. Evolutionarily it's very dangerous to confuse a high value male for a low value awkward creep so most will reject men by default for fear of safety as well as because most women view most men as hideous.

Completely agree he wants to say that these things are good for society, being progressive and everything but he doesn’t want to take into account to evolutionary reasons and why the reasons and what we have done is bad. He also doesn’t admit that there is a society against men. He is controlled opposition that’s all. Hopefully, at least he realizes if we don’t give some reason for society like wife and kids then society will collapse even with all sedations eventually it will .

I really really liked this interview. I love that there were disagreements but it was all very cordial. One thing that did bother me is that you and Rollo both repeatedly gave him data about the dire situation of the dating market right now and he just kept skirting around them. It is the same issue with Chris Williamson. This guy is married, Chris is like the definition of perfect bachelor so of course they don't see the issue facing the average man nowadays. Everything else felt pretty genuine though.

Interesting conversation. However to say that women are "morally superior" I don't know how he came to that conclusion. Respect the open dialogue in this discussion for sure. My problem with "leftists" so to speak is them making statements like that without explaining further. A lot of stuff said seems completely made up to me without actual hard evidence. Having conversations like these will move our society forward. Love to see it. As humans we may disagree on a number of things but ultimately can find common ground on a lot. Also he's saying men deeply care about a woman's success for long term mating. That's simply not true for high achieving men.

54:51 Michael, it’s important to note that the women on your panel are NOT the average women in America. They are above average. Per the CDC, the average female weight is 170lbs and average female age in america is 41. You’re placing a wrong perception on American women standards and maté preferences because your sample comes from “above average women.” It’s similar to asking a “HVM” his standards & maté preferences and placing those standards on average men.
