As a foreign language learner, one of the hallmark of the genius of Peterson is his language. This man saved me from suicide. I was literally about to jump off Niagara falls on a new years eve and was driving to get to Niagara from Toronto and was listening to him by accident on the way. I heard about him before. When I finally reached Niagara, the lighting and everything in the new years eve and seeing everyone so happy and joyful and what he said, I felt like I had another shot. I stopped at a Timmys, and felt extreme love and affection towards strangers in a way that they thought I was crazy. He literally breathed new life into me. I spent the entire night in Niagara on the lake, drove back the nex morning, everything felt different from that day onwards. It is unbelievable. Here I am! @capenjck
@capenjck 3 года назад
In my opinion idea of equal outcome it is a product of envy. The belief that one person having something that another does not is unfair. The fantasy that two people have the same job should be paid the same even if they perform at different levels. Now that I think about it, could it be about self worth? You being paid more than me suggests that you are worth more than I am. People on the left need constant validation, they need to feel of equal value as people.

Watching the female guests expressions when he "educates" her is by far the best part of the interview. You can tell it resonates with her logically, but you can see the conflict within her political beliefs. This man is simply speaking the truth with facts and data and not involving emotions in any of his conversations. You don't know what you are seeing here. It is not a matter of letting him speak. It is that Peterson is far too cerebral for these people to react quickly, and they are a bit intimidated when encountering English speakers. It is important to note that this discussion goes WAY outside the box of allowed discourse in Scandinavia. They have never heard such arguments before. Notice at 8:00, Annie Lööf does not actually address the point being discussed, but simply slips back into a very safe cookie-cutter discussion about the kind of world she wants her children to live in with regard to equality. Any Swede in a group of 2 or more people would express that opinion exactly the same was as if they had a string in the backs of their necks to pull in order to talk automatically. Swedish discussion programmes on TV that feature only Swedes speaking Swedish are constant shouting matches. The topics of discussion tend to be banal and pedestrian anyway. This particular show is very much the exception.

Without a shadow of doubt, when JP speaks about how his father spent time with him, despite his being a 'task-master', and especially when he recalls the feedback from people on the positive effect he has had on them, it touches his heart profoundly. It's like the recognition that his work on building individuals' self-esteem gives his life true significance. You can see that he is close to crying. He is both highly cognitively and emotionally intelligent, as well as being intellectually competent. Powerful gifts he has. Must also be exhausting and lonely at times. Agreed. It seems to me that what she wants is for children to be raised gender neutral, that girls and boys can think alike ignoring DNA or whatever it is that makes the genders inherently different. She fails to comprehend that equal opportunity does not mean equal outcome. Even though girls have the opportunity to become fighter pilots they may not become fighter pilots by choice. So the outcome isn't an equal number of men vs women pilots.

You just ask a question, and you can ask a tricky question, but you don't engage in criticism - cause hey if you're not gonna fight it, then you are having a debate, not an interview. Seeing more and more debates with Peterson, with people who do understand him and see where he's getting at ....and simply don't agree with his premises and the stuff he just assumes to be true. For example his analysis of Bible stories, going deeper and deeper, is for him a proof of Judeo Christian tradition being on a higher level than other religions. Uhmmm, Really? why ? Just because he can look deeper and deeper nd see more meaning? Hell, you can look at any work of art worth it's salt and find deeper and deeper meaning in infinite layers. You can look at the stars and find infinite meaning. (and people did and do- even Judeo Christians). so does that make the Bible a "special book above all others" ? Mweeeh, no, not from where i'm standing. And his analysis itself seems to be on somewhat shaky ground- projecting his own ideas into the book. (for the record i think the Bible was more or less designed that way - hence you have 100 and counting different varieties of bible interpretation and which one is the correct one? Jordan Peterson's ?). so is it the book, the stories as Peterson himself claims? Or the interpreter?. Personally i'd say it usually falls somewhere in between. There are a few scientists and artists who can communicate exactly what they want. but even then it is what people get out of it - or not. Butin the end that doesn't make the Bible a "special" book. just A book. (with some interminable boring passages between some good yarns. And a couple that make no sense whatsoever- you know the one)

Yeah, but the weird thing is, I think the lady really truly believed it when she shared her thoughts around 12:30 in such a striking way.. Peterson has mentioned the swedish situation before, but these people are treating him like he just dropped off of mars.. look at how silent they are.. She really believes that a person is plastic, that parenting/culture can shape a person.. and what if she's actually right.. As for Peterson from the Americas, where the push for individuality, personality, loudness, and selection for elevated testosterone actually occurs more naturally, perhaps he is mistaken that this translates easily to areas of the world that are perhaps on a different course.. maybe Scandinavia is actually a few generations away from real ambivalence of outcome.. (science may observe, but perhaps doesn't entirely know where humans are heading).. Perhaps toward the historically murky territory of pre-christian european culture, which I haven't heard peterson really speak on, which contained a variety of queens and powerful priestesses, and perhaps more equality in the hierarchy at times.. some of these dark web intellectuals should maybe talk about the social structures of pre-christian europe (edited for my poor grammar that I don't want to remain here forever)

Simpler alternative..............do not get married. Do not let her start moving her things in. Do not let yourself be guilted or otherwise coerced into taking the relationship any further then you are comfortable with. If at some point you start thinking about marriage, buy your house and anything of any real value that you dont want to loose at least a year before you get married. Do not let her move in till after you are married. If she doesnt like that idea and starts in with "but sweetheart, I want us to buy a house together" then she is not after your love. She is securing her retirement and pre-buying her boarding tickets on the cock carousel all at your expense. I'm not telling anyone what to do. Just offering a few helpful hints to avoid what so many of my friends went through. Oh, and above all, when it comes to lawyers, retain yours first and spare no expense. Good luck.

@six_waterbottles6wb129
@six_waterbottles6wb129 4 года назад
@@joshdunham7167 well depending on your level of literacy, what hes saying isnt necessarily difficult to follow, you just have to listen carefully. Besides that, i think the biggest problem is his explanations are very accurate but not very concise, for someone who doesnt speak English as a first language it can be hard to follow in that case. I really dont know how to deal with this from Mr. Peterson's position; if he is more concise, they twist his words and force him to explain with more depth, and if he is very careful about his words, he says too much and they dont know how to respond. His examples help, but if im being honest, you cant force someone to listen to you carefully, ESPECIALLY if they think youre wrong. This leads to difficulty communicating because you're left with the question, do they want to hear your answer? or do they just want to hear you parrot what they already believe... I agree that it comes off as condescending though, and for people that arent very emotionally mature, they get defensive almost immediately. I really hate that though, it is so dumb that people get defensive just because the vocabulary he chooses, he wouldn't be forced to be so meticulous in his wording if it weren't for people constantly trying to twist his words and misrepresent him. But i believe at the end of the day because of these videos and the people that truly do decide to listen to him, his message will get out to people it resonates with, like you and I.

I know this is an old video, i am from Denmark, and its super clear that a huge problem with Jordan Peterson is that most people misunderstand him, he is using many words people dont know, that is of cause not him being wrong, but it is him being right, without others understand what he is saying.. You see people fishing for examples all the time when talking with Jordan Peterson, and many times he gives an example when asked, but the example is just as hard to understand.. He need to remember that he isnt talking with someone like himself, he is talking with "normal" people.. and when he do interview with people who dont even know english very well, like here, he really need to talk like he would talk to someone 10 years old.. Jordan Peterson is so amazing, it is just hard to agree with someone you dont understand.. And that is really one problem we have in the world, alot of stupid people have alot of power, and if the smart people cant talk in a way so the stupid can understand, it helps nothing to have all these smart people.
@matts6139
@matts6139 Год назад
That really makes sense, even someone like me whose first language is English needs to look up words he uses. One thing I would push back on though is communication is a two way street. If they don't fully understand don't fill in the gaps with the worst possible ideas.

So if these people are not told what he really is saying, in a way they can understand, their mind will never change.. that is not the fault of JP, but just a fact of life, and if JP want to help people, he need to speak so they can understand.. Its like when i want to talk computer programming with my mom who is 77, i need to change everything to normal life examples.. :D But i get what you say, i just wanted to share what i feel is a problem with amazing people like JP, not a problem with JP, but a problem for JP.. :S Have an amazing day.
