These people who are shocked that you base your life around physical self improvement. What do they base their life around? In my experience, the answer is not a great deal. Watching TV, killing their brains and body with drink and junk food. A person who had a positive focus in their life, even if different to yours, would be appreciative of the dedication and focus it requires.

The intro talk hit home. Only been taking lifting seriously for two years but I know what you mean. Rescheduling interviews because I wouldn't have time to get to the gym after, asking your significant other to wait about an hour while you go out and condition, making conscious food choices to make a nutritious high protein diet, working at places where you can go the gym before or after... it's hard. Obsession is often just a word that the undedicated use, I think.

@davidthomas9960

The fact that people tell you you're gonna be hurting more when you're older is completely outrageous. There's literally zero scientific evidence that lifting weights can accumulate injuries over a person's lifespan that was only manifest when you hit a specific age. Even though you're lifting more than most people can ever dream of doing and are on dat der celltech, chances are you're gonna end up being a healthy and mobile and strong as fuck older person. Strength training is the most important thing for people to be doing to stave off age-related health issues.
@alexwilliams5587

David Thomas but it is true that powerlifting tends to cause injuries whether you like it or not. It becomes a game of how not to get injured badly than not getting injured. But it does positively influence your life

The key is to lift properly with good form. Simple as that.. bad form for years and not learning to how brace properly can lead to some problems later down the line. I know captain obvious right? But I’ve seen way to many powerlifters at meets with some seriously atrocious forms and I wonder how they train when no one is watching..

I completely agree, even though I (and most of us probably lol) aren't on your level, I feel like nearly everything I do revolves around getting stronger. Even at work I essentially motivate myself by thinking about how the money I earn is ultimately going towards allowing me to continue to focus on my strength now and in the near future. I wrote about it a little while ago and realized nearly 24 hours in my day are about lifting, whether it's food, recovery, training, or work to finance it all.

yo Cailer I agree with everything you said in this video, Most people cannot be great because they are lazy, mentally weak and full of fear. They cannot sacrifice the "momentary emotional high"s like partying, doing drugs, whatever it might be for the bigger goal deep inside of them. It is your extreme obsession and passion with lifting that got you to where you are today. You wont be pulling 400kg if you eat whatever tastes good; party whenever you feel like to; you know that your lifting goal lies above these temporary highs and you are willing to sacrifice them for achieving the greatness you know you have in you. See, most people, not most, 99.99% of the people in this world aren't willing to work hard, be disciplined and mentally tough in order to achieve greatness. That is why greatness belongs to the minority, not the majority. The dude who said you are gonna be fat when you get older is hilarious. Michael jordan is 57 years old. Does that mean hes not great anymore? Keep doing your thing bro, you are an inspiration ! Haters enjoy hating on greatness because they cant be that.

Regarding what you start talking about around 3:30. Heavy lifting puts a stress on the body so yes, if you're unlucky there might be a price to pay in the long run. However, I also believe that heavy lifting is very good at teaching you how to deal with injuries and rehab or at the very least train around them so someone who's been training heavy is better prepared to pay that price. I've met a lot of old lifters and while many of them do have a few nagging injuries they still train in their 50s and 60s. Compare them to the average person at their age and they're still much stronger even with their injuries. I don't think that's a bad deal to be honest. People who don't train get injured because they're too weak when they get old, that's way worse.

@liammorgans7329 4 года назад
Jack- that’s just something lazy people say. Just breaking balls 😉 Genetics arent written in stone. Posture plays a massive role in muscle building. Correcting my posture completely changed the way my shoulders grow. I never used to be able to build my lateral or rear delt heads, but the better my posture gets the easier it is to build them bowling balls. It all starts in the glutes. Strong aligned glutes allows for uninhibited spine, which changes the position of your rib cage, which changes the position of your shoulder girdle.
