for the price, i ended up going with the fotodiox TLT ROKR adapter instead. i have plenty of legacy glass so it makes more sense than a single, dedicated tilt/shift lens. i'm glad 7artisans is finally offering something that does both tilt and shift, even if the shift is a bit underwhelming.

Those adapters are always great cause you can use several different lenses with them, yes! If you're using a full-frame vintage lens on an APS-C camera with such an adapter, then shifting normally will be as limited as it is with this 7Artisans lens due to the field of view restrictions. But if you're using medium format lenses, you get much more leeway to shift (but then the lenses are also much larger) ...

Nice review. I have been waiting for a manufacturer to do this for ever but to my surprise I think that over time I have come to see the open toy focus look to these images as very similar to the various editing settings that mimic it. Oddly, the real thing now looks a little fake to me. Looks fun, I'd prefer a wider angle though.

Maybe I also overdid it a bit in some shots. The more you use a lens like that, the more you start to use it in a bit more of a subtle way ... I do agree that a somewhat budget-oriented, but still good wide-angle T/S lens now would be really cool as well!

It should definitely cover full frame … maybe you’ll get some vignetting when applying shift then but the shift functionality is not that big anyway.

@@tomscameras I do a fair bit of architecture in London etc I've been looking for one of these, Thanks Tom I'll give this one a look, I can live with vignetting as I can crop it out. Thank you for the videos love them👍

@@ianmilne655 I do really enjoy the 50/1.4 overall. In your case, just make sure that the focal length matches your needs. And also the shift function is very limited with this lens - you might want some more leeway when shifting if you want straight lines in your architecture shots. There are other tilt shift lenses out there (better, wider, with more shift) but of course the one downside is that most of them are much more expensive ...

I hope I will get the opportunity to do that. In terms of optical design the two lenses are very similar though so I wouldn’t expect any big difference in performance. And then the shift ability - even though it is very limited - of the 7Artisans is maybe the bigger difference…
