The tape like shown in the video was positioned incorrectly. The film sits on the shiny inner film rails. But the tape was closer to the lens than film would be.

I don't have this lens, but I do have the 50mm f/1.1. I use it with the Fotodiox Pronto AF adapter on my Sony A7ii, and I get autofocus. It's a good portrait lens.

I should look into getting one of those adapters, does it also have a close focus feature?

@@Antnie No, it doesn't act as helicoid. It's more like an autofocus assistant. Basically, if you shoot a subject about 6 feet away to infinity, you just set your lens to infinity (maybe back off a bit depends on the lens), and the adapter will do the AF for you. However, if you want to shoot a subject closer than 6 feet, you need to dial the focus manually to about 3-5 feet and the adapter will AF correctly. The adapter can only travel so much, and it depends on the lens you use.

What's awesome is all of my vintage lenses are now AF. You just have to get the right adapter that goes between your lens and this Leica M-mount adapter.

Yeah it can be a trial and error calibration process.

Great video, thanks for this. I also use the 7artisans 35mm f2 and pretty happy about it. I find it is quite striking how 7artisans win the industrial challenge of producing cheap and ok quality lenses, and how Leica still beats the game in terms of image quality. I do see average to poor color rendering on 7artisans. At the end of the day, it all comes down to weather you can afford Leica or not.

I'm sorry but Leica lenses don't cost 14000 dollars because they only come calibrated. lol. what i would do if I were you, is try to get. your hards on one of the Noctilux lenses and really compare. the first obvious reason is IQ, let alone character and a bunch of other factors that come into play for price differences.

I believe I said that that's one reason, obviously leica has a superior optical formula, quality control and more. Didn't think I needed to touch on those other reasons in the video. Id love to have an extra 14k laying around to test a lens.

@@stevegabrail8293 I would definitely buy this 75mm from 7artisans for $150. Just to play with it with no regret. But I believe it's not that bad for its price.
