The rod is available here www.bannisterrods.co.uk/fiberg...
Take a look at www.wyeuskfoundation.org/ for more information about fishing in Mid Wales

Glass rods are such fun to use, and small streams such as shown are ideally suited for them. I dare say that you dress and finish your blanks with as much care and good taste as you shoot and edit your videos.

Caught my first trout on the fly on a 7ft 4 wt Fenglass, lovely experience, short rods are great for close up work. Well done video too, the world needs more videos like this.

Hi Luke, I posted your video in my Google+ collection with the following description: "Another evocative video from Luke Bannister showing that he can cast as elegantly with a fiberglass rod as his usual choice of split cane (bamboo). His videos are outstanding because they manage to convey a sense of place, season and fly life without an endless procession of fish displayed in grip and grin shots. Nice to see a (grey) *comparadun* featured in a UK video" Kind regards Paul

I'm still new to fly fishing and have a question about what I've noticed in many of your video's. Why do you dip your left hand into the water as you are reeling in the fish that is on the line?
@bannisterrods
@bannisterrods 8 лет назад
+John Banks HI John, well done for noticing that. I always try to dip my hand in water as I'm reeling the, fish in to make sure that my hand is wet before handling the fish. Handling fish with dry hands can damage them, as most of my fishing is catch and release I want the fish to go back unharmed.

That is an amazing looking rod, would you tell me me how much and who makes it? also in your opinion is it better than graphite rods? thank you Steven

Thank you Steven. The rod currently costs £525 and is made by me. I designed the blank and had it made by CTS of New Zealand. www.bannisterrods.co.uk/fiberglass_flyrod_7ft_4wt_p/fbgls-74.htm In my opinion ( I might be a bit biased...) yes glass is better than graphite for small stream fishing. On larger water, big flies and fish 9ft 5wt etc, I would go with graphite.

Pardon me for adding my 2 cents. I am L. A. Garcia, author of, "Handcrafting a Graphite Fly Rod". Fiberglass is hard to beat; it is soft like bamboo; nowhere near the cost of graphite; a little lighter than bamboo but heavier than graphite. To me its most important feature is the ability to "draw in the steel" without breaking fine tipped leaders like many do using graphite fly rods. I have built close to 2000 rods and would prefer fiberglass for most situations; 7 1/2 to 8 feet - 2 piece; 8 feet leaders with another 12 inches of fine tippet; small flies - soft hackles to be specific and most importantly, small streams. Take that for whatever it's worth.

I'm getting back into fly fishing this summer, I haven't wet a line in 15 years, the river is very similar to the one shown here, I can't make my mind up whether to buy a 7'6'' 3wt or an 8' 4wt(basically my choices with budget and what's available near by)
@bannisterrods
@bannisterrods 7 лет назад
Either one of those will make a good rod, personal I prefer 4wt it seems a bit more versatile, although some will prefer the 3wt, and they would not be wrong... Hope you have a good season.

SAGE Circa 389-4 is a good choice, rep one myself, you can get on the cheap now.
