The difference between high gain/low gain on a supporting DAC/AMP & when using with a balanced cable is just day vs night! 😮 I’m listening with Dew4X +HighGain + BalCables & wow, they open up into a new dimension!
Thanks for the excellent review! And thanks for the idea of keeping earphones or headphones of different tuning. All of my earphones and headphones are either flat or balanced. I think Legato would be a good choice for a good bass-heavy earphone. Although I don't like a skull-crashing and eyeballs-shaking sound signature, I’ll give this a try.
at "old days" they have sony xb 90ex, down to the newer xba n3 and z1r, from jvc ha-fx850, aursonic asg 2.5, tfz king pro ( cmiiw ), skullcandy? today not many produce basshead iems, while this recent iems at crazy $2k and above is fatfreq grand maestro se & subtonic storm, not forgeting maybe almost all empire ears products " have bass slam "
They're a pretty fun IEM for watching videos, especially gaming videos, I'm assuming that'd extend to mobile gaming as well (no experience with it). For music there's probably many better values to be had. The bass is ample but my SoundCore P3s extend deeper and slam harder. You know the Legato actually reminds me of a Campfire Audio product done for a lot less money. I briefly had the Mammoth before returning it and found the bass to be soft (but very organic) and the details to be obscured but smooth and easy to listen to. That's pretty much the Legato. Great soundstage for an IEM as well but it's a bulky fit. I think if you find one around 70 bucks it's a great pick up for older to near-modern pop/rock/hip-hop enthusiasts.
hey Pavlo, i heard that these can be a little bit too muddy and too relaxed from the omni present bass. do you know any alternative that are still bassy (maybe not as extreme as with the Legato), but are still technical and with more clarity, contrasts and soundstage? i prefer when the sound is engaging, and the legato tend too be too relaxed despite the gigantic bass
Hello, you can check out some hybrid models like ikko's OH10, but with any bassy earphones bass can shadow mids on a bass-heavy tracks, it's almost unavoidable. but with hybrids you'll get more clarity on mids, and that will make mids more "audible"
How to they compare to the way more expensive 7hz timeless ae ?? Is it worth paying 3 times the price for the timeless ae? Are they the best bass iems under 100 dollars ? Which one would be the best bass iem under 200 dollars ?
This is a great iem. Particularly if you love subbass. You have to try actual movies to even get the full picture of their capabilities. Where 7hz timeless gives up & starts distorting these guys pick up. I watched alot of movies with these using a dongle dac & movies like underwater 2020, edge of tomorrow dts intro all those will literally rattle your brain from inside with these iems.
@@maxpayne69. yeah hope so. I actually got cannon 2 later & that thing is crazy its literally best of both timeless & legato =. I highly rec anything that has bio dd drivers and tuned like cannon 2 in bass it also doesn't distort but is wildly more detailed than legato
Hey, if I use a 2.5mm to 4.4mm adapter will it stay balanced? it looks tiny not the one with cable attached to it and if it works will it sound fine even at high volume or will there be distortion? Thanks!
