You are right. Last week, I installed the same unit in my Q5. I had constant interference, hissing, and static noise and an extremely low volume using Spotify and podcasts. The installer almost gave up, and his last try was to disconnect the MMI module from the cable (a blue kind of Lego small brick), and by a miracle, everything started working fine. No interference and the same level of volume as the radio. Now, when in media, instead of seeing it displayed in the centre of the instruments MMI, I see AUX. The Aliexpress seller was useless and only suggested buying an FM filter to reduce the noise. All in all, now it is working great.
Hi I have an Android system similar to yours, it all works for me just that I don't see the weather information, I practically always have to go back to the original Audi menu to see it...
Mine came with a female and male aux part of harness , I had no sound until I plug them into each other despite me having the Mmi aux adaptor already in glovebox too . Would removing the blue quad mess that connection up? My sound is kind crap rn including on the radio
Hi, i got a question, the bottom corner of silver plastic near the hazard button fits perfect like before instalation? I have this problem after install the new screen… silver plastic ornament doesn t fit it back like before and is annoying…
Do you think the sound would be better if I just used the ami as a regular aux cord? Currently I have a CarPlay head unit that’s portable and just plug my phone in for music. Is that a good alternative than plugging the ami into the unit and using Bluetooth
Some things to know: The airbag harness needs the OEM button and the new button to be plugged into the specific plugs. The one with more wires is for the OEM button. Second, If the airbag light comes on, it usually isn't going off without a code clear even if the issue is resolved. If you are having difficulty with hiding the OEM button behind the dash, I cut mine up as small as possible and jammed it where I put the GPS antenna.
Hi! I would like to ask something about the head unit. For other brand head units I saw that there is separated mic included in the package. Is this had one? And If yes for phone calls it will use this mic? Thanks in advance for your answare!
Yes, this one came with a seperate mic... I still haven't installed it! Not sure where to put it where it would be completely invisible.. most people mount it under the gauge cluster but that would bother me.
Hi, looking at similar for A5 Coupe 2015 RHD concert radio, audi sound system non nav , rear pdc only, Are all functions accessible from steering wheel , concert dial without touchscreen input? Are the underlying factory functions affected when controlling the android screen? Any way to retain factory hazzard air bag switch.Any fix for the hissing.Thx.
The concert dial did not control the screen at all on my unit. When controlling the screen with the dial on the steering wheel, the gauge cluster display will read something like "external audio device active" and take up the entire screen until the "mode" button is pressed. However, the mode button is also the home/back button for the andriod radio, so it will always take you back one page when "mode" is pressed to return the speed to the center cluster screen. My solution was to map the nav button to carplay, so once im done controlling the screen I press mode, then nav after to return the gauge cluster screen to the speed and to keep the andriod unit on carplay. Hissing is not a concern, I had the radio cranked very high up. The sound is good at normal/loud listening volumes. Make sure the blue connector is removed from the quadlock or you will have bad interference. I dont think the factory hazard airbag switch fits in the trim, I didn't try though.
will unit still function if you remove y cable and reinstall factory hazzard switch leaving the connector on the android trim empty ?might chance one of these units and modify a 7'' rhd trim to fit larger screen and mount factory switch. Can you measure the screen cut out in the supplied trim
@@aldo5305 the airbag Y connector is needed to prevent an airbag light error on the dash, does not impact functionality of the car or head unit in any way.
I have this kit ready to install but I only want it to run google maps so am planning to power it and link it to my phone via bluetooth for gps. Has anyone done this?
You can use your phone hotspot, or run google maps offline which works pretty well. The unit has its own GPS antenna so its capabile of navigation without internet, but you wont get traffic data without internet.
