Respectfully, you've got to be kidding me, right? The falicy of #8 isn't just wrong, but also racist, so why would you let it into your video? Here in the West people may not go immediatly to rice as their carb, but I can't count how many people I know who have trained for sports, or were bulking, who added pasta and bread to their diets. I get that rice is low calorie, but it's so high in complex carbs that it's a great training fuel. Next is just that tropes are tropes for a reason, they come from somewhere. My Japanese partner has assured me that adding rice to ones diet is typically how it's done. And last, asking an entire country to stop depicting their own diets on screen because YOU think it's not right is just racist. "Yes, Japan, please stop depicting your culture and diets in an accurate way, cause it makes ME uncomfortable."

For the first trope, you can actually check the cuckcold wizard adventure. Well Mc is a baddie but at least he is believable like you say. He's deranged and likes girls that are in relationship and actually wins them over via sex and/or other means.
@Ch1l1C0nCarnag3
@Ch1l1C0nCarnag3 2 года назад
For a harem, giving the MC a love interest that he is actually devoted to would instantly give us a reason why he refuses to entertain the idea of other women around him trying to get into his pants. Don't have him be clueless about them being into him, have him actively turning them down even if he in some way develops feelings for them in return. You've immediately made the dynamic more interesting because of it.

I dunno. I can halfway relate to the ever-celibate harem king. Just not for the same reason. I actually dated 2 women who knew about each other. I didnt seek that out, i kinda got coerced into it because they were also into each other. It was *not* fun. Day 1 and 2, you're feeling like the king of the world. But by day 3, you want to chill. And you can't. Because one or both will be constantly with you. From the moment one wakes you up, until you go to sleep. Want to spend time with just 1? Too bad. The other will insert themselves, or get upset they werent included. By day 5, you just want to hide somewhere to try and get a few hours of alone time to decompress. So if you put me in an isekai harem situation, even if i had feelings for one girl, as soon as the others declared their intentions, i'm out. Can't date the one you want without the others getting involved and it all just becomes too much trouble to bother with. I'd co*kblock myself at every opportunity just to avoid the smothering stress. Maybe if you threw a couple of traps in the harem, it might go better. "Hey Astolfo.... tag in, man. I need stud services. Hold down the fort while i escape out this window...." Then i'd start running and never look back. 😋

Showing the scene of Demon Slayer when talking about mercy not to kill is unmatched. Tanjirou is capable of symphatizing with demons, but he's willing to kill them because he knew how severe the demons atrocities are.

@@Green-Toast The prophecy about Naruto happened way before the war arc even started, it’s talked about during the Pain Arc with the insinuation that people believe Naruto to be the one spoken of in the prophecy. It’s also worth mentioning that Naruto _did_ struggle for his power, he was the dead last in his class and failed the graduation exam multiple times, only graduating because of a special circumstance. Considering who his parents are that kind of track record is quite embarrassing. His chakra control was garbage and he hadn’t been taught enough to work around it, something that he’d grow very adept at doing during his Shinobi career.

@@sirapple589 yeah that's why I like og Naruto, but when it was foreshadowed early about the prophecy thing on it kinda ruins it for me ya 'now? Like you can work hard and become strong but if you aren't special (basically MC plot armor) or have weird shit that connected you to an old generation who has a power like a god then what's the point about hard works beats talent? And the destiny thing Neji said is true T_T I still like the Naruto series even if it's flawed especially in power level. Now Boruto I question when I saw a short clip on that many of the old characters who we've seen struggle and grows stronger just been retconned... like they're cutboards and can't move and in one explosion they're already down... what form of power is this?

I actually don’t mind the “murder is bad” trope when done correctly, like in HxH, where the main character is a naive child. When Gon actually kills someone, it is a big moment for the character because he never killed anyone before this and makes the moment more impactful.

The "anime diets" you mentioned are pretty similar to what people in Japan eat. Including sporty, active people. There's a reason anime characters are often so excited to eat meat, a reason why so many characters default to white rice, a reason why the foods they eat are so different from American foods; it reflects the Japanese diet, including the diet of very physically active Japanese individuals. Most of your points were very good though. I'm usually okay with the edgy loner character, or the love interest, but it doesn't mean I don't prefer better.
@vrinkee
@vrinkee 2 года назад
Yeah, it's just a difference in genetics and environment. I'm half Filipino and plenty of my friends and relatives eat a lot of rice and don't get fat. They do get fat once they move to America and eat an American diet though. Unfortunately for me, I get fat eating too much rice and wheat it seems. :( I've also watched this documentary on RU-vid about this Korean-American that was adopted by white parents in the US. He decided to find his family in Korea, and it turns out he had an identical twin. Although they were identical at birth, their diet and lifestyle actually caused drastic differences between them. The twin who grew up in Korea was at least two inches taller, but he had worse teeth (though America does have a bit of an obsession when it comes to teeth). Otherwise, a lot of these points are great.

Then the author gives him sad backstory to make us forget everything 💀 -Damsel in distress that can't do anything without her the ml/love interest(s) and always need to be saved. Idk it just annoy me. At least if she can stand up for herself by words it's good enough -Tsunderes. Both male and female tsunderes. Male ones tend to be harsh by words only. However some authors always exaggerate female tsunderes to the point they physically hurt others. It's overused and not funny anymore -Pervert characters that whole personality revolves around them being pervert. They are often used for random fanservice

I think it was called…. Black Prince and Wolf Girl that I found years ago? That one was a very good example of that. From what I remembered, the male lead was just incredibly… rude and mean to the female lead, and even when a guy who was far more kind and patient with her came along and even went on a date or two I think… he was turned down for the a-hole. Yet people still like that series? I mean to each their own but I can’t get behind something like that. There are real people who find the bad boy/girl personality attractive. It rarely seems to be a very positive relationship. It’d be better if the series addressed that kind of twisted relationship, but most of the time it seems to just be the usual shoujo stuff

My most dislike trope in anime and in fiction in general sometimes. Is trauma begone.Where there's a character who has trauma mental health issue or personal problems that plagues said character but when a character (preferably the mc) talks to him 'genuinely' or the character finally confronts or knows what is causing it. It immediately disappears never to be seen or talked about ever again. And this makes me angry sometimes because it feels disingenuous to those who have gone through it.Because getting over those things isn't easy it isn't just you finally know the cause or someone talks to you and it's gone.No it takes years to get it together and control it.Yes control it not get rid of it.Because most of the times you can't get rid of It. It will still stick to you and still have remnan but you can learn to not Affect you in any destructive way. This trope makes it feel like those problems aren't a issue at all.When it is.It isn't easy for people to change or grow.Because sometimes it takes only one mistake to fall back to the very beginning or sometimes people just regress to what they use to do. And as someone who is going through a lot of personal issues this makes me angry because it feels like all my hard work to improving myself and facinng my own problems feel like a waste of time. I mean i wish it was that easy that a simple speech or talk with someone Would fix all my problems but that's the thing it isn't.

Finally, someone said it but tbh, I think tv shows, movies, or anime focus solely on the story and the plot and the worldbuilding and characters and powers, etc; rather (also ) than the mental, emotional and psychological damage, illness, issues, impact, and trauma maybe because it takes another effort and time to be realistic and precise to depict the psychological side perfectly. It can ''mess up'' the origin of the story too because of the psychological side, it can change the characters and their personality and their behavior, etc; which also affects the whole story. I agree with you on this statement, but you get what I mean.

@@titan9546 no I shit on MT because it's shit. Read the first volume and it was one of the worst things I've ever read but I went against my gut because of all the people singing praises. Dropped partway through volume 2 because my gut was not wrong and those people lied Here's the thing about Rudeus: he's a pedophile on top of being a narcissistic sociopath. I mean he's a 43+7 year old man who sexually abuses literal children and is rewarded with the victims of his abuse. Sylvie is groomed by him, a literal 7 year old girl. He thinks how he's raising her to be his perfect woman, and as her magic teacher he has authority over her. It's literal textbook grooming. Eris is a 9 year old girl, he finds her asleep in the barn and he molests her, commenting on the size of her chest. She is NINE YEARS OLD. Then since she didn't wake up he tries to remove and steal her underwear. And he gets rewarded with Eris he never faces any consequences for what he does to those girls since he ends up with them at the end and it's disgusting. Frankly I don't care how much supposed growth he has and it doesn't matter. He will never not be a monster for what he did who feels no remorse for it on him being a narcissistic sociopath, he doesn't care about other people. He only helps Lilia not get kicked out for sleeping with Paul because it would be inconvenient for him if she wasn't there. That's it. He uses water magic to mimic tears to manipulate Ghislaine into helping him teach Eris because he's incapable of sincerity. At his party he fakes tears at being a gift by Eris, her mom thinking that oh he's just a scared kid away from his family. And he's like oh was my acting too good? Oh but he does face one consequence when he gets someone killed when trying to make himself seem cooler. But that's his narcissism that takes the hit. He also tries the claim of oh if only my old family supported me, got me a job and a place to live, and provided me with spending money like Paul is doing for me now then I could have turned my life around. As if they weren't doing just that until he couldn't even be bothered to go to his parents funeral because he was too busy getting off to uncensored loli porn as to the writing being trash: what's the tone? It feels like it thinks it's supposed to be funny but it's not. The magical clearing of his trauma. Roxy puts him on a horse and rides across the property line he couldn't bring himself to pass and suddenly poof his trauma is gone, like it was never there. Does he relapse or hesitate to confront the bullies targeting Sylvie the first time? Nope. Does he panic or have good and bad days when shipped to a literal other city where he knows nobody? Nope. So why give him the trauma at all then. The alleged amazing worldbuilding of the series, why is that not at the start where it should be? If something is claimed to have amazing worldbuilding then my expectation is that it's there from the first book/episode. MT doesn't though and it would be so easy to do. Paul, Zenith, Lilia were adventurers/travelers. You're telling me they never told him stories? Why not share those stories with us to tease the world? He reads a lot of books but do we learn those contents? Nope, cause that would be good writing and storytelling and MT could never literally the one and only positive thing that can be said about Mushoku Tensei is that the anime looks really good. And that has absolutely nothing to do with MT itself so it doesn't even count

I’ve never thought Aang killed people willingly. I feel while the show could have made it clearer that the firebenders on the mountain example lived, they also never truly hinted at them dying either. Keep in mind this is a world where a giant rock can be launched at someone going 35 mph through the air and a complete normy survived most the time. They also show in that same episode the fire nation soldiers just being mildly inconvenienced by the avalanche? Like they’re entirely nonplussed about being covered in snow but otherwise fine. A great example of not killing is when they’re invading the fire nation and actively taking the time not to kill. I think it’s Hakoda who goes out of his way to disarm or incapacitate enemy combatants non-lethal. Which gets really funny when he throws a spear side ways and takes two grown men out like he just threw a heavy weighted rope. This part I might be entirely misremembering, but I’m vaguely certain during the comet they show multiple times that the air ship crews survived and were huddled on rocks or something, crowding in together when Aang raises the ocean to put out the fire. Avatar state gets weird cause for the vast majority of the story it’s not even Aang, it’s the collective of previous avatars acting through him, making Aang less of an individual. More so even with the Ocean Spirit. I’m pretty sure the only two confirmed kills we have are Jet and Katara’s mother. Everything else can be waved away as goofy coincidental muracles in hindsight.

What JustSomeDude42 said. Not only that, Aang is the LAST surviving member of the air benders and the air nommads. If he kills Ozai right then and there, then his entire culture made of peace and love would die. The responsibilities of reviving the airvender culture was put onto him and any decision he makes can be drastic of how everyone in the world can put onto it. Its not that he didnt want Ozai to die for his crimes, its just that HE didnt want to be the one to kill Ozai due to the sense of responsibility of keepinh the airbender ideals alive, hence why taking away Ozai's bending was his best way to deal with the problem and any action towards Ozai can be dealt with by the other nations.

Reminds me of Sakura. But then again, I don’t think that she was actually supposed to be a combatant since I don’t think Tsunade trained her in fighting but more in evasion due to her being a Medical Ninja and all, but there were so many ways for her super strength to be useful in battle. I also sometimes notice how she ends up getting dumbed down because in her fight with Sasori she was sharp, manage to adapt to Sasori’s movements/fighting style, and was tactical or strategic that she pretended to be infected by the poison to kill the main puppet Sasori was using and was taught Evasion Skills by Tsunade but then suddenly she has very poor reflexes to the point she just gets hit by any attack, for someone who was sharp and was able to adapt to battle she wasn’t even able to adapt when Sai, Naruto, and her were fighting against people from the Sand, I think (?) and then she only knows how to punch in close range when she can make shockwaves out of her punches and destroy the terrain to throw your enemy out of balance.

Actually batman has a real excuse. For one, he’s not stopping the cops or law from executing him, that’s gotham’s decision and it’s implied that they are capitalizing off of the jokers popularity. There are several reasons batman doesn’t kill joker himself. 1. It would inspire other vigilantes to copy him and create a cult like following of murderers dressed up like batman. 2. He believes the city should decide joker’s fate, whether its death or treatment. 3. And most importantly, batman is borderline insane himself and believes that if he kills someone he may just start killing all of his enemies. He hates criminals with a burning passion and secretly wants to kill them all.

Tanjirou, in opposite of the usual overprotective oniichan, pointed out Zenitsu's laziness and how it affected Nezuko's view of him (as a younger brother to be babied rather than potential husband) That pushed Zenitsu to stop being a whiny lazyass and put work into the household chores. I’m a bit confused by the examples in the Frenemies bit. Naruto hated Sasuke until they genuinely became friends with one another. Sasuke was willing to die to save Naruto from Haku and when thinking about how Itachi got his power from killing his best friend Sasuke’s mind went to Naruto. Sasuke obviously considered Naruto his friend. Deku, while looking up to Bakugo, I don’t think saw him as a friend, at least not at the point when the show started. He saw him as a friend when he was little, but when the show started, right before Deku met All Might, Deku was always angry at or scared of Bakugo. Deku didn’t want anything bad to happen to him, but typically tried to avoid him most of the time.

Pretty safe to say Deku didn't see Bakugo as a friend to start...since he was his bully! I'm definitely with you there. 6:12 Ameri in "Welcome to the Demon School Iruma-kun" is and stays a badass thoughout the entire series, so I don't completely get your point. She is the main love interest for Iruma. Later in the manga they go on dates and even though she gets Insecure when she thinks about Iruma, it doesn't makes her character any worse. It makes it even better, because the things she gets insecure about are very humane and relatable. She's a tall, strong girl with a very small boyfried. Therefore she's afraid to being perceived as intimidating, unfeminine or not "cute enough". But Iruma accepts her as she is and they have very sweet moments with each other. If your're talking about Clara, then I don't get your point either. While she has a little less "screentime” in the later chapter, due to the growing cast, she gets stronger and less of a joke character over time. So I think you really couldn't be farther from the truth, with your choice of example.

It's for energy. Sumo wrestlers have to train almost 8 hours a day and they need a lot of energy to do that, rice provides easy to access carbs that allows you to have enough energy to move for long period of time without the need of glucose that tends to be rare in Asian culture. Even him acting a bit more informal to Bakugo than others can be explained with the fact that they've known each other since forever and it's, once again, habit.

I definitely agree with you. Also, if Bakugo keeps calling Izuku "Deku", I don't see why Izuku should stop using his childhood nickname for Bakugo. And I don't see how Izuku could be considered a stalker either, even if I know it's a popular take in some corners of the fandom. When did he stalk Bakugo in the story? If anything, Bakugo is the one making a lot of demands on Izuku, acting like he had somewhat the right to private informations on his life (his quirk) because he felt entitled to knowing (pre- character development) it due to their previous relationship.

I think the "one sided friendship" trope is like... a poor execution of a good idea. and it's poorly executed on a lot of levels, but it starts with the mean half of the pair. ultimately, I think the ideal version of the "mean friend" would be like, a misunderstood, sad backstory male tsundere, in the well constructed sense. (quick aside: tsunderes in general are an often butchered trope, which is why the one sided friendship trope is having trouble... it's already relying on having a tsundere that isn't poorly written, as the crux of it's functionality.) like, the ideal form for the mean friend would be someone who has genuine struggles connecting with people. someone who is defensive because in the past, they've actually had to defend themselves against something that really hurt them, and now their trust in other people is damaged. like, maybe genuine kindness comes off as duplicitous to them, unless they receive the kind of diehard proof that the nice half of this pair is ready to present to them. basically, it's a kind of social anxiety, mixed with a self fulfilling prophecy. due to trauma, this person has every reason to be anxious about the possibility of other people treating them horribly... and even worse, they suspect all kindness to be a thin veneer laid over top of cruel intentions. the lesson that a tsundere fundamentally needs to learn, is that their trauma can't become a reason for them to treat genuinely good people as though they're monsters. that behavior is just repeating the cycle of abuse by mistreating someone for basically no reason. the tsundere has to realize when their anxiety is misdirecting them, and take it upon themselves to change for the better. and there is this idea bubbling beneath the surface, that the nice friend is exactly what the mean friend wants deep down. and the nice friend is willing to be the person that gives them a chance to grow out of this worse version of themselves... the nice friend is supposed to be an idealistically patient and kind person who gives them a chance, before they've even given themselves a chance. and if only the mean friend can be convinced, somehow, that this kindness is real and it's not going to end up hurting them in the end... then they could move forward and become a much happier person. this is such a good springboard for creating a genuinely deep and complex character... it really is a travesty that "tsundere" is a blanket term that mostly makes you think of angry girls yelling "b-baka!" and hitting people. so yeah, that is the ideal form of the mean friend, but the nice friend can also come off as suuuuuch a doormat, if they endure too much mean treatment with no proof that anything is actually going on under the surface. like, if the nice friend is just a punching bag, then it's actually kind of hard to imagine how they can help the mean friend overcome their demons. like... _this marshmallow_ is going to help him??? really????? and keep in mind, when it comes to this dynamic, the nice friend can still come off as boundlessly kind, or soft, or gentle... that's fine. but the kind friend is most effective when they can display how hard it is to be kind, how much work it takes, and why it's still worth it to them anyway. the kind friend should be the strongest character you have, because they are the tsundere's foil. it's especially good when they know how hard it is to go through the shit that the tsundere went through, like, maybe they've gone through similar trauma themselves... but that shit didn't break the kind friend, and that's why the kind friend can help the tsundere find a better way forward. because they know. so like, if the kind friend is coming across as an actual pushover, then they aren't performing their function correctly. kindness takes hard work. it is the _LEAST_ easy path, and they keep choosing it, over and over again. always. and that's why the tsundere will eventually find good reason to believe in them. the one sided friendship is what you get, when you skim the surface level dynamic off the top, and leave all the depth behind. you end up with this wimpy little punching bag character who acts peppy but looks more like a bullying victim who's trying to tell you that their abusive partner isn't so bad... and the character they're paired with is just... an asshole. no twist, just a jerk. like, if the mean friend is just mean all the way to the core, and the nice friend just keeps making excuses for him... that's just an abusive pair dynamic, and it isn't fun to watch.
@Opalescent
@Opalescent 2 года назад
The way you wrote a whole ass well constructed essay about this...amazing. completely agree. And in my opinion the best version of this dynamic (which begins unhealthy but becomes more kind/genuine as the series goes on) is from Fruits Basket 2019. One of my favourite manga and animes that has a real understanding of complex relationships. There are several characters who are mean to others simply from fear of getting hurt, and THEY GROW WITH TIME.
@kamuyking551
@kamuyking551 2 года назад
@@Opalescent yessssss oh my god Fruits Basket was exactly what I was thinking of for a lot of this... I just didn't want to get into too many specifics with that, since I know that the original trope was more about friendships, and specifically shonen anime rivalry. this explanation works both ways though, platonic or romantic, and it's also no surprise that a lot of shonen rivals get shipped enemies-to-lovers style, because I think fans like to extrapolate this dynamic out of whatever's there. but yeah, just thinking about what happens between Tohru and Kyo... they are the prototype for what this dynamic looks like at it's best, in my mind. and Tohru is exactly who I was thinking of when I said that the "nice friend" is actually the strongest character, because they know that kindness is the hard path, and they are kind through effort, because they think it's worth it. Tohru can carry that series because she's so good at giving people something to believe in, and giving people chances before they've even done that for themselves. I was also thinking a bit of Mob, from Mob Psycho 100... especially in relation to Reigen. Mob is the type of character who is kind of naive and gullible, and Reigen feels like he has to teach and protect Mob, because he is an adult, and he assumes he knows better. but trusting other people is one of the things that Mob actually does get right. it can sometimes make things harder for him, like when he first met Teru... it's certainly not the easy path. but that same approach was what let him mend things with Ritsu, and the decision to trust Reigen, even when a more suspicious person wouldn't, is why those two have the strong friendship that they do. Reigen has to be skeptical because he doesn't want to be a sucker... it's important in his line of work. but this is the value that Mob brings to the table, even if he's still finding his own sense of balance between trust and suspicion. but yeah, this is just my pet favorite type of character(s) so I'm spouting off a little. ^^;

Eating a ton of rice usually signifies to Japanese people that the character is young, healthy, athletic, and working hard. Parents will encourage their teen children to “have more helpings of rice or you won’t grow”. I think one anime trope that is becoming more common now in shonen (and in retrospect has always been there, I just never got as sick of it as before) was "MC starts out as underdog loser, and then by the end of the series he's revealed to be the second coming of Christ and fighting god because it was his destiny/birthright". The most recent of this trend would be Naruto and My Hero Academia. Both start out as outcasts who have to work seemingly twice as hard to get even half the respect and recognition as their peers but turns out they were never underdogs to begin with. Naruto was the son of the 4th hokage, and a reincarnation of the son of the god of ninjutsu. Deku also suddenly becomes the Avatar and has access to powers of all the previous one for all's that not even All Might could access.

Something that makes the lone wolf trope work in other situations is writing. Honestly, good writing can fix most problems associated with a show. Because even though a lot of people would blame the “predictability” of the plot or the “generic” characters, you can always find a show that has those exact same problems and turn them into interesting plots-lines or better characters. Of course, though, there are tropes that can’t be overcome through just good writing. Like the “girl hits boy because pervert” trope. Which for some reason has plagued anime for the past 20-25 years

Not killing trope. Yeah that one bus me, with 1 or 2 exceptions. First being, when the MC's issue with killing people is physically justified. Characters who pass out at the sight of blood, get violently sick, or such and they if they were to try and kill, would likely end up throwing up or passing out... While not anime, River in serenity is a pretty good example here. she's being shot at by guards, hiding, picks up the gun looking at it... "Don't look don't look don't look"... pokes around the courner eyes closed, using her precaug to know where to shoot, shoots them without seeing them get shot or bleed, then ducks back. There are lots of cases where characters act tough, will fight, but the moment they "have to kill" get really squimish because they don't know if they are ready to cross that line yet... they KNOW someday they may have to kill someone... but... And in many cases thats a good way to go. Not everyone CAN or is able to kill... even some real world soldiers in combat... train for months, but when it comes to actual combat, they freeze unable to pull the trigger and take a life.

How far in revenge is a character willing to go? What constitutes it? And what's the truth behind it? Obito was as deserving of death as every legend there, he was just fucked up enough by both his experiences _and_ Madara and Zetsu that he literally thought that he was doing the _right_ thing. I don't think he deserved anything but fucking therapy and some jail time while doing community service.

What I find as the worst thing about the Kirito harem is (and correct me if I’m wrong because I actually haven’t been interested in sword art online since I finished season 1 of the anime) HE IS ALREADY COMMITTED TO ONE GIRL AND ALL THE OTHER GIRLS ARE ONLY TRYING THEIR HARDEST TO GET HIM TO CHEAT APPARENTLY. Funny how the only things I kind of like about sword art online is when Kirito is not (THANK GODS) the main character, for example that one spin-off about a Female Protagonist who worries about her being tall in real life and SAO Fatal Bullet (even though the game still found a way to shove Kirito down people’s throats by forcing you to have him in your team for a portion of the game) a video game where you actually get to create your own original character.

I would sympathize more with characters like Bakugo or Sasuke if their dislike towards the hero was justified. The thing is often it's not. Sasuke doesn't directly hate Naruto. Is more about him recognizing that he and Naruto could be good friends if it wasn't because of his burden to avenge his clan. In Sasuke's mind, mistreating and fighting people is his way to prove himself that he's strong enough to take on such burden, that's why he hates Naruto, because his sole existence makes him feel that he should give up and accept the kindness of others (aka, being weak). He's traumatized, that's the reasoning as to why he hates Naruto. Naruto, who's kinda good at reading people, immediately realized what Sasuke was thinking and tried to prove to him that opening to others and to friendship is not a bad thing and will never be. That you can be kind and strong. Of course, this is all subtext and I understand that at face value it does look like Sasuke is being like that for no reason.

One anime trope that I absolutely despise and one that really disgust me and offended me is incest! In most anime they have the sister character be in love with their brother character in ways that just aren't right. They will go as far as stalk them and try to literally bang them! Their own brother!! Heck the same thing can be said about how brothers do it as well as mothers, or fathers, heck even grandparents! They do this in almost any anime that involves siblings. Mostly harem! Needless to say, I don't find it fun to watch. I find it disgusting! 🤮 While it is true that in real life siblings don't get along, it's not like their worst enemies or mortal Kombat fighters. They actually do get along and settles things without any sort of violence or abuse. Siblings do love and care for each other, they protect each other, they have each other's backs, they help each other with their problems, they do fun activities together! But for the love of God, they will not go as far as trying to bone each other. That's not how it works. Now I've seen anime where a relationship between siblings is actually normal and really cute. But I do wish they focus more on developing that kind of relationship. As a brother of two sisters that I really care about and enjoy spending time with, I really don't how incest could work. Especially when it goes way too far to a point where it's just unsalvageable. To anyone who gets this comment remember to be happy with what you got. With hard work, positivity, and never giving up, your life will get better. Even if you face problems along the way that can't easily be solved, at least try your best to overcome it and don't let it get the best you. Even if you fail, the important thing is you tried and you can always try again the chance you get. And remember to always love and care for your family. Even if they aren't perfect and have their flaws, still love and appreciate them and give them a helping hand. Thank you and have a nice day! 😁👍

The whole "the main character must be an audience self-insert" thing is the most annoying to me. I guess I just don't enjoy media the same as a lot of other people? I can think how cool it would be to be in a fictional universe without imagining being the main character specifically. And I would be much more invested in the story of that fictional universe if the main character I'm watching in that universe was an interesting, nuanced, well-developed person instead of a cookie cutout of a young Japanese man with all the details sanded off.

100% this. This is the exact problem with most anime MCs (isekai in particular) these days. Maybe I'm wrong too, but frankly I think most in the japanese entertainment industry (encompassing LNs and WNs, manga, and anime) are horribly mistaken on what the audience wants. Maybe they feel bland MCs are more accessible somehow to a wider audience? Idk, but im confident that we're not alone but are rather part of the vast majority of the anime market that prefers characters with personalities. Part of it's probably writer laziness too, but still. For myself and I suspect most of us, it's more relatable to see a character with a personality that may even drastically differ from our own than a cardboard cutout of indecision who makes no choices that determine the flow of the plot at all. An audience can INTERACT with an MC with a personality! I can compare and contrast their thinking and what decisions they make with my own! I can put myself in their shoes to understand how their circumstances make them feel! I can praise or criticize them, evaluate them as a person, and reflect on how I measure up as a person for better or worse against them! They're full of life and provide a fun experience to watch and think about! A bland MC, on the other hand, is a dull and lifeless tool around which the story flows. They're annoying because they bring no value to the story. Give me human MCs, then give me uniqueness and interesting perspectives on top of that. That's what MCs should be.
@GD-xk8cb
@GD-xk8cb Год назад
Its annoying that people say as an argument "he's like that because he needs to be relatable for the audience, therefore its genius" well here are some news, an mc doesnt have to be relatable for the audience, you can make a protagonist that don't have anything similar to the average citizen to make him interesting or make THE audience be invested in the protagonist, a good example would be Walter White or Arthur Morgan, they are not relatable yet they're way better characters than most of anime's mcs, it doesnt even have to look young to be an interesting looking character , jeez.
@Axterix13
@Axterix13 Год назад
It is, however, much harder to write a Walter White than a Bella Swan. Also worth noting that the target audience differs. The animes that do this type of thing are what I categorize as escapist drivel. And it isn't limited to anime either. Most YA novels make teenagers critical to the saving of the world, with very little adult supervision. That includes Harry Potter, a jock who is given all sorts of special privileges. Your boudice ripper romance story will have a female lead that has very modern values for the time the story is set in. Most fantasy novels following the "hero's journey" arc have the main character being a bit of an outsider, in part because that makes it easier to slip in exposition, but also because that's more of their target demographic. Realistically, it'd be some noble's son raised with various bits of training and connections needed to actually pull such a thing off. And the same type of stories will also be less complex in other ways. Like the Drizzt DnD series has the best swordsman, the best assassin, the strongest barbarian, the dwarfiest dwarf, a stereotypical thieving halfling, and the token female character even gets to become a super archer thanks to a magical bow. So, yeah, most escapist stuff is not complex or nuanced. Doesn't mean it cannot be enjoyed though, if you are in the mood or it is just your thing. Just don't go thinking that anything where every female character's personality pretty much consists of simping for the MC is quality, even if you enjoy it ;)

The healer that healed the MC: "You've GOT to be kidding me!"

My point is, in seven deadly sins those scenes are very quick and then they move on to the plot, other animes has everything drag out so long to the point where it ruins the enjoyment.

Raku from Nisekoi was flawed and tried to actively pursue Onodera. He rejects the other girls out right as he only had two girls he had feelings for. What stopped him from down right pursuing a relationship at first was the false love concept keeping him tied to Chitoge. All in all, a great read and a great MC as Raku wasn't plain bread. Same with Fuutaro with Quintessential Quintuplets. He was smart and had a bit of a temper. He was socially inept as he dedicated all of his time to studying and just wanted to meet his "promised girl" except he forgot to still be social so he could interact with her. Something the girls help him with as he helps them so they all had a solid reason for liking him. I can not vouch for other harems.

The thing i find most problematic with the "murder is bad" trope, is often they've mowed through the minions and then revuse to kill the evil overlord. Narnia prince caspian comes to mind. They invade the castle mindlessly kill, maim and yeet random guards over the walls, but then when they face off with the unrightfull king they refuse to kill him because "they're not like him". Like B, i dare you to look the widowed wife with her 4 children in the eye and tell her why her practically innocent husband is dead but not the guy who started all of this

My least favorite anime trope is the "guy who's so avarage it's painful" They're *always* just there to balance out the wackier characters and it's always done awfully. You see it everywhere, From Tadano Hitohito (his full name literally translates to "just your avarage guy" to Yuuta Togashi to even Bell Cranel just to name a few god forbid *every single isekai MC*. Look at Kazuma (konosuba) as the breath of fresh air as the "just your avarage guy" done right. He balances out the other characters while also being pretty wacky himself. He has his own character traits other than "make this guy as avarage as you possibly can, we don't want to make a *gasp* *intresting character*" Another example of avarage done well is Kobayashi from Dragon Maid. She's pretty avarage, office job, single, etc. but the traits that she does have make her interesting. She's a very hard worker, down to earth, and *ahem* rather fond of maids (which in turn removes her groudedness every time they're brought up) and she's loud and rash whenever she drinks. In turn, we also see her change through the series, from being lonely and unnaceppting of Tohru, she warms up to them as time goes on. Anyways, sorry for ranting, I just really hate that type. I'm also no english major so if it was poorly presented I'm sorry

Lol I started reading this and instantly thought Tadano because I’ve been reading/watching Komi to fill time. I don’t necessarily hate it to the ground. What I really hated about that show more than anything is how disgusting the other characters treat Komi. I think that kinda stole any annoyance I had for the most average guy ending up as her love interest. Leave the poor girl alone? Tadano’s approach is not forceful or anything and that’s how even an average guy like him can win her over. Everyone else just assumes what they think she wants without actually making sure that’s what she wants. Esp in the beginning before she started using her notebook as a communication device. Personally it made me really like the more normal/average characters just because of that. Not to disagree with you, of course. Tadano’s character type also gets annoying when it comes to actually dating someone…. Though I probably wouldn’t be much better if I dated someone either lol

@@evewhoo To be fair against Komi's problem a friendly and calm approach like Tadano's way to interact with people (shy and insecure) can be really helpful. Sometimes extravert people can be scary to someone with social anxiety they make you feel nervous.

The trope i hate the most (in nearly all stories) is, when the mc's have to lost there powers at the end of the story. Where is there reward, to finish the problem, when they have to become a normalo again at the end and stand there, where they was at the beginning of the story. First, power ranger. Where most of them lost there power at the end of each season. Than digimon, where the kids always lose there digimons at the end (except of 02, what is the reason, why i love the ending of 02 the most). Or K project and Magi. It exist only a few cases, where i am ok with it, when a story ends with the result, that the chara lose there power. But only, when they are suffering, because of the power. Or gain a other, more important thing in exchange.

To be fair, part of the point of Digimon is that their world is meant to be somewhat separate. Them mixing is not something that is likely to happen, or to be a good thing when it does. I wish there were more creative ways to get around that and make it so it can be, but that was very much the point of the first few seasons of Digimon. It was never _meant_ to be permanent. There are new seasons of Digimon that may have done it differently, but I haven't watched them, so I wouldn't know.

I think I have to argue in the case for Magi, but I don't really remember the series. So all I can say about the MCs losing their power is due to the fact that the (old world?) system has changed, to the point where leaders of that world are working very hard to redefine their lands and laws. Magic still exists (i think there's new research going on for it?) and though djinn equip is gone, im sure alibaba and morg (happily married with a trading company! can't forget that) can still use magic tools 🤔 (double checking the final chapter now to see what else is there, feel kinda embarrassed lol) It looks like Aladdin, Alibaba, and Morgiana are exploring the new world... I feel like that may be a reward in of itself! They fought hard for this new world, now they'll be able to enjoy their adventures in it without any sort of big bad to disturb them!

Oh how can i forget the Most annoying trope of them all, either the most beautiful girl in class talks to the mc and the whole class gets hostile towards him as if she's the only girl in class or the Deification a female character to the point of being annoying and toxic and usually at the cost of the MC's well being.

A troupe I hate, when a main protagonist is fighting another protagonist for a MISUNDERSTANDING, that could very easily be cleared up! Or when the story goes in a direction that could've been prevented by common sense. People argue: "well then we'd have no story or plot, like bro, if common sense destroys your entire story then IT WASN'T GOOD ANYWAY

There's this one Webtoon called "The Boxer." It is like reading a sports manga where you mainly follow who in *any other series* would've been the final antagonist as he crushes the careers of many other boxers as he quickly rises in the ranks. The way it treats every person as someone real with ambition, history, and with people they care for, only to be met with this monster prodigy that wordlessly puts an end to it all is fascinating.

Everything else was on the mark but I lost you at the one sided friendship section. Naruto and Sasuke were genuinely friends at one point. And afterwards, it was just a case of "bruh, you're going to ruin your life doing this! For the sake of old times, I'll try to give you a way out." And it played out Naruto's character on not giving up. Midoriya... let's just say he's an abuse case. He literally grew up with the knowledge that EVERYONE around him is going to loath his existence because he was a minority. He knew Bakugou better than he knew any other kid, not to mention, he wanted to be a hero at a young age. For him that meant being an overly kind and forgiving doormat with zero sense of self worth! Don't blame him for clinging to bakugou, the guy's traumatised by society and wanted to stick around the familiar evil instead of encountering an unknown evil. Still true to character.

In most part of Asia, Rice is the most common daily food one can consume, its a cultural thing. Most men would rather eat 5 bowls of rice with one piece of chicken breast than eat tons of hamburgers. We pair rice with mostly any food we like, pasta/noodles with rice is normal, bread with rice in the morning is common, etc. So eating lots of rice in a diet show is not that very questionable for us, but yes it's not that recommended when you are on diet.

I don’t believe noafumi makes it into the trope of mean lone wolf nobody else understand’s. He was shone to be very kind until his betrayal where despite sinking low he only did so for his survival and once raptalia broke through to him he genuinely treated the people he loved with kindness and was fair to everyone else.( hero needs money too.) Also though the world starts off against him, he slowly earns their respect until they find out their princess was just a lying b!&ch and from that point onward most people are genuinely accepting of naofumi who still has trust issues but is much more accepting of others than he was before

Another trope that I hate is: A female protagonist is meeting the first love interest and he will become the boyfriend/lover/husband of her in almost all cases. So from the very beginning even if the 2nd and 3rd love interest show up, it's clear the 1st will win her heart. He gets the most screen time and a lot of times, the FL had a crush on him from the very first second. Story's that are able to make it really hard to see who will end up with the FL and give every love interest the same chances are rare, but sooooo good and it's sad that there are so few. I have seen 2nd love interests who are much more favoured to be with the FL, by some fandoms and have a far better dynamic with the FL than the 1st love interest who ends up with her. And this trope just destroys such wonderful opportunitys, I have seen a second love interest who was the villain who let the FL intentionally win so that she doesn't get hurt too much and even almost died, saving the FL and the dynamic between them was so beautiful. At first he regarded her as enemy and not immediately, but slowly and steadily fell for her, at some point she even saw the good in him, saw him as a friend and tried to persuade him to change his goals (He couldn't abondoned his goals but he wavered and was touched and even suggested to his friends that they should maybe change their way of achieving their goal). But she ended up with the 1st love interest who she had a crush on since long ago, who was actually not human but some kind of Prince or something who was sometimes controlled by the end boss villain and I hated seeing the 2nd love interest being turned down. Maybe someone recognises the anime I'm talking about. I watched it a long time ago and am still so upset about it. And I hate the trope of the ML or FL having blond hair and blue eyes.

Got to say, 4 really is a pet-peeve for me. With the worst offenders being reverse harems honestly. I mean, okay if he's gonna fall for the heroine at least make it believable as to why. The same with those anime where the heroine is not really impressive but somehow she ends up living with the guy she's been one-sidedly in love with and literally breaks him down through sheer will-power to fall in love with her, and like the guy clearly had no interest in her at all. Saddening.

I had to dislike this video for dissing Ameri. She is not just a love interest drone. She always had a soft side. She is still stern and serious. I also can't like anything that disses Dragon Maid. When did this trope ever happened in Mha?Urakaka always had an enormous crush she was never dumbed down.

One trope that I also don't really like is when a scene is supposed to be funny, the characters are animated very cartoonish/caricature-like, having an over the top reaction telling the audience this is the comedy. It has the same effect to me as putting a laugh track after the end of every joke. This is prevalent in shows like Haiku & Demon Slayer. The only anime that succeeds to take advantage with it and managed to blend it well with its humor is Mob Psycho 100.

The batman argument is dumb. First off, Batman wants to value all life and knows if he starts killing his values might slip further, considering despite his mental fortitude the man is genuinely mentally unstable. Its on the justice system for not killing the joker time and again, why should it be batmans job to be judge, jury and executioner?
