Not even close to being an upset. The Giants defense that year was ranked #1 in PA. The offense committed the fewest turnovers and they had lost to the bills 6 weeks earlier, 17-13. The Giants held the Niners to 7 points in the reg season and 13 points in the NFC Championship game. The media hyped up Buffalo before the Super Bowl but the Giants knew how to play them. Giants held the ball for over 40 minutes and the Bills were 1-8 on 3rd down getting their only conversion on their last drive. This was not an upset.

Belichick used a similar gameplan in Super Bowl XXXVI to upset the Rams...they never let Faulk catch the ball but surrendered him running

Not sure how this was an upset. High power offenses struggle against smash mouth football teams with a dominating defense, always have. The Giants have knocked the high scoring 49'ers out of the playoffs three times by physically dominating them in 1986, 1990 and 2011.

I'll never see this as a big upset. The Giants were 14-0 before Phil Simms got hurt and had just defeated the 15-1 two time defending Super Bowl champion 49ers on the road in the NFC Championship. They were a damn good team.

If the Bills could have won Super Bowl XXV, they probably would have won the next year as well. Essentially they cost themselves 2 SBs. Also, It's not Norwood's fault.

Unfrigginbrlievable...... XXV was IMNSHO better then XXI. nobody imagined GMEN could beat the K-Gun offense. Yrt as we Giants fans now BB the DC @ the time, created not only the defensive game plan but the offensive gp as well. LT Carl Banks and the entire D was offended. "We gotta do what?" Allow T Thomas to rush for over 100 yds. Of course BB didnt say anything about a missed fiwld goal @ end but it happened.
