Claudia, what a wonderful and exciting list of books you presented!! From Tolstoy to manga, from tale to reality. I will definittely list some of your titles on my TBR!! One book that influnced me as a boy, was Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Dafoe,...and more specifically the art of doing lists. When Robinson manages to bring stuff from a stranded ship , he lists them, so and so much rope, so and so many rifles, gunpowder etc. And from that day when I was 7 or so, I started to do lists!! So I have a long but never ending TBR....now also some of your key titles !!

I did a talk about Frances Hodgson Burnett at my ladies church group. She had a tough life and the little princess is kind of autobiographical as her family fell on hard times and she had to work at a young age. X
The Secret Garden and A Little Princess were some of my favorites growing up! I haven’t thought about either in a while and I need to reread it. The Catcher in the Rye is one that’s definitely on my list as well! Some of the books that changed my life include Red Dragon by Thomas Harris and The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides.
Wow A Little Princess is my favorite cartoon drama series as a child and a few years back ive watched it again the whole series. Didnt know it has a book! I suggest you watch it. There is an english version.
Two books that I found very impactful to me and my life: Les Miserables (Victor Hugo, Isabel Hapgood translation, audiobook) and Jane Eyre (Charlotte Bronte). Don't think you can watch the movie (or musical) and experience these novels. I can't stomach the musical or movie of the former. And movie versions of Jane Eyre (except maybe the Geo C Scott version) are so loaded with suspense and weirdness that for me, the stress obliterates the romance. Les Mis' is a breathtaking novel.
@@forevermarcia OMG. I love that you asked. Its vivid. You care about the characters almost immediately upon meeting them. With Jean val-Jean you are unsure if he is to be loved or despised but you are fascinated. It opens in the south of France, a terrain I know well. Its filled with peril and adventures. There is a love story. There is fatherly love. The writing is so adept, so clever. I sobbed; I was riveted. At times the tension was so fierce I had to put it away and pick it up the next day. I audiobooked it and literally wanted to start the entire book over again when it ended. Victor Hugo was a genius.

I loved The Secret Garden. I still have my copy, too. I also have Mark Twains The Prince and the Pauper. One book I'm still very impressed by is One Hundred Names by Cecelia Ahern. Highly recommended. Like in most of her books, the protagonist has to go through a hard time or is lost in every day life somehow and they have to learn or rediscover to appreciate. Btw. I have the audiobook version of Eckhardt Tolle's book. 😄
