I learned to track and race in bmw's and Miata. 30 years track experience. Occasionally doing time in Porsches. I had the opportunity to race a well prepped CRX. Absolutely awesome. Tearing up bmws, Miata's, vw's. So much so, I'm going to get one!
The Car community stresses the understeer factor.....any tips on how to combat that....I'm sure your experience will be very valuable.....I always felt like I'll miss out on learning god racing skills by not owning a good RWD car( they're going up like crazy $)....I own 3 Civics and a mid 80sMazda B2000 short wheel base pick up( torsion front and Leave spring rear) yeah maybe not the best suspension for practicing. Thanks in advance
Got my hands on the I6 Altezza and it's been amazing. Had to put in a new front suspension because those lower ball joints can be a draaag and got a new T/belt too but yup, I agree with you guys, the thing is a proper daily! Mad respect all the way from Zimbabwe
Surprising to know the VQ engine is actually in any 2002-present Nissan maxima or any 2002-2006 Nissan 350Z as well. I found one for sale for $2,500 in decent shape… never hurts to shop around.
@@Bruh262AHH yeah I know. The point is the same engine that comes in those cars u mentioned are in affordable cars like the maxima to swap into something that doesn’t cost 30k
My dudes, you guys knocked this one out of the park! Awesome vid. You had me at I6 2JZ. You also gave me a reason to want an E36... sorta. That comment about doing an LS swap makes me recoil back to the IS 300 idea. I'm glad the MR2 was on this list, but I would still take a miata over that thing. If the car was supercharged, I could get behind the wheel easy enough. But adding a turbo to it sounds like a death sentence. Turbo spool+snap oversteer = grafted tree branch. I'm pushing 266whp in my miata, easily giving one of those a run for its money around the track. I'm good on the MR2 train. However, I've always loved the styling of the 80s and 90s year models. Maybe if I counter-balanced the front. I loved the inclusion of the CRX and DelSol. While I've never been a fan of the DelSol's styling, these cars are absolutely like legos to put together. If I only had the money to seriously mod my civics when I had them. The work would be cake. As for the Mustang, I'd have to add an LSD, a rear independent suspension, and some seriously fat tires on the back before I try to run 10s down the 1/4mi in one of those. Those cars just have torque for days. Unless all that power is put to the ground, expect a lot of funny business in the rear end. Like, the crowd control and life ending kind. The stock rear tires can't even handle the stock power. Slap some 305s on the rear of a GT as step 1. Overall, this vid made my heart sing. Finally we step into the tuner space. Since we're on the topic of mods, maybe a video series on what mods to add to what car. For instance, all the mods needed to keep an EJ's head gaskets from leaking, or the engine destroying itself from oil starvation. Likewise, you could do the same with an E36. Pitfalls, dos and don'ts, what to watch out for, what's a guaranteed repair item, etc. The sky is the limit on these topics. I just think the majority of the crowd is a little burdened with the X best cars list trend. Keep up the good work gents! (As a side note, looking up common issues with the WRX led me to a random website with the ideal vid "The best Subaru WRX generation..." thought it was funny)
Should have mentioned the Saab 9-3 Aero instead of the 9-2x. 2.8T v6 250 stock with bolt ons you can make over 400 easy. There's guts making 600 without opening the motor. Super underrated and sleepers forsure
I have a 2013 Mustang and it's a serious beast of a car with just some minor mods. Nothing insane, either. The V6 and V8 are stupidly strong engines with tons of mods available. Just do remember that the reason everyone crashes at cars and coffee is because they turn the traction control off. It's not truly "off,, so it will re-engage, grab, and then send you sideways. There is a special method to actually turn it into the equivalent of track mode, requiring you to de-pin one of the connectors, which will cause the entire system to fail to boot up and throw a ton of error codes on the dash. Then it's actually OFF. (yes, there is no "track mode" option - thanks, Ford) But then it will be safe for track and drag strip use. Many people, as you can imagine, have a switch installed as a racing mod.
videos like this is the reason secondhand car market is on the rise thats why Ive found another cheap car to mod and not telling anyone about it LOL. I like buying them cheap and love the parts still being the price of peanuts lol. But when im done with my project im gonna blast it all over the net on how to replicate it and continue the trend lol.
3:30 I still can't get over it, there's a japanese competitive tougue and one of the competitors is, Keiichi Tsuchiya himself. Number 10 and Number 9 in the top 10 list is a Mercedes EVO and a Nissan GTR, Number 5 is Keiichi's custom tuned Ae86, and in 3rd place is the 3rd gen Mr2, 2nd and 1st are heavily modded s2000s. BUT get this, the mr2 chassis wise is mostly stock, stock brakes, interior still in, the main changes being a big wing, and the 2zzge engine (that is from an Elise).
I have an 03 IS300 Sport Design and I love this car! By far one of the best cars I ever owned in my entire life. Built like a tank! And so very tunable!! Mines are lightly modified and I'll never sell this car!! It's amazing!! I love it so much!!!
One of the best videos I’ve seen from you guys. Lots of good knowledge. The S197 Mustang is my old car from a few years back. FYI Ford also makes a few upgrades for the Mustang under the “Ford Performance” label. Cool thing is your local Ford Dealer will install the parts without hesitation because it’s an official Ford part.
For sure the mustang for me also !!!! Ice got a 2014 mustang and your so right there's a ton of upgrades I just bought a hellon twin turbo setup SICK !!!
There are about 2- 3 DOA Infiniti G35 just parked near where I live here in LA. They dont run, they are just parked. Too expensive to ever fix. Mitsubishi has a bad rep for their poor electrical implementation. I used to own an Evo, and I had to turn the steering wheel to a certain percentage, and hold the starter switch to a angle just to start the car....
G37’s are pretty similar in price and better in literally every single way. Besides being pretty cheap to fix with all the common problems incredibly well documented, it’s a stupid reliable engine. One of the best v6’s ever produced.
you guys are sleeping on lincoln my moms lincoln mkx is a 3.7 liter v6 that makes 305hp stock and she got it for 11k and its mint, its all wheel drive with sport mode and paddle shifters, its a lot of fun to drive fast and on windey roads but it also gets good gas mileage.
:( no Miata mention the 1.8 may be gutless stock, but with some turbo shenanigans to touch 250 wheel horsepower, they're shockingly quick. So light that massive power isn't needed to be fast.
I already have my 2022 Roush with the 3rd Pedal Fun Rev-Match Tremec 6 Speed Manual Transmission, with Magneride Suspension Doesn't Lean under hard cornering or Dip in hard braking. I will never sell it not even if i am offered $1 million USA Need a rear wheel drive N/A daily with a 3rd pedal manual transmission 👨🏻👍🏻🏎️🏁🚩 cool channel
It is getting hard these days. In just a year these cars have gotten crazy expensive. Nowadays if I want the same conditions is300 I got for 3.8k last year id need to pay around 8k💀. If someone wants these, you need to be patiently watching out for that 1st or 2nd owner is300 that were not slammed not beaten the snot out of.
I think the term built not bought is played out. Don’t get me wrong you can and might find a good deal but in reality if you spending under 10k even 5k you are buying something that’s been beat to hell and back 5 times over. In the end you’re going to dump a lot of money to get it road, track ready if you want quality parts and not some Chinese turbo kit from eBay. So in the real world built not bought is actually knowing what you doing on the mechanical side to compete with todays technology while dumping at least 20 to 30k with the cost of the car into a shit box. Your spending just as much money/time to be as fast as cars that come straight off the show room floor for the same price point. It’s just about the love of working and modding cars.
HOW YOU GONNA PUT A ACURA TL IN THE THUMBNAIL N NOT PUT IT ON THE LIST v6:270 hp 3k curb weight decent starter car/bad gas milage and expensive insurance.
This is really misleading ideal media. I’ve been looking at C5 corvettes for almost 2 years now and can’t find one for less than 21000 dollars, and Facebook marketplace options aren’t too much better. There may be better options
@@jamesstephenson4544 Dramatically so. But it also comes with the problem of driving an automatic. It's the first thing everyone will ask and the last thing you will be happy telling them about. Much like the "Is it a V8?" that Mustang and Camaro owners suffer with.
Man i almost got a 9-2x last summer but i didnt get the cash in time i was pretty upset because i was looking for a nice fun car to drive around when i didnt need my chevy duramax trucks power lol.
5:40 After my friend blew up his 3d engine on his supercharged Z he gave up. They are not reliable at all. dont listen to this bs video. 11:42 After he start to recommend a 3V i am done with this video....... 3V's are complete garbage. It show what engine can be build with no completion around.
I would recommend an early 2000s GTO as a "cheap" car. I think it's the cheapest option for an LS engine currently? But, yes, the Del Sol... lol. It was a toad back then and is still one now. Any car you have to swap the entire engine on shouldn't be on any list as you could just as easily do what we did when I was young and stuff a V8 in a VW bug. People have been doing engine swaps forever, so any cheap trash will work. Meaning any car that requires a swap is also trash.
7000 dollars, 8000 dollars, $9000. And beyond, are we talking about used vehicles here? I Don't know about you guys, but my income hasn't grown like these price tags on these use vehicles. Find some other contents to talk about that real people can afford.
When new cars start at 25-30K and a new equivalent of any of these cars is 40-60K... 10K is indeed the new "budget" territory if you want a clean title.
I know it's a little more than the Civic, but what about the Honda Accord? Specifically the old ones that still have a V6. You can get them for 10k right now (like my 2008 Honda Accord V6). It also has that signature reliable V-TEC motor.
I've instructed in track day experiences where you can bring your own car. Accord and Camry absolutely suck. Sure they move fast enough in a straight line. Anything should with enough horsepower. Crappy suspension dynamics. Very unbalanced, brakes for crap regardless of pad or fluid. By the time you modify them, you could have purchased a used VW or BMW for less, kept them stock and still be faster around the track. Don't get me wrong, absolutely fun getting stupid in any car around a track. Just don't think it's some kind of sleeper performance car. Don't even ask me about the Altima.
Talks about s197’s slaying coyotes and super cars. Proceeds to only show videos of coyotes racing. 11-14 Mustangs are s197’s but they are still coyotes 😂
