New knitter here, just under one year of experience. I have made one gift knit, the Baggy Hat by Petite Knit. Pretty basic but I made it in 50/50 Cotton Cashmere which was a splurge. My cousin lives in SanDiego so he doesn't need a super warm hat and he has very little hair so I wanted something very soft. I am currently working on Jason's Cashmere Hat by by Melissa Thomson which will be my first project with cables. I am knitting it in worsted 100% wool for this first rendition. Next I will make it in 100% handspun pygora that I purchased from a friend and local spinner. Thank you for all of the inspiration!
I've been making socks for gifts this year. My favorite is combining fingering sock+mohair, using Kay Litton's DK Vanilla Sock pattern. The Jason's Cashmere Hat is a great gift hat.
My daughter is an elementary teacher and I've been knitting hats for her to have extra in class just in case they are needed. My go-to pattern these days has been the Bewind Hat, a very pretty pattern and a free download on Ravelry. Thank you for your suggestions, I've been thinking of trying Brioche and think practicing on a hat would be the perfect idea!
What a lovely Podcast you have. First time viewer as you just popped up on my list. Right now I'm knitting the Lamb Dancing Hat by Drops ( free on their site.) Friday along with hundreds of others I will start the Arne and Carlos KAL Christmas stocking.
Love your Sock Squad socks for this month! I’m trying to get mine finished up too :-) Loving how soft the yarn is! I’ve been gifting lots of socks this year, but hope to get more hats on the needles soon. Inspired now! Thank you!
The yarn is very soft this month! Have you gotten your November yarn yet? I’m thinking about making the Under the Quilt socks by Stone knits because I’m pretty obsessed with quilt star motifs right now. 😂
@ Yes! I was looking at that one too! Perfect! So pretty! I’m going to do one from my library called the Flagstaff socks. I’ve been wanting to make for awhile now, so hopefully they work! :-) ❄️ 🧦 🧶.
I'm working on gift knits! I'm knitting a bunch of DK socks using the "A Walk Through Time DK Socks" pattern by Sarah Taylor, I also have a pair of Knoll Socks by Rachel Nuttig that I'm working on, as well as two Hipster Hats for my nephews. I'm trying to see if I can squeeze out another hat for my great nephew I'm thinking of either a Musselburgh or Hipster Hat but I'm not sure if I can with all the things I have going on. I definitely underestimated the time it would take to knit all of these things, next year I'm starting early lol
