8 Ideas To Improve Libraries | The Sims 4 Guide 

I agree that the science and logic items are just too big for the house. Instead I make a science museum! Museums are great because you can add wildly different themes to the same lot without it feeling out of place. I had a jungle adventure room, cultural Sulani room, and a science and space themed lab on the upper floor with telescope roof access. It was so fun I might build it again

Adding on to the last one: you could put a telescope up on the roof of the building and then they could go up to the top floor and study the stars as well. The observatory is another one of those huge objects that don't seem to fit in anywhere. I could see making a rooftop with solar panels and wind turbines to one side and the observatory on the other so that your Sims have a place to watch the skies. As a bonus, it's also a place to woohoo...lol!

In strangeville, I made the library a like city hall lot. I liked the idea of my sim studying at city hall trying to find out how to save the town from the mother plant and talking to the townies.

Love the ideas! Another idea - I made one library cat friendly so Sims could get cozy at the library with a book, their cat, and a fireplace. Or meet other cats if they don't have any of their own

So I add a basement with no access for my vampires club as they can fly down to the forgotten tombs. I tend to put 1 library per world and my children's library during summer break features a water slide and breaks out a projector for family movie nights. Chess tables and I tend to include a media room with a TV for viewing "documentaries "

Is anyone else annoyed that you can’t fill up bookshelves with books on community lots? : ( I haven’t found a way to do it yet, but it would be so cool for my sims to be able to access expensive skill books, etc.

OMG I love these ideas! The glass study rooms definitely reminded me of my university. This has me wanting to re-model the Britechester library, and to include those study rooms (maybe with some rooms for kids & teens to work on school projects!), include a debate hall, and to have a science lab in the basement. How epic would that be?!

I've never thought of using the chests like that - brilliant!! Your build looked so good - loved the glass rooms. I built an archive room in the basement of my library for the research machine, vampire tomes and magical books. I filled it with cobwebs and creepy decor - it's one of my favourite builds.

im not a fan of the Kit packs but they should do a ''Shrink It'' kit where they make all the large items like the microscope and observatory more home friendly

These are all great for sparking ideas when playing the interior decorator career. Whenever I get a job to fix up a library I make sure to add a computer room with a bank of computers and a research machine.

I really love your ideas! I always was sad that other sims couldn't read my author sims books and now you showed me a way! I have one big lot in oasis springs called "wasteland of knowledge" which is a kind of a library/research space with different areas for every subject like a little kids room, a science lab, history library with archeology table, astro space (microscope, observatory, rocketship), Computer-lab, kitchen area, garden, a little dormitory with bunkbeds and a little hospital room with extra beds. Nearly every new item (except magical stuff) I have gets a dedicated room or area, I haven't had time to incorporate the brewing and fabrication stuff from eco living but I'll get there. When my poor sims couldn't pay the bills I kind of lived there until I had enough money to pay the bills lol. I love to have a public area where sims can gather and everyone can try everything! I want to add the glass study rooms that will fit in great!

something i just started doing in terms of building is using club pennants from the get together pack to use the different club icons and pretend they are different book genres instead. i hang them up next to a bookshelf in my libraries or directly on them and each bookcase looks like a separate section for each genre. like the comedy section would have the club pennant with the joker’s hat, romance section will be the with the lips, books for learning handiness skills would be the pennant with the wrench and so on! I use the base game towering intellect dual book case for the bookcases and place the pendants on the side of it. adding related posters and things also makes it pop!

I like making an area for kids and also a quiet area for university students. I think Kids Play and study spot are great lot traits. The peace and quiet one is also great. I even made a small library that has a cafe bar but I don't know if it's functional if the lot is set to library. I wish we had a multi-functional lot that can be multiple different things.

Very clever Peter! I myself did have difficulty building libraries because here I often just placed rows of bookcages. You turn this lot into a complete research station for the entire family this way. Clever.

Hey Petey! I just now did a remodel of the Llama Land Library Lot with all of the things you mentioned in this video. I also added the medicine crafting machine from Cats and Dogs to the science lab, and also installed a theater room using the jumbotron from the Movie Night stuff pack for that one friend everyone has who has zero attention span for books but all the attention in the world for their film adaptations.

Hey Petey, got any ideas about building a bank with the vaults from Get Famous? Library or some other kind of lot type?

I loved the idea and wanted to do the chest thing with my writer sim but I can't seem to put anything in the chests when I visit as the writer sim. I tried to just leave the book on the counters for the librarian to put away but then when I left the lot the books were returned to my inventory again :(

The bigger problem with the storage chests is the tendency of Sims to put books in the chests instead of a bookshelf, even if the bookshelf is closer. I've made it a point to wall off storage items like chests and cardboard boxes used for collectables and agriculture goods (like wool and bee wax) to keep Sims from interacting with them.

I love most of the idea, but a coffee stall INSIDE a library? No real library I know would allow that, they wouldn't want people spilling coffee on their books. I like placing vending machines outside libraries and making a little sitting area next to them. I pretend sims can't bring the food inside.

One odd idea that I saw & liked was a nudist library.
